Agreed! - mooHaving grown up in two small towns, Centerville and Townville, where everyone knows of everyone else, I am amazed that so little has hit the news as explanation.

This...Having grown up in two small towns, Centerville and Townville, where everyone knows of everyone else, I am amazed that so little has hit the news as explanation.
IMO we already do.This...
"I have to assume there are some major underlying factors that outside looking in cannot see- and none of it makes sense- but small town Deep South function a bit differently - moo"
.. is the kicker. Will we ever know?
I don’t think so personally- but time will tell-mooThis...

Thankfully, rumors and gossip aren't allowed here anyway.I was thinking the same yesterday. How are there no rumors from a small town and this news blew up internationally? The initial ones don't seem to hold any water. There has been no new news in almost a month. MOO
As I try to catch up with this thread I read this article and a question in large letters asked: How did they know each other?Nothing new in linked article; however, a complete recap thus far.

Kentucky judge shooting: What was alleged about former Sheriff Shawn Stines' motive?
Motive remains a key question in the murder case against former Letcher County Sheriff Shawn "Mickey" Stines. Here's the latest.www.courier-journal.com
In the murder investigation against Stines, Judge Rupert Wilhoit allowed the case to move forward to a grand jury at the conclusion of the hearing. The former sheriff's next court date has not been announced.
I don't have FB but can generally view public FB pages such as MSM and LE pages. My understanding was he took down their FB page because he was concerned negative public comments would be used against him in the pending Civil lawsuit. Does the Letcher County Sheriff FB page still exist? I've seen screen shots that were mostly photos of Stines desk displaying confiscated drug busts but no specific case details.
wow, I too reviewed it within 24 hours of the shooting, before we even knew Stines had stopped updating it. But I can no longer locate it so I believe it has indeed now been completely removed. What is interesting to me is, I could see it after the sheriff was in custody for the murder. SO WHO removed it? Did LE request its removal? Did the new interim sheriff do so?it seems to be gone
at least I can't find it and I have FB
I did view it early in the case
Four more, at the most. They had 60 days total.Sooooo how many more weeks until the GJ has to come back with an indictment?
Thanks!Four more, at the most. They had 60 days total.

They know each other because they live in the same county and would know or at least know of each other's families and friends. They are in the same career paths and even if they weren't friends their paths crossed, often.
Kentucky counties are smaller than other states for a reason that is now obsolete, but I honestly believe it makes for closer-knit communities.
<modsnip>
And IIRC from early reports- they ate lunch together frequently enough at that particular restaurant that they had a regular table and regular order-They did know each other and they were on friendly terms. They were at lunch together an hour before the murder.
I was aware. I was answering the question in the article. They worked with each other and knew each other's family members quite well. They did know each other and they were on friendly terms. They were at lunch together an hour before the murder.

I think the original poster wasn’t referring to the Sheriff and Judge knowing EACH OTHER, rather that they may also “know or know of” the other one’s family (including extended family) and friends. My response was to your comment about “would know or at least know”. You said you were trying to catch up, I was letting you know that it’s not an either-or, nor an even-if. We do in fact know that. I would like to know what the issue was, and more, but they aren’t giving that up to the public yet. Sigh.
Your post #108:
“They know each other because they live in the same county and they “would know or at least know” of each other's families and friends. They are in the same career paths and even if they weren't friends their paths crossed, often.
That is what I was trying to say. Thank you for pointing it out.I think the original poster wasn’t referring to the Sheriff and Judge knowing EACH OTHER, rather that they may also “know or know of” the other one’s family (including extended family) and friends.
It’s kind of like the old story of how important punctuation can be -
Can we eat, Grandpop?
Vs
Can we eat Grandpop?
