"war between the believers and nonbelievers" would not be the focus of motive if he had killed his family
Quote is correct. Paraphrased the rest
*found the quote. no wonder I've had trouble finding it. told y'all i dont listen well

In the first video, Jabbar said he originally intended to harm his family but said that wouldn't have illustrated the "war between the believers and the disbelievers".

In the videos he also proclaimed his allegiance to the Islamic State group.

Watching the press conference and they said they have video of him placing the 2 coolers that contained the confirmed IEDs. They are asking for anyone that was near those coolers to come forward in case they saw something. He said some people were seen looking at the coolers...

My gosh I am glad those things didn't go off. Imagine just wandering around and seeing a cooler.. lots of young partiers out and about and it seems a random cooler would be interesting.. nobody thinks an abandoned cooler is a bomb.. ugh It is so fortunate that those 2 devices didn't go off.

I wonder when he placed the coolers.

I'm curious if those phones were going to detonate the IEDs.. who needs 3 phones? I see maybe 2 if you have a work phone and a personal cell.

A map shows where the truck swerved around a police vehicle, travelling along Bourbon Street where 15 people were killed, before the truck crashed into a vehicle and the driver was shot dead. Dots along the street show where bollards to limit driving access were due to be replaced

An annotated map shows that the incident happened at 03:15 local time on Bourbon Street near Canal Street in the French Quarter of New Orleans

Video shows the truck driving onto the pavement to get around a police car before hitting people

Borrowing your image to explain the barriers. A good one by the way. I’ve gotten a few PM asking about it.

This is the entrance from Canal Street to Bourbon Street. Any barriers placed there would be temporary, versus further down into the FQ where they are cemented into the ground.

During parades and other large crowd gatherings there are temporary metal barriers placed at every street butting up to Canal Street (both sides of Canal).

None of the temporary barriers that I have seen are adequate to stop an attack like this. They are lightweight and function as barricades for people who want to break the rules. It’s also easier for LE to spot them.

It used to be that you could go right up to the floats. People who were inebriated fell underneath the floats and died. As well as little children who break away from their parents. They no longer do that in this area because of those tragedies.

Hoping for more change to happen after this tragedy. This could be the perfect opportunity to force a much needed change. Funds just need to go to the right places.

Not sure if it was a congressman or perhaps the mayor who was involved in a scam in the last few years. Funds were spent on lavish personal expenses. It doesn’t matter if it’s a Democrat or a Republican, the corruption is far reaching.

@SkyNews

'At this point there is no definitive link between the attack in New Orleans and the one in Las Vegas' Christopher Raia, deputy assistant director of the FBI's counter-terrorism division provides an update on their investigations

The FBI says the New Orleans suspect, Shamsud-Din Jabbar, posted five videos to an online platform "proclaiming his support for ISIS".In one video Jabbar said he initially planned to only hurt his family and friends.

Moo...This event happened right in front of the hotel Georgia FB team, alumni and students were staying. They were evacuated for hours. (No link, several interviews on local channel 8 and CBS)

So sad.

I think it's a mistake to have the game today. I feel the teams are upset, parents, spectators, alumni and students attending the game are worried. They have to be this is a catastrophic event, mass casualty and the Governor thinks everyone should just go with the game.

I remember the Virginia Tech mass causality event. Students, parents and alumni were traumatized, severely upset, and classes were cancelled while we all mourned the loss.

Just my opinion and feeling great pain for the families
Louisiana AG wanted the game delayed until tomorrow but it is still scheduled for today.

Unfortunately, while football pales in comparison to the loss of human life, there is still a ton of money tied up in the College Football Playoff. If the Sugar Bowl were pushed to Friday, the CFP would have to consider moving the Orange Bowl back so that the winner didn't have such a short turnaround.

That would be particularly detrimental for Georgia, which last played in the SEC Championship on December 7. They would go from not playing a game in nearly a month to two games in six days.

What's already become a logistical nightmare will only become a bigger one by upsetting the schedule again.

This presser is sounding defensive, imo.

Does anyone else find it statistically improbable that Jabbar and the Vegas car bomber worked at the same air base and weren’t linked? I can’t imagine this is common…disturbing if statistically it is so common random coincidence occurs.

It makes sense that initially when they said others were involved.. 3 men and 1 woman because the cameras caught those people picking up the cooler/s and looking at them because it was sitting there abandoned. They were being overly careful to warn people yesterday in case those people were involved, but after talking to them, they were just out there enjoying the night and saw the cooler and looked in it or whatever.. picked it up.

Coolers were planted a couple hours before.. they just said after midnight and if he recalls correctly closer to 1am..
