Nothing was said about the current status of the perp? Is he alive? On the run?

I looked up the plate number and found registerant's name. (Dunno if I can post it here)
I believe the police or MSM should report the name first. Could be a stolen vehicle/plate. MOO

If the perp is on the loose, he could strike again. Especially if he doesn't care about surviving.

I didn’t hear anything about the suspect.
Which I find odd. Shouldn’t they say that he is on run and for people to be careful stay in because he has gun?

Reportedly he got out of the vehicle wearing full body armor and firing a rifle. He got away.
Edit: Correction: He did not get away. Reportedly the police shot him when he exited the vehicle.

Police reporting it was a man who committed this evil act

No surprises there.

So tired of these attacks and innocent people being murdered.

Apparently the mayor labeled the event a terrorist attack, but the FBI denied that.

According to LE, the perp also wasn't disguised, so he could be recognized.

Yes because acts of terrorism are defined by motivation. "Terrorism" actually has a fairly narrow definition. Since the motive isn't known yet it's not appropriate to categorize it as a terrorist attack, strictly speaking. It may turn out to be, but calling it that now is premature. Not surprised FBI denies it (for now)

Just absolute evil.

If the attacker was dead, why would the police fail to mention it in their public address?

Strange but if there was a heavily armed and dangerous man on the loose surely they would say for people to stay indoors or whatever

CNN Reporting possible explosive devices on vehicle :

" “There were improvised explosive devices that was found, and we are working on confirming if it’s a viable device or not,” said Alethea Duncan, Assistant Special Agent in Charge for the FBI’s New Orleans office. "

So the perp is dead. Strange that the police didn’t mention it at the press conference.

Mayor of New Orleans calls incident a "terrorist attack"
The FBI seemed to decline that it was a terrorist attack: Man slams truck into crowd on New Orleans' Bourbon Street, killing at least 10 people

“Mayor LaToya Cantrell referred to it as a likely "terrorist attack," but an FBI official who spoke along with the other officials Wednesday morning did not characterize it that way”

Maybe they’re just waiting for some kind of confirmation of motive? MOO

ETA: I personally don’t understand how it WOULDN’T be a terrorist attack when he:
-was armed
-was wearing body armor
-had potential IED in vehicle
-intentionally drove through barricades
-was shooting into the crowd while driving
-got out and began shooting at police

???

FBI says 'this is not a terrorist event', contradicting New Orleans mayor

Special agent Alethea Duncan is speaking now. She has taken over the case on behalf of the FBI.

"This is not a terrorist event," she says. This contradicts the mayor, who earlier described it as such.

It's not clear why the FBI's and the mayor's descriptions of the incident differ, but we're working to find out more.

Duncan goes on to say there is a possible explosive device found at the scene, and authorities are working to find out if it is "viable".

She stresses that the public should stay away from the area, "until we can figure out what is going on".

Think it may be better if they all just say they're unsure yet whether it was a terrorist incident or not.

It may not fit the FBI’s definition of a terrorist attack, but I guarantee the people involved were most definitely terrorized.
