According to ABC News, the Ford F150 truck used in the attack was a vehicle rented through the Turo app – a carsharing company. Truck owner Rodrigo Diaz told ABC that he rented this truck to an individual through Turo and that he is currently talking to the FBI. He declined further. comment.

I would not allow gov ppl to tell me to not talk.

New Hampshire representative James Spillane said in a post on X, formerly Twitter: "The attacker was flying a flag from the back of his pickup truck. Truck has Texas plates. Police covered up the flag with a jacket immediately! What flag is it???"

The truck that deliberately drove into the crowds on Bourbon Street appears to have been flying a flag. The "flag", which was wrapped up shortly after the crash according to social media photos, appears to be black with white marks on it.

Neither the FBI nor police have publicly commented on the flag. The FBI confirmed they are investigating the incident as an act of terrorism but it is not yet clear whether they believe it is international terrorism or domestic.

Several members of Congress have demanded answers on the flag and criticized police for apparently covering it up following the crash.

Political commentators have also pointed out the apparent similarities between the flag on the truck, which had a Texas license plate, and the ISIS flag.

The terrorist group's flag is black and features white Arabic text that states, "There is no God but Allah, and Muhammad is his messenger." There is also a white circle containing black Arabic text.

While the truck's black flag is wrapped up in pictures from the scene, it does appear to feature white marks.

The truck was rented in Texas, so i doubt the suspect took it over the border, if thats whats being insinuated
If the truck is a rental then it could have crossed the border by another driver. Obviously the murderer wasn't concerned about the truck being identified, he didn't even swap out the plates.

What a tragedy!
And so soon after Magdeburg attack :(
I've never been to the US
but Bourbon Street seems magical to me since I heard Sting's beautiful song.

RIP to all poor victims.
Condolences to families :(

From the article linked above:

According to The Advocate, a set of security barriers that were set up in 2017 to prevent terrorist attacks along Bourbon Street were in the midst of being replaced when the incident happened.

Pretty fortuitous for the murderer and how slack of NO to not have security barriers in place with so many in the city for NYE and Sugar Bowl. All JMO

Bodies described as "horribly disfigured" were lying on the street, according to a man who witnessed the harrowing scene along Bourbon and Canal streets.

"It was unbelievable," Jimmy Cothran told NBC News in an interview Wednesday morning. He compared the carnage on the streets to something he'd previously seen only in movies

Moving forward owners of the autos that are privately rented need to consider their personal liability and the risk. At least own the car through an LLC so your personal information isn't known. I find it risky for everyone to do this. All JMO

I had no idea that kind of private car rental agency existed. That seems like a huge liability. More for everyday accidents or DUI.

Photos taken after the collision show what appears to be a metallic gray jacket wrapped around a flagpole, but a video shot earlier in the morning showed what appears to be a black flag dangling from the same 'pole'.

Kudos to the NO police officer who called it right.

I've heard of it. The FAQ's on the website are pretty shocking. This says that the driver doesn't even need insurance -

Do I need my own insurance?

No, you don’t need personal insurance coverage to rent a car on Turo. In the US, any personal insurance you may have that covers damage to the host’s vehicle would kick in before your Turo protection plan. When booking a car in the US, you’ll choose between three protection plans — Premier (eligibility requirements apply), Standard, or Minimum — to get the level of protection that’s right for you. On each trip, you’re covered with third-party automobile liability insurance provided under a policy issued to Turo by Travelers Excess and Surplus Lines Company.*

Sources told Fox News that the suspect who killed at least 10 and injured over 30 New Orleans partygoers drove his truck across the border through Eagle Pass, Texas, just two days ago.

Well that's BS considering it wasnt his truck. If he was illegally here, why would he cross back into mexico after renting the truck. Wouldnt that be a huge risk
