Sheriff: Aaron Hernandez exhibits some 'sociopathic issues'

Hernandez told guards that verdict was ‘wrong’

“Over the course of time I’ve had a lot of opportunities to speak with him and one of the things that I learned was that he is the best I’ve ever seen at manipulation. He is the best I’ve ever seen at compartmentalizing things so that he doesn’t have to deal with the here and now,” Hodgson said, adding, “he is a master at using his charm to position himself and get what he needs. I’ve never seen anybody better at it. Literally if he sat down with you and you had not met him before within five minutes you’d be saying ‘hey listen, let’s go out and get a beer.’ ... He’s very respectful - but I saw the other side.”

Comments on the AC360 interview with jurors?
My impressions are that it was a bit different vibe than first interview..maybe because of AC or more formal setting ...different people talking and limited to mostly 2 or 3. The forewoman did not speak this time. One thing that struck me is that there was not that uniform head shaking on many of the questions indicating to me that the deliberations could have at times been very heated...I definitely think that some jurors had to be brought over to the murder 1...I think they are all comfortable with the verdict but I don't think it was easy getting there...before that interview last night I thought the time taken was mostly for going over so much evidence...but now I think there were some that wanted a different outcome but finally were convinced. I imagine that any jurors that were hesitant on murder 1 now are certain after all they learned after the verdict.

I am also concerned that the "reign of terror of AH" is far from over...he has so many on the outside just waiting for the signal to go after various people involved in this case. Probably be a long time in the future after his appeals are rejected and the next trial does not go his way.

Niice feeling this week 2 very dangerous people behind bars forever!!

Hi turaj.

I didn't really notice the head-shaking because I was mostly focused on the person talking. That was very observant of you.

I kind of think that maybe it took a little longer for the red-haired woman who was sitting in the front to, 1. understand and read the directions, and 2. decide. I say this because she said herself that once she "got" the instructions, then she knew what verdict to give. She stated that she read the instructions and actually made other jurors re-read them to her (I guess out loud) so that she could understand them thoroughly, and that she did this until she understood all the directions to her satisfaction. And she also stated that she didn't think there was enough evidence for pre-meditation, but that she thought there was most definitely extreme atrocity and cruelty.

To me, I think it was maybe this issue as well as perhaps some other people also had question re: instructions and difference between M1 and M2.

I think it's great that she wanted to understand the law and understand the directions.

I thought all the jurors seemed very intelligent and very fair. They were adamant that they at first presumed Aaron innocent and that they went by what the instrucitons and law told them to do.

They seemed like a cohesive group one of which was never (IMO) available in the Arias trials (cohesiveness I mean). I don't know if that's credit to the prosecution in their voir dire, or the defense, both, or maybe just luck.

I am so glad Anderson did the interview! So proud of the jurors!

Yes, I believe him! In the courtroom, he would flash that mega-watt smile when the jury was out of the room to his lawyers. I kept thinking, wow he is so charming when he wants to be (I could smell the charm through the TV...haha). He would show those dimples and act so sweet-looking. I can imagine people, MANY people being manipulated by him.

Like I said yesterday, the story Robert Kraft told of giving AH the $40 mil contract to sign, and right there on the sport AH writes a huge check for one of Kraft's charities. He knew exactly what to do do, excuse me, kiss-a** and exactly whose a**es to kiss.

I think Arpaio should send the Jodi Arias "HOW TO NOT LET THEM MANIPULATE YOU" memo to AH prison staff.

Oh sorry, someone told me that was a fake account and they were just making fun of Goodell.

Ditto for me....I got tied up with real life and missed it..hoping to find it on YouTube soon?

If you go to AC360 section on CNN website, they usually post all the interviews there. I haven't checked though 'cause I watched it last night.

Lol, no, it's a joke, essentially making fun of the prior poor history of really bad behavior only receiving a slap on the wrist.

I just watched the other extensive interview they gave yesterday...very interesting and a bit less formal....clearly they are one group and are proud of their job. I did not like Garsh or the system of just picking the foreperson but it seemed to work...they all got onboard and she seemed very good for the job...and now thanks to Garsh really no appeal possible.

Thanks SStarr, below the article is a video about the double murder with the fathers of the victims, at the end the reporter says that trial will be rescheduled in a matter of days. I hope so, it was jarring to hear the original date was cancelled right after the verdict, you just never know if a higher court will find a legal fault and allow a retrial, and having the double murder trial will (imo) guarantee this serial shooting sociopath never walks the streets again, not to mention justice for the family and loved ones of the two men he killed in that incident.

my reaction to the trial delay is more than the first trial lasted longer than expected...they probably want a minimum number of days in advance of next trial to get him situated in prison before he leaves daily again...attorneys (not sure if they are the same?) need time and some strategies may be different now. Frankly the last thing on my mind is any reasonable appeal...I mean it has to be accepted to go to the next level right? I just can't think of any strategy for appeal that could be valid....I am sure he is not happy with his attorney's advice on some things but I think they did their best given the evidence....in retrospect...they should have just admitted he was there from the start because clearly Sultan's "bomb" at the end did not sit well with the jury...also I get the feeling that the jury would have liked to see him on the stand...they counted on an OJ result but in this case AH getting on the stand may have been to his advantage.

A double rainbow emerged over the tree line that evening, but Lloyd’s mother, Ursula Ward, didn’t believe the sun shone down on her until Wednesday. She sat in Courtroom 7 at the Fall River Justice Center when Hernandez, standing among his attorneys, listened to the jury forewoman’s guilty verdict. He was told to sit down in a swivel chair so that his hands and ankles could be shackled. Hernandez complied, his harrowing fall complete with him being convicted of first-degree murder, the jurors reasoning “extreme atrocity or cruelty” for a crime that carried mandatory life in prison without parole. Ward trembled when the verdict came. She recalled anger and pain, saying she wanted to join Lloyd in his grave when he was buried.

“My baby — just like God has left his footprint in the sand, my baby’s footprint is in my heart forever,” she said.
