I have been a member of this platform for a while but never have I been personally involved in a topic.Interesting @Elley Mae ….. and raises a next question IMO in the investigation of this horrid act - when did the now dead suspect place that flag? And who if anyone was aware of that? Did it happen just moments before? Maybe further investigation is warranted into this? MOO
I know how it works, neither would have set off red flags from renting at Hertz, Enterprises, Home Depot,or UHaul for that matter. Nor does it look like either thought they would surviveI think it makes more sense than them going into a traditional car rental company, with cameras and staff they'd have to interact with. Sounds like this app is hands off, with a code to access the car. Like an air bnb vs a traditional hotel or motel.

This is MOO my personal family experience perspective of this terrorist attack.
To start off.
My sister survived this attack.
First off, I’d like to share that she texted me early in the night to reassure me of the excessive police presence. That she felt very good about it and safe that night and that the city was really making a huge effort to keep people safe for new years.
As we all know now. It wasn’t going to be enough to stop the attack that was unfortunately coming.
She was in the hotel /bar first floor directly to the right where he crashed into the crane and then stepped out the truck and began to fire. (The image circulating media of crash location) She saw everything. Except him driving down the street running over innocent people moments prior. After she heard and saw the Crash into the crane she looked over the bar out to attempt to see what In the world the crash and commotion was and immediately heard significant amounts of gunfire. It was the amount of gunfire that was her and others initial realization something really terrible was happening just feet from her. We now know this is when he began to immediately fire upon others and LE following the crash. As shots began , she immediately instinctively hit the ground face down with others and army crawled to a nearby very small utility/supply closet to hide and take cover with two others. Others in the bar began dive and jump over anything they could to seek cover as well. While locked in the extremely small closet she continues hearing more gunfire briefly but mainly screams and cry’s of pure terror from others. Again. This happened very quickly and gunfire didn’t last very long.
According to her. Upon gunfire ending and waiting a few minutes to make sure it was okay to come out… she decided to come out of closet and stepped outside to see the absolute horrific scene. Dead bodies, many mangled bodies and A large number of injured people.
But most importantly she saw the Isis flag. Hanging from the back of the crashed truck. The doors where she walked out, lined up almost directly to the back of the truck where the flag was hanging. She didn’t immediately connect it to Isis but it registered to her in that moment as a terrorist flag. I cannot say when it was hung. But it was hung during the attack. Others saw it as well. Which was when LE and others forced her back inside to take cover and find safety in case the attack was not over. Then someone with her confirmed he saw the flag and was sure it Isis and he was certain of it. This amplified everyone’s fear.
What she saw on that street, carnage, terror the absolute worst brutality and human suffering you can imagine. No one should ever see. And can never unsee. I just can’t stress enough that in her details everything just happened so very fast followed by horror and confusion and helplessness and fear.
I’m extremely grateful she wasn’t injured and miraculously managed to stay calm and level headed.
I’d personally like to thank god, and all the LE and good samaritans there that risked their lives to take out this evil terrorist and save the lives of so many others there. I cannot imagine what would have happened had the bomb device in his truck detonated. That thought chills me to the my core.
I pray that the FBI uncovers every aspect of this attack and any all involved are brought to justice.
My genuine thoughts and prayers are with all of the victims, their families and those who witnessed or were apart of this attack.
I pray for safety, healing , peace and justice for everyone involved.
No there are no bodies in the street anymore, that was yesterday morningSo I guess 'the game must go on'. Personally, I think this is ridiculous. Aren't the bodies still lying on the street?
I love the relationship that the 610 Stompers and the Dancing Grannies have forged.![]()

IMO: She has no clue. The mayor.
Thank you. That really means a lot to me. I just cannot stop thinking about the explosive device in the back of his truck that by some miracle it didn’t detonate or go off. Grateful that it didn’t is an understatement. The idea of How close we came to losing her if that would have happened is tough right now.Thankful your sister survived !
I hope she'll be ok in the future.
I can't imagine trying to process witnessing this violent act.
Imo.
Tiger is from my community. The Catholic high school he attended held a prayer vigil. The priest went to New Orleans to be with his family.![]()

"I heard parents screaming and crying this afternoon. It just broke my heart," Cathy Tenedorio said, describing the agony of waiting to learn their son's fate.
Very compassionate of her to feel for the other parents ... while waiting and fearing for their own son.
Some nice photos of the victims at the link.

College football star among 15 victims of New Orleans terror attack
A former college football star, high school senior, father-of -two and young mother, are among the 15 victims killed in the horrific New Orleans terror attack.www.dailymail.co.uk
They all had so much life left to live.
This is so negligent. There may be friends and family still in the hotels lining Bourbon Street. How are they going to feel hearing the brass band in celebration of reopening the area??
They could have gone through with the game but keep the areas of the carnage respectively closed.
It’s about the dollars, not the victims and their families.
In a solemn tribute to the victims, 14 yellow roses were laid at the site of the attack, and a brass second-line band performed "I'll Fly Away" as part of the ceremony.
Kirkpatrick said showing respect and honoring the victims is important. Fourteen yellow roses were laid down for the victims to honor them.
"We walked down this street to show honor and respect," Kirkpatrick said. "And memories will always be there. People did not die in vain."
She added that the tragedy has prompted stronger security measures, making New Orleans and the nation safer. "Their deaths are not in vain and that is our balance," Kirkpatrick said.
Kirkpatrick said law enforcement and officials will return and restore normalcy. She said we can do that and still show respect and honor for those who lost their lives.
Again the driver drove up on the sidewalk the bollards only blocked the streetI hope they don't make any knee-jerk reactions about new barriers that fail to consider the need for crowd egress. Building code takes into consideration maximum occupancy of a space, numbers of exits, width of exits. They also have to think about people with disabilities navigating the space. If it is very narrow, it could be probably for wheelchair users.
Having the bollards implies the city acknowledged need for safety in that public area. Maybe that street was shut down for a few events each year? All over America, big cities to small towns temporarily shut down streets for parades, firework celebrations, block parties and such to protect gathered pedestrians. The most common risk being unaware drivers.
