Absurdity is afoot! Haleigh Cummings allowed to stay up and watch TV was bad parenting but this seven year old child staying in bed until someone comes to get him is ALSO bad or questionable parenting!

PS Is there a Reasonable Parenting Handbook that has yet to be linked?

I agree completely. Where is that parenting handbook?

I don't get it- I have a set time for my children to go to bed and to get up in the morning. If they can't fall asleep at night, or they wake up early in the morning, they are always allowed to read a book. They are not allowed to watch tv because I don't want them staying up or getting up just to watch tv. I'm a big meanie- I don't let them fall asleep watching tv, nor do I let them watch it in the mornings. They are not allowed to wander around the house while I am asleep. That is dangerous.

They don't complain about that much, because I cook them a hot breakfast from scratch every morning.

:waitasec:

Maybe his glasses where put up in a safe place and he couldn't see to get out of bed until someone came in? Like on a stand or shelf because he was afraid of breaking them? IDK Just tossing that out there just incase.

I think the staying in bed until someone came and got him is a little odd. It wouldn't be for an older kid, but to me, it is for a 7 year old. The getting a stuffed animal is what seems odder. Why not turn his tv on (if he has one in the room) or a little car or action figure.... I don't know, maybe he wasn't supposed to be noisy and wake the baby. I could definitely understand that better than a 7 year old not being ready to get up and start getting dressed or watch comedies.

Doesn't seem strange to me because I did exactly the same thing at Kyron's age. I was an avid reader and enjoyed the time to read uninterrupted.

My parents didn't make any rules about it but my mother did praise me every morning when she came in to get me. She had three kids and, with my now adult perspective, I realise that it made her morning a little easier to have one kid safely parked.

I watched the raw interview on KGW's website --

http://www.kgw.com/video?id=97177194&sec=547977

-- what strikes me is how often Kaine Horman shakes his head like he's saying "no" when he's saying something in the affirmative. His body language doesn't match what he's saying when he's talking about his wife Terri and how the family is cooperating and working to find Kyron at about the -18:15 mark to the -18:02 mark -- he's shaking his head "no" when he's saying what Terri and the family are doing to find Kyron.

I noticed that. But I think it is just his personality or his nature. He was very direct, made steady eye contact, never looked away. He didn't shift his eyes, and was very sincere. I found him to be believable.

Does anyone think it is a bit odd that Kyron wouldn't get up and out of bed until someone came in there and told him to? For some reason, that unnerved me. It seems like to me that he didn't feel very comfortable in their house? Or am I making something out of nothing? I know he is a very shy person but this is his home...most kids get up and out of bed when they wake up. I would love to hear what others think.
\Remember in the onterview, Kaine says he would get a stuffed animal and go get back in the bed UNTIL someone came in and told him to get up.

I don't think it's odd, weird, suspicious, or anything like that. All kids have their little quirks. He's a precious little boy, and that's just one of his quirks. Look at all the pictures of him. This child is happy, loved, and well cared for.

I thought about this when I saw this, then I thought about a conversation I had with my fiance lately. We are both avid movie lovers.

We had a conversation about what made actors believable, and in one movie it was specifically because the actor was supposedly saying something positive, but they were shaking their head no at the time. Basic drama over-acting 101 usually means the actors vigorously shake their head YES when they are saying yes... it is just never believable. Next time you watch a movie- of a REALLY good actor, see how many times their body language contradicts what they are saying. I know it makes no sense, but it's true. The actors who do that- Streep (watch Sophie's Choice and see how many times she does that), DeNiro- they all do that. In our conversation, I told my fiance I think it makes them believable because in real life, people do that. Perhaps they are answering affirmatively and truthfully, but their brain and body is reacting to having been asked the question at all, and is rejecting it. Blanchett and Winslet do it as well. I guarantee if you watch carefully in a GOOD movie, you will see it done. Which is also why I'm glad to have never dated an actor. Imagine the lying they could do, lol.

I'm sorry if I am posting this in the wrong thread, but I'm not sure where it should go.

Something struck me as odd this morning. DY said in the interviews that (paraphrasing...I wish I could find her exact words) that Kyron was shy and didn't like to venture off or wander off on his own.

So, why would he venture off on his own to see the "cool electric project?" I wish LE would verify if there even WAS an electric project! So frustrating.

FWIW I don't believe the electric project story. LE probably hasn't been asked about it, and has no idea.

I know quite a few kids that do this actually. Not uncommon at all! :)

Since T----- mentioned this in his videoed interview, I am sure LE has heard of the electric project, and has investigated to see if there was such a project and where it was located if there was one.

I didn't hear that. Do you know which interview it was?

Math makes me  You're right. I don't see, though, how the school could be that big that she could see him that far away if she was inside? Or am I that mathmatically challenged?
Just from looking at the Bing maps aerial view it looks like the school is just a little over 100 feet long. But that's a rough estimate. And I wouldn't put too much stock in TH's guess as to how long the hallway is. I think the most important point is that it establishes her claiming she was on one side of the school and Kyron was on the other. Since we know his classroom is located at the far side of the school away from the parking lot it seems that's what she was talking about...she was probably near the parking lot exit or the steps to the exit and Kyron was almost to his classroom.

May I please regress a "few" years and come live with you guys? I really love pancakes once in a while and don't need a tv ever if I can have a book.

Nowhere does it state that Kaine came home at noon. For all we know he came home just in time to meet Kyron at the bus.

IIRC, Kaine himself stated that he was working from home from noon on that afternoon. What he DOESN'T say is he came home from the office to work from home, so my question is: Was he home all morning as well, and just began "Working" at noon? Or had he physically been to his office in the morning and then came home to work at noon? Is this his normal routine?

Without having to reread this entire thread would someone please cue me in on what you're all talking about..."she could see him that far away if she was inside"...who's she and who is she seeing from where...

I was thinking similar. That the head shaking no is reacting to the larger implication of the question (your wife is involved) rather than being inconsistent with his own answer to the actual question. Especially if he's aware of the amount of negative attention on the sm. jmo

I may answer in the affirmative, all the while shaking my head at how horrible all of this is.

I don't think he said that he was home at noon. I do know he said that he was home in the afternoon.
