Come on, folks- WHAT are we missing here?

We need to think of other things she could have carried him in.

How about those storage containers you get at Walmart to store clothing/shoes/linens in? She could have put that in the back of her vehicle and drove off and not be seen, no one would be the wiser as they just moved into their new home and those containers are quite popular.

I'm sure this is laughable, but here goes- how about a bike with a side car for children? I remember folks saying it was warm outside that day. I've been to cities, especially out west, where parents bike with their kids in a side car or a single/double stroller make for bikes attached to the back.

A wagon would make too much noise, I would think. Especially at night, though they have some plastic wagons that are a little bit quieter than the metal wagons.

How about those back pack on wheels that you pull behind you? I've seen some big ones that kids use for college that could fit a small five year old.

Come to think of it, we have suitcases ourselves that have wheels and you can pull behind you.

Grocery cart on wheels that you pull- I don't mean the ones from the store, but I've seen elderly use the fold up ones and they carry about 4 large bags of groceries in them.

Laundry bag? Is there a laundromat near by, where it wouldn't be odd to see someone carrying a laundry bag?

I think JH needs to do an inventory and tell LE what is missing from the home.

I could do this. It is funny you say this though. When Mr. Pink and I were leaving the other day, I said, "Watch him be right here."

ETA: I think it would be difficult to go unnoticed around the lake though. There are a ton of homeowners with dogs and I know one particular person knows EVERYTHING that goes on in the neighborhood.

what I saw in the news was excerpts from the most recent change to visitation where the court said it was aware of past drug use and forgives her, but further use would indicate her choice to not be a parent. I didn’t see it say it was a reason for losing custody but I could have missed it

Definitely weekly, sometimes twice a week. But that is in the more upscale places. The “roll off” ones at construction sites get picked up once full, but they deliver a new one and take the old because they get dumped at our old landfill, and not at the transfer station. Well, usually anyway. It depends on what’s being dumped.

Funny, I just saw the post below here just after I read your comment and was thinking that their theory is a mighty fine one! I didn't even think of her taking the kids and going somewhere else for the night. Something may have happened elsewhere, hence why their new home isn't considered a crime scene. If it happened at someone else's home, perhaps he is buried not too far from there. If this is a possibility, I wonder where she went? Thinking back to the child endangering charge- is it possible she went further away than she is allowed to drive with the kids in the car? I forgot how far she is allowed to drive with her restricted license. Does anyone remember?

I have to politely disagree. I actually think it could be important to finding him. According to the VI, he only wore them at night. Also, we're focusing on Friday-Saturday. This leads us to believe that he disappeared the night before. The lack of crime scene tape at the house makes me suspect that it, well, wasn't a crime scene. So he quite possibly died somewhere else, at night. So now we're looking at maybe her sleeping over at someone's house, or at least staying there so late that she put the kids to bed there. Where would she go to maybe party? It WAS a Friday night, afterall. If it wasn't February, I would say maybe an outdoor area and they could've slept in the car. But in winter, maybe someone else's house. Then I wonder who her friends are... and I start thinking that maybe since she grew up in Andover and maybe knows more people there, maybe that's the key.

I'm just rambling now, but my point is, I think it could be a very important clue to actually finding him.

I hope this doesn’t sound too crazy, and given that I’ve thought of it I can’t imagine that LE hasn’t. Considering EG grew up in Andover this occurred to me. I used to drive to Andover from Wichita 5 days a week, taking my son to school. To avoid traffic and construction on Kellogg, I’ve driven every way to Andover that you can go I think. Harry St to Andover Rd, at the right time of day, is almost eerie it’s so deserted. Especially past Webb. There’s lots of places someone could stop off and go down a culvert or into the woods.
There’s other ways too that are quiet and have dense wooded areas but Harry just pops out at me. Harry St isn’t far from their new house. Also, It’s quite a ...calming drive for lack of a better description. I don’t know if that’s an area that is included on any search.

LOL Totally O/T but this reminded me of a scene in the movie "Serial Mom." Kathleen Turner ("serial mom") is in court on charges of multiple murder and a detective is testifying about the true crime books he found after surreptitiously searching her trash, trying to lead the jury to think that because she reads true crime she must be a murderer. So when Turner's character starts to cross-examine the detective she asks what would be found in his trash and he throws out a few benign names of magazines, Turner then opens a folder and says "Well, detective, we found these when searching your trash" and she holds up hermaphrodite and midget pornography magazines to the laughs and jeers of those in the courtroom.

