Why would they mention that?
Stoking hate. I'm in the area right now. This is a horrible tragedy and many are still unable to find their loved ones. Local officials have said the death toll will likely rise. Seeing people using this to push an agenda is disgusting.

City council member in New Orleans says barricades were under construction at the time of the attack. That’s why the terrorist was able to get onto Bourbon Street.

University of Georgia student was critically injured in the New Orleans attack and is receiving medical treatment.

FBI says Islamic State group flag was recovered in vehicle used by attacker who killed at least 10 in New Orleans.

Other potential IEDs have also been located in the French Quarter.

The FBI’s Special Agent Bomb Technicians are working to see if the additional IEDs located in the French Quarter are viable.

What a horrible, senseless incident. Hard to fathom. :(

It may not fit the FBI’s definition of a terrorist attack, but I guarantee the people involved were most definitely terrorized.

jmo
when a driver mowed down a bunch of people in a bike lane in NYC in 2017, it was in the NYT as a terror attack. I see this as such as well.

Officials recovered weapons and a potential IED inside the vehicle as well as an ISIS flag, which the FBI “is working to determine the subject’s potential associations and affiliations with terrorist organizations,” the statement read. Other potential IEDs were located in the French Quarter. Authorities are working to determine whether any of the devices are viable.

I keep seeing mention of the ISIS flag found inside the vehicle. Is it possible there is a different flag on the pole on the back?

On Wednesday afternoon, UGA President Jere W. Morehead confirmed one student was critically injured. The student has not been identified.
The University of Georgia Athletic Association says all team members and personnel who traveled with the football program are safe.
The University of Georgia Red Coat Marching Band says all of their members are also safe and accounted for.

New Orleans isn’t the only major city hosting a playoff game on Wednesday. The Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl kicks off at 1 p.m. at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta.

Atlanta police said it had already increase security measures days before the Peach Bowl. After what happened in New Orleans, they are taking a few more precautions.

My guess is that these won’t up being actual IED’s, but we’ll see. Lots of confusion when these things happen.
Yeah it's my understanding that when authorities find objects they think might be IED, the protocol is to destroy them with a controlled detonation. I don't know how, technically, they do this, but it means that even if something isn't an IED, authorities use their own gear to blow it up. People hear these small detonations and assume actual IEDs are involved, even when they aren't.
That's my rather limited understanding, anyway

Just a few comments I have about the military and people like this guy who served time and then end up committing horrific acts..

I don't know that the military creates these people. I think this type of person is attracted to the military. I am married to a servicemember and my son also is a servicemember. I've been surrounded by servicemembers for over 20 years now in many places all over the US. They get all kinds that join the military and often those that are "off" are weeded out early on. Failure to adapt and/or they get in some trouble and get kicked out. Some are just good at hiding whatever makes them like this. I know Israel Keyes was in the Army also.

Those that are impacted by their time in the military and come out with mental health struggles usually only want to harm themselves. We see that WAY more often than anything like this.
