KS - Serial rapist targeting Kansas college campuses starting in Oct 2000

Also I don't remember any sort of warning like ]this last xmas break?[/QUOTE]

I cannot find at any time they released a warning without announcing an update or the announcement they are all linked. But I did read somewhere that the most a rapist can go without raping is 7 years on average. 7 year itch I guess. Perhaps they like to just put it out there so they arent blamed when people are like we never heard about this serial rapist when he does finally do it again

The public absolutely did know about this, it was in the news and police warned students to keep doors and windows locked. My roommates Dad bought us all mace after hearing about it, that was probably in 2003 or 2004.

I heard about it before 2003, apparently someone was telling the sororities to be careful running and always go with a friend. Original rumors was a serial rapist was raping college students around the city park.

QUOTE="Razz, post: 13647872, member: 115621"]Sorry. I'm not terribly savvy and can't share the bus routes but when looking at them, oh my gosh! This makes so much sense. Could be why he's so consistent with the mornings he commits the rapes. Could be his days off! And yes, he would know who's staying over break and who is going! And if they buy the 30 day pass, it may have their name on it.

I honestly dont know if Kansas state has bus routes..... but I was thinking he may have picked his victims from Blockbuster. Think about it...... female comes in all alone . Spends 45 min to an hour all by herself looking at movies all alone, doesnt make a single phone call saying what about this movie? I think on break you probably can tell who is alone that night. Blockbuster was near most of the apartments and you wouldnt look funny constantly being at blockbuster as long as you returned your video . The thing is that police would have picked up on blockbuster when all the victims had said they were at blockbuster that evening and most likely blockbuster has cameras

Does anyone know if the rapist called the victims at all? Like call early hours and just let it ring and ring till they picked up and just remain on the phone till they hung up, before or after the rapes ?

Cannot recall any details like that, but it would not be surprising as the perp may want to find out if the victim lives alone or not, or just because he is obviously a creep doing what creeps do, imo, speculation.

I was just wondering. I was watching SVU and an episode was super similar and some one the types of rapists would call and so call "date" his victims. But if he did that may be information they keep hidden from the public

I did this secret shopping thing in college and one of the store managers id me and you dont get paid if they ID you.. I gave a really bad review.. I think he looked on video and the time and found me. I paid with credit card. Well after that in the early morning everyday he would call and if you didn't answer he would continue till you picked up. It got to the point that was my daily routine. The phone ring early morning, I would just say hello. No answer and then hang up. It happened for months until I graduated and moved on. It was my apt phone not a cell phone. Now I wonder what that was all about and if it was even the manager guy.

Hi all. I’m new to this site. I live in Manhattan and have been really invested in this case. I don’t think I have anything new to add. I didn’t know if anyone else lived here but I can check things out if needed.

Riley County Police reassure public they continue to look for Kansas college rapist | KSNT News
“We want the public to know we haven’t forgotten about it,” Butler told Fox 43 News Anchor Erin LaRow Tuesday morning. “We want it to remain in the forefront of their mind.”
''In 2017 The Riley County Police Department and the Lawrence Police Department dedicated a website to the apprehension of an assailant who may be responsible for the rape or attempted rape of students attending either Kansas State University or the University of Kansas dating back to October of 2000.

Each incident involved a masked intruder entering the victim’s off-campus residence, mostly between the hours of 2 a.m. and 4:30 a.m. as the victim slept, and all but one coincided with a break in the academic calendar.

The person who may be responsible is linked back to 13 rape cases in either Lawrence or Manhattan spanning 15 years. ''

I think the time of night he attacked is important. I wonder if he worked at a bar or was out at bars and followed the girls home. Even if they went home early, before the bars closed, how long was he watching them before he broke in? I also wonder if any bars had a ladies night on those nights.

Also I wonder if the doors were unlocked. If so, was he just going around randomly following girls and these are the ones he could get in. How many other potential victims might there be?

I lived in Lawrence -- a while ago. Years before liquor-by-the-drink in Kansas.

How quiet is Manhattan between semesters?

How long have you lived in Manhattan?

Has the size or composition of Fort Riley changed while you've been there?

It’s definitely quieter between semesters but there’s still a lot of activity with locals and those students that have stayed behind. I’ve only been here for 12 years.

If anyone likes podcasts, the Murder Squad released an episode today about the KS College Rapist. It’s with Paul Holes and Billy Jensen. Thought y’all might be interested.
Thanks for the heads up!
Finding the Kansas College Rapist - The Murder Squad
March 22, 2021
''In October 2000, a predator began preying on college students at Kansas State University and the University of Kansas. It would take over eight years and thirteen attacks between Manhattan and Lawrence before authorities would declare there was a serial rapist on the loose. Billy and Paul look into the case--the known patterns, MO. The Kansas College Rapist has 14 known assaults but has not been identified.''

I still can't believe they haven't caught this guy. Of course, I'll always wonder if they would have if the two colleges had not downplayed the rapes till almost the end. I did find it interesting that "The Murder Squad" mentioned the possibility of this guy doing the same thing at other colleges. Given that some rapes go unreported and colleges tend to downplay rapes on campus I still believe that could be the case elsewhere in the mid-West. I won't be surprised if there aren't more victims - i.e., unreported attacks.
