Kyron's parents' statements, interviews

There has been lots of complaining that the media was dancing around this case and not asking hard questions, etc...and then when they report something that people feel is insensitive there are more complaints...I guess they can't win either.

Perhaps the SAR's person should not have said this, but once he/she did, it is news. News is not meant to be censored to only print what won't hurt someone...not to mention that most or many people already believed the search was for Kyron's remains. This headline may or may not confirm that.

cluciano, what that SAR handler said was not indiscreet, it was a cue to his/her dog and meant only for that dog's ears.

What I find offensive about the story is how ignorant the reporter clearly is, thus leaving their readers in continued ignorance.

FEH!

The thanks buttons aren't enough for your last two posts. I hadn't considered cues. I was just so angry that such a thing was published. Excellent posts, as usual.

Thank you so much for confirming what occurred to me much later when I'd had a chance to think about it - that the SAR worker must have been speaking to his dog - the possible context any searcher might make such a comment had been bugging me.

And yet there stood Desiree this past Friday afternoon, all alone behind the microphones, with no one to stand beside her, while all the world seemed to fall down around her as she spoke the words: "I don't know what else to do..."

... While the billboards were coming down, while the MSM was reporting that the task force was not receiving the full assistance they had hoped for, while the funds were drying up, while her little boy is still not home after four months.

And then to have to bear the following weekend Sauvie Island searches, which, by all appearances, seem to have been for a deceased child, not a living child.

I can only imagine what it feels like for Desiree to now hear/read these words spoken by her ex-husband:

“I know people want an arrest. I know they want this thing to move along but what people need to remember is that the minute there is an arrest, the minute there are charges, the clock starts ticking and no one can afford to make a mistake.

“If we’re not ready, if there are holes, that would be tragic. We can’t afford to let whoever was responsible to get away with it.

“We have to be patient.”

Desiree holds to the belief that her precious little boy is alive - and she wants him back. My heart breaks for her.

IMO, KH seems to have already concluded that his son is deceased and is now focused on the prosecution of whomever is responsible for his son's demise.

Dear God - I hope someone is holding and comforting Desiree right now.

This post put tears in my eyes. I cannot even begin to imagine what this family is going through.

I noticed a couple of interesting things. It's impossible to tell from the story's wording whether KGW contacted KH or whether KH called them. And, the wording about Desiree in the media before usually has said "biological mother." But this story only refers to her as Kaine's ex-wife.

Hmmmm. Must ruminate on that.
just an observation and opinion... but the media's choice of words means nothing... It is what it is.... a word choice with no deeper secret meaning.

MOO of course

I'm going to bump up Tricia's "common sense" post. It's time for a review again.

The posts about Desiree being Kyron's mom are out of line.

Snipped from KGW phone interview

It seems he may be making reference to the expected demand of a "speedy trial" which can afford no mistakes. This was referenced before because Houze will probably go this route also.

Kaine has showed more composure during the interviews than any other parent I've seen in a case of their missing child. He quite literally has the patience of Job.

I still pray Desiree is right and Kyron is alive, my heart breaks for her.

I am wondering if his patience message was really a message for TH. Like Terri, I know you're getting to Desiree, but you're not and you never will get to me. I will wait it out until you get what you deserve no matter how long that takes.

If I was her, KH's patience would highly unnerve me. I wonder if she's a little more worried now that this isn't going anyway anytime soon.

You know i wish that KH & DY would hire themselves a really good PI with some of that money they got in donations. It might be surprising to see what a PI could come up with as opposed to LE. I mean if it helps to find Kyron, who really cares who finds him as long as he is found. I watched a real crime show on T.Vthe other week where a PI solved the murder of a woman that LE couldn't solve, very interesting what the PI found that LE had missed.

BBM. I agree about the private investigator, and I also wish the Kyron's parents would allow Equusearch to become part of the search for their missing boy. I know that it's difficult to consider searching for possible remains, but Kaine and Desiree have waited four months for their son to be located and that has not happened. Tim Miller and his team are compassionate when dealing with the parents/families of missing persons and would be respectful of Kaine's and Desiree's wishes in the search for their son. jmo

I would think if there come's a time in this case that Kaine and Desiree feel that LE can't solve it, they might hire a PI. So far it sounds to me that they are satisfied with the way LE is handling the case.

A multi-agency task force comprised of officers from the Douglas and Chelan county sheriff's offices, Wenatchee and East Wenatchee police departments, the Washington State Patrol Crime Lab, the Attorney General, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, and the FBI worked on the case.

"We are pleased we could make an arrest in this case to help bring some closure to Mackenzie's family as well as the rest of the community," said task force Cmdr. Robin Wagg.

Wagg praised the task force.

I want to think that the task force in Kyron's case is making progress just like in the McKenzie Cowell case, in which someone has now been arrested, and it's just a matter of time and yes, patience.

Do you think they actually won't let the Equusearch come in, or is it just that LE already has searchers on foot and horseback and ATV searching the areas of interest? Hope that doesn't come across as snarky - I really respect Tim Miller and I know he does a good job, and I'm curious to know if he was disallowed from searching or just not involved as yet?

Kaine's statement is to "us" who follow the case to "be patient." He has had 4 months to call Tim Miller and ask his assistance. I don't believe LE is the one being hesitant. I recall when two families in recent years made that call and in Tim rode. I believe the only reason he hasn't been here is because the family has not asked for him.

Kaine wishes "us" to be patient. I have invested 4 months of my life and energy into finding out what has happened to his son. I apologize in advance if my patience has worn thin.

:hugs: debs. You have to know how frustrated everyone who cares about Kyron is.

Bottom line, it is not our decision to make. We have not been briefed by LE. If it were my son missing, while I may not be happy with the fact that 4+ months into an investigation I am no where nearer to finding my son than I was the day he disappeared. BUT! Would I want to alienate the men and women who have tried so hard to find him? Even though I may not be happy with the result-do-date, I have to say that I would probably lend my support to the people who have worked so hard. Until such time as they said to me, there is no more we can do - I could not think to cross them. MOO.

I agree, i feel that Tim Miller and his team do some great work in helping families in these kinds of situations to find their loved ones. I think it surely couldn't hurt to try with all resorces available in helping to find Kyron. The more the better. I just hope and pray for Kyron's family to know what happened to him whatever that outcome may be, but they need to know. It must be the most terrible feeling to have to wonder where their child is, along with other poor families out there that also need that closure. God help them all to find their children.

If the people who love and need him the most can wait to make sure justice occurs, I guess I can as well.

It would be so nice to have a resolution, but some things need to happen in their own time. Including the parents' hearts being led to call Equisearch.

I was reading about Kyron on SM, and i think a poster mentioned on there that one of the searchers had a dog that had the name "Bones"??? Wonder if that is true if the word somehow got misconstrued by the reporter to mean they were searching for bones? They could have been searching for evidence too.