BTW, if you've never seen "Serial Mom" I highly recommend it, it's a funny take on society's obsession with true crime. It was directed by John Waters and stars Kathleen Turner, Ricki Lake and Sam Waterston.

Per the VI, saying it without saying it, Lucas was last seen by someone as late as Friday before he was reported missing on Sat. She said in the last thread when I asked her regarding a time line she said she couldn't say when Lucas was last seen but advised us to focus on Late Friday and Saturday.

It depends.....we had a case get thrown out because we didn’t get a warrant even tho it was voluntarily turned over. But it’s been about 4 years and some of the laws have changed. I just know how overly paranoid the DA was when we would do case review about having every base covered. Getting convictions thrown out on appeal is every prosecutors nightmare. The problem you have is getting the phone because they are looking for evidence about Lucas and stumbling onto something else unrelated. They can use the info to investigate but not to prosecute if that makes sense. But just because EG would be arrested with the phone on her doesn’t mean they can check it. If EG did turn it over, she had time to alter it.

Yes! I totally understand the precautions! You never want to jeopardize anything, that's for sure. That's why I was thinking maybe they would be able to use it just for the sake of narrowing down timelines and where to search for him. If they used info found inside her voluntarily surrendered phone to locate him, they woudln't necessarily need to use that for prosecition purposes, though it would be ideal if it served the dual purpose of searching and locating as well as evidentiary. Now, if they *did* get a warrant to search her phone, would that be public knowledge for sure, or could it still be an unknown to us sleuthers? Thank you for filling me in!

(you think that's bad, try listening to an electrician trying to explain how the ballasts at one store burned out all the others because the yellow wire was hooked up to a red wire and almost caused the entire store to lose power. I sometimes sit there looking like a deer facing headlights......)

Is it completely unrealistic to think that she would take stuff to the landfill on her own? Butler Co is more lenient than Sedgwick Co is. My ex used to take stuff there all of the time. She did just move. What if she took boxes and what not? Ugh. I can’t even imagine but I also would never do something like this.

I won’t say it’s impossible but since the big landfill closed and they started hauling it an hour away, it’s not as common for people to haul their own trash. I did check to make sure there wasn’t any neighborhood cleanups the city and county will sponsor where they leave out dumpsters for neighborhoods to fill up. It’s too early in the year for one.

The problem with using things from SM is that the person could always say "I didn't post that." Or "XYZ had my phone." Creates reasonable doubt.

I was thinking more of if she say took a pic of herself with say a joint and kids could be seen in pic then texted to someone. People are clueless sometimes of what they take pics of and send out. I understand what you are saying though.

This is just a tad North of Andover near Towanda. The bridge gave me the creeps. I was trying to think outside of the box so I looked up abandoned farms in Butler Co. I’ve lived here a long time and don’t know most of these. Not sure on all of them distance wise.

When it comes to anyone calling in a tip, first we applaud you for caring and not being afraid to help the police, we ask you keep your tip-off of Websleuths.

The last thing we ever want to do is harm a case.

If you turn in a tip and then post about it, give out the tip on Websleuths, you don't know who is reading. You could tip someone off, you could really harm the case without even realizing what you are doing.

In general, this leads me to one of my favorite reminders to everyone; your words have power. You have no idea who is reading, no idea how your words may affect someone's life.

JUST THOUGHT OF SOMETHING!!!

As i was catching up on this thread I came to the discussion in here about trash. It made me ask myself a couple of questions. "Why haven't LE searched landfills yet?", "What evidence do they have that makes them think Emily killed him and he's dead?" and "Why do they think he was in a park somewhere?" I sat here thinking about it these questions trying to rack my brain for answers. I realize that there are picture evidence of him being abused but there has to be something more that links her specifically to the crime of his disappearance, something that makes LE think he is dead, and not just the child endangerment charge. There is something that LE knows that they have not told us in regards to Emily and the link between what happened to Lucas. I mean there was even one article that said LE has named her a person of interest in the case.

As I was thinking about all of this a few things came to me that would make sense and answer some of these questions. If they did a search of Emily's house I wonder if they obtained her bank records, and some receipts of her recent purchases and happened to find that she bought a shovel and some type of container that she put him in, as well as her phone pings being around all these parks. Maybe that's why LE was searching the parks and why they don't think he's in a landfill. I wonder if whatever was in all of these records they put it together that she committed a crime.

This made me think of something else.... Remember with Casey Anthony they had her target purchases etc and they were able to name her a suspect early on? This could be another reason why Tim Miller said it makes him think of the Caylee case.
