Police find vehicle belonging to 25-year-old being held for ransom

Police say they have found the vehicle belonging to a 25-year-old missing man they believe has been kidnapped for ransom.

According to Aaron Ellis, a spokesman for the Louisville Metro Police Department, police have recovered the blue Jeep Cherokee belonging to Jermaine Sprewer.

Ellis declined to provide any additional details.

Absolutely agree. He has 2 adorable children. I think it’s like the other poster said this could be staged. Or he’s done someone wrong, money wise.

I agree with what you're saying. I can't see this man is sitting there under gun point since 9/7 waiting on $. Are we sure this isn't a video of some sort? Why wait so long knowing LE is in on this? Doesn't sound right however I'm no professional. IMO

And as history has taught us, there are frequently squabbles about splitting up the money that frequently end up with one or more homicides. And of course "two can keep a secret if one of them is dead". The more players, the more chances someone will have a slip of the tongue. Large number of guns pointed at him speaks to the potential of gang activity.

I was just looking up gang activity there and it’s heavy. Definitely could be related his going missing.

MetroSafe dispatchers confirmed a call came in on a body found around 4:41 p.m.

Officer Beth Ruoff with Louisville Metro Police said officers found the body of a man on the shoreline near the Shawnee Boat Ramp.

LMPD said the identity of the man can not be confirmed at the moment, but based on early information from officers who spoke with family on scene, it is believed to be the victim of a kidnapping from earlier this week.

I really thought this could have been some kind of publicity stunt/ruse kind of thing it was just so off base for me. IMO Prayers for Jermaine and to his entire family/friends.

It’s possible family heard about a body being found and went to the scene trying to confirm whether it was their loved one or not.

Such a sad and tragic situation all around IMO.
Do we know for sure there was only one phone call & request for money? It’s possible LE was keeping a lot of details out of the media. An example would be his car that was found Fri. LE wouldn’t share how or where it was found.
I agree that it almost sounds as if they (suspects) already knew how it was going to end from the start.

The money looks fake to me as well but given the posts, the clothing, the hand gestures, the expensive cars etc, I'd be willing to bet gangs and/or drugs are involved. I feel for his mother, she didn't deserve this.

Police were unable to confirm the identity of the body as that of Jermaine Sprewer, 25, with absolute certainty.

However, based upon information received at the scene and from the family, an LMPD spokesperson said, "We believe it is the victim of the kidnapping this week."

Foul play is suspected, and the LMPD said they expect that, following the autopsy tomorrow, the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office will officially announce the victim’s identity.

Jermaine Sprewer's aunt, Darlene Fuller, was at the scene Saturday.

"I believe one of his friends here has identified his body and that breaks my heart," Fuller said.

Fuller flew into Louisville from Wisconsin Saturday. She landed at 5 p.m.

"The whole goal for us coming here was to hand out fliers, talk to people, see who knows something so we could find him," Fuller said.

Instead, when she left the airport, Fuller's daughter drove her directly to an active police scene in Shawnee Park.

In the case I mentioned in my prior post, the victim was also killed. From what I read of that other case, I think he died from all the beatings they gave him to keep him subdued, so perhaps it wasn’t part of the original plan. The ransom wasn’t paid in that case, too. Maybe something similar? JMO

I don’t know—who can understand the mind of kidnappers. Shaking my head. Very sad for Jermaine’s family.

It will be interesting to see how this plays out. I don’t think it was a random kidnapping. Hopefully the police know where his phone made the FaceTime call and that place connects to someone.
He seemed to be a good father from his Facebook posts, poor babies.
