My mother-in-law...a teetotaler...did this with her kids to help numb their gums when they were teething. It was very common back in "the day."

My Irish grandma told me about whiskey on the gums for teething. She tried that on my son, Bless Her Gaelic Soul, and he cried non-stop for an hour until I could get the taste out of his mouth. lol I guess it worked, he was so exhausted from crying he fell fast asleep.

The carrier can get the searches that were made on the phone as well as calls, the ONLY thing they cannot get are the photo's. IMO they want those phones because it will show that Lisa was not kidnapped and or they are with Lisa.

TY.But.. a kidnapper could have tossed the phones away once he left the home... IMO the only way the phones would discredit the kidnapper story is if they were found in a well-hidden place in the home... Or. if they were, say, found to have been flushed down the toilet... The whole taking the cell phones scenario seems to reflect the thinking patterns of someone very young and naive.. MOO

I just don't find that plausible.

I don't fully find it believable, HOWEVER, the weird things in the home, the lights being turned on, the screen bent inward, the cell phones and the baby taken, nothing else, all of that made me wonder if a 'crazy' person was the intruder. There ARE weirdos that do unusual, unexplainable things.

That's great thinking... but!
Why would cell phones on a charger not be found when in reality they should be carrying a ping? Does the kidnapper stop and destroy the phones right away? Well, my theory still stands. River. Water will ruin a phone fast enough to stop a ping.

Ghost phones as in non existent. I dont know about that because I am sure they would have had to give phone numbers to the police and easily check this out by calling the carrier and getting a subpoena for the records. That would be too easy to check out IMO.

Agree. I also believe the entire purpose of saying the phones are missing, presumably that the abductor took them, means that cell phones do exist. Also one of the phones allegedly came from a relative, IIRC, since DB's was 'broken'.

It was just a joking way to say that I was pretty sure that they had found the phones.

Really? I'm not sure; it seems with the phones (depending on where found) along with the dogs and the timeline, they would have enough for an arrest. So I don't know what to think about the phones right now.

Ah, but she wasn't a drinker. She never had a drink in her life. Back in the day they didn't have a Walgreens on every corner, so they used whatever remedies were at hand. MIL's sister had terrible arthritis in her legs at a young age. They rubbed kerosene on her legs because they thought it would help ease the pain! Kerosene. Can you imagine??!! Of course when I was little mothers thought nothing of giving kids paregoric (aka camphorated tincture of opium) for the slightest tummy ache. You didn't even need a prescription to get the stuff either.

Point being...families hand down home remedies. Some are good...some, not so much and downright dangerous.

Yes, putting a cotton ball soaked in whiskey on a toothache is what I learned as a home remedy. Rubbing alcohol on a baby's gums was what everybody did. Whoa, kerosene rub downs - I'm glad I missed that remedy.

Hopefully the large carpet removed from the house will yield additional evidence, to whatever else LE may have at this point.

Sadly, with the information regarding the cadaver dogs, I believe it is highly improbable little Lisa is still alive. However, trying to convince a jury on "dog scent" and suspicious coincidences alone could be disastrous.

:(

JMO, but I'm wondering if there are photos of a deceased Baby Lisa on those phones.

According to my daughter, Oraljel is out now too due to it numbing the throat and possible Sids related.

I know they searched the river but how well did they search the river. Did they just kind of wade in and look around or did they get out those nets and drag a portion of it?

I lived in Overland Park from about age 10-17 and I know they found bodies in the river from time-time. My mom grew up near the river and found a dead body once when she was little. :gasp:

For peeps who think there are photos/videos on the phone(s) What do you think those photos and videos show ?

O/T: They still sell it though. I've used the all natural kind for my youngest however the homeopathic teething tablets work better. I forget the brand.

exactly...owning up to them.. that they exist.. and that they are **boom** missing on the same night
-your kid is taken
-you left the window open
-you cannot remember if lights were left on
-you cannot remember if you locked the front door
-the first night your fiance' worked nights
-you are unsure on the time you last saw your daughter who is 11 months old after you put her in a crib allegedly at 6:40 pm.

---------

frankly unless there is another witness that can say "hey I saw the baby at x time or z time that night" I am having a really hard time believing this mom on anything she says. I am sure they are having an equally hard time.

--------

also: (VENT ALERT) who the heck lawyers up four days into a missing baby case? There are reports out there (sorry I have to find back up links) that they ended the questioning as early as two to four days in. They claimed to national media they want to help but this is not true obviousl:twocents::twocents:

ITA Kimster - especially since in was in the 40's. I would have noticed that as well. I wonder how close the second sighting (4:00 AM) was to JI's relatives house(s)? All that's been said is that sighting was about 3 miles away from the house.
Kinda behind - had to take a break from this. It wasn't in the 40's. The low that night was about 60. Still too chilly for a nearly naked baby, though. But not cold, just chilly. It was beautiful out that night.
