Found Safe KY - Charlee Campbell, 2, *autistic* & Pitbull Terrier Named Penny, Bullitt County, 7 Jun 2018

Praying for love and strength to hold Charlee and her family close until she is found safe and sound.

It's kind of "swampy" in that area, but hopefully the dog would keep her from getting into that.

I think I had trouble posting my last message because they were putting two threads together when I tried.

Come on Penny..... show us some love!

It's beginning to get dark in KY, it's been hot and humid today. The nights are cooler. My mind doesn't want to think about the darkness and that precious little girl and her dog. They must be hungry and thirsty. How far can a 2, almost 3 year old walk?

You're reading my mind, sadly. I'm holding onto hope bc of Penny being with her, but am still so worried for both.

If she's near the Beech Grove Baptist Church (per Fox-41) then she's right where the swampy Salt River bottom land meets "the knobs." It's also right along the border of Ft Knox territory, so there wouldn't be many (public) roads where somebody driving around the area could see her wandering around. I'd think that being on a knob/hill would be safer than in the swampy land, but the knobs have some cliffs right along the Salt River (just inside of Ft Knox). But I think that Ft Knox is fairly secured (i.e. fences and/or roadblock-like things). Since she's so young, and purportedly autistic, we can only hope that it's a smart doggie that's with her.

From what I understand, she is non-verbal and only grunts. I think calling for Penny might be a better idea under the circumstances. I pray she doesn't go near the swampy area. Penny might follow, and they'd both disappear from sight. Such a horrible, frightful thought!

I can’t imagine that a 2 year old could walk very far. Hopefully the dog will bark to alert searchers when she hears them. Scary situation.

I haven’t seen much background on this, do we know where her parents are? She was staying with the grandparents? Are they certain that she wandered away? Could she have possibly been taken by a non-custodial parent?

What is the family situation? Did she live with her grandparents?

Just thinking out loud here. Probably the dog would have barked if a stranger approached or entered the house?

Oh no, not again! It seems lately we have too many autistic children under five opening the door, walking outside in their pajamas and disappearing.

Families with autistic children must do better at securing their outside doors! These are little children who have no business of being able to escape outside. It is a dangerous world for any underage child.

You are right. What is the family profile? Who does she live with?

We have obnoxious alarms on our doors at the preschools I work with. Lately though, I have not found them loud or obnoxious at all.

The first article I read stated the grandfather left for work at 5:30 a.m. The grandmother didn't notice she was missing until around 9:30 a.m. and the door was open (who leaves for work that early and doesn't lock the door, jmo). Charlee was gone and so was Penny, their dog.

As far as the status of her mom and dad, we don't know. Praying they find her before the night is out.

So she could have been missing for four hours before grandma noticed. Does that mean grandma slept until 9:30 then found out she was missing after she awoke?

Would like to see more details.

Little Noah Chamberlin was 2 and he walked way farther than anyone thought he could.

So really we don’t even know if the dog is with her. Could very well be that she got out, and the dog eventually wandered by an open door and let himself out too.
