GUILTY MA - Ana Walshe, 39, allegedly left home, may have been dismembered, Cohasset, Jan 2023 *husband indicted* #4

At 22:04 Cem says that BW told him on NYE that he had misplaced his phone.

Sounds like premeditation to me IMO BW making a point to tell someone that.
Same. TBH I was thinking it wasn’t premeditated…. until that statement, and I’m glad they brought that up again today to make that point.

Also… why? Why did he say he misplaced his phone? A guess, if CM (or anyone) was looking for Ana, who wasn’t answering, they would not be surprised if he didn’t answer?

Remember the defense belaboring how much BW loved her

Then why was he searching for the many divorce queries on 12/27

And the building emergencies on 12/29

Add in the misplacement of the phone, like you say

And finally the 6 hour chunk of time on 1/1, requested on 12/22

That was either a she's not gonna leave me dinner reservation or I need an amount of time to get rid of her time frame

Turns out it was the latter.

I think it was as simple as her saying I can't do this anymore.

Very good catch!

IMO the CW didn't present a lot of evidence of premeditation. It doesn't appear he PLANNED to murder her.... but it does appear that changed. Seeing her natural affection with another man probably chafed him, then the photo gift for WF probably enraged him.

I think her necklace broken when he strangled her (MOO). He DID NOT want the children to wake up (or he may have gone full ChrisWatts) and Ana would NOT have wanted to leave her previous children alone with this sudden mad man. IMO he did intend to kill her -- silence her fatally -- he just didn't mean to create a crime scene.

Thanksgiving/Christmas with the lover-only to return January 4th. I think the January 4th put him over the edge. Maybe he saw a text? I didn’t see the whole trial. Did the commonwealth mention BW seeing a text about that or finding out about it?

I'm way behind in this trial. I've watched what I hope is most of the defense closing argument. I was a bit surprised at that the comments on this thread that were belittling the defense lawyer. I thought he was doing a very impressive job, much to my disappointment. The defense wasn't given much to work with but they've created a bit of confusion, which is their job.

I really hope that the Commonwealth came through with a strong argument in closing, so I'm off to check that out tomorrow, when I get a chance.

Judge Diane Freniere gives instructions to the lawyers at the trial of accused murderer Brian Walshe of his wife Ana Walshe. Stuart Cahill/Pool/BH

Deliberations in Brian Walshe’s murder trial will resume Monday after jurors on Friday failed to reach a verdict.

If the jury convicts Walshe of first-degree murder in the death of his wife, Ana, he would be sentenced to life without the possibility of parole. They could also decide to convict him of a lesser charge, or acquit him.

The jury, which is composed of six men and six women, deliberated for a little more than three hours before the day in court ended.

Here’s how the day unfolded. (see link below)

DAY 10 – 12/12/25

  • LIVESTREAM: MA v. Brian Walshe – Day 10 | The Disappearance of Ana Walshe Murder Trial
    • Closing arguments began Friday in Brian Walshe’s murder trial.
    • Prosecutors highlighted Brian Walshe’s actions on Jan. 1, 2023 — the same day Ana was last seen alive — when he went to multiple Massachusetts pharmacies and hardware stores to buy heavy-duty cleaning supplies, a Tyvek protective suit and a utility knife.
    • The purchases came after internet searches early that morning that included, “How long before a body starts to smell?” and “Dismemberment and best ways to dispose of a body.”
    • Defense attorney Larry Tipton told jurors not to base their decision on the “upsetting and terrifying and at times, disgusting” acts Brian admitted to doing to Ana’s remains after she was dead.
    • Jurors were shown surveillance footage of Brian at stores like CVS, Walgreens and Lowe’s, where he purchased items including hydrogen peroxide and ammonia.
    • Prosecutors connected Brian to items found at a trash processing facility near his mother’s home, including a hatchet, hacksaw, a Tyvek suit, a Prada purse, boots like those Ana was last seen wearing and her COVID-19 vaccination card.
    • Investigators testified Ana had taken out a $2.7 million life insurance policy naming Brian as beneficiary.
    • Friend Alissa Kirby told jurors Ana seemed exhausted by travel and stressed about her marriage, and that Brian often questioned whether she loved him.
  • Jury Question at 3:33 p.m. ET. The jury is asking about the following exhibits:
    • Commonwealth Exhibit #189 – Photo of Plastic Container with Clumped Substance and Blood Clots
    • Commonwealth Exhibit 97 – Ana Lying on a Rug
  • The jury went home for the day at 4:15 p.m. ET. Will return Monday to continue deliberations at 9 a.m. ET.

She was at home with BW and their friend on New Year’s Eve but not reported missing until January 4th.

His Defense brought up texts today in his closing and said there is no evidence that BW saw them or suspected an affair. I think that’s hogwash IMO

Clumps... of tissue. Thought it might be tissue. Determined it maybe was not. Also tested some other specks.

I'm crying.
There was no human tissue or human bone fragments ever recovered or tested!

This came out during testimony that Ana's DNA was on the hatchet and bloody towels, yet Brian's DNA was excluded from a number of the items, including the hacksaw, bloody towels, and paper tissue tested.

After watching both closings and then listening to Court TV lawyers in the aftershow----I AM NERVOUS about the verdict.

Court TV seems to think it'll be a hung jury or possibly a NG.

When I read some of the Prosecution closing it sounded great. But the presentation was underwhelming. Maybe it was better in person?

But it sounded like she was bored and mumbling. I actually think the D sounded more passionate and engaged.

It worries me. I hope this is a very intelligent jury with a great leader to help them digest everything. Someone needs to connect all of the dots. It is beyond a reasonable doubt that he killed her before he disposed of her, but only if someone connects all the dots.

😬

What about the blood clots on the rug that was thrown out with the bloody slippers. I think that could be very incriminating since it was thrown out before he even bought the disposal supplies.

True enough.

It was emotional testimony for me anyway. A vibrant woman who had the right to be human, reduced to blood clots and some hairs, but a weak man who thought making her smaller would make him greater.

He could not have been more wrong.

I hope the jury sees through his four days of serious cleaning to the truth of what he did.

What is the general consensus about Ana staying in or leaving the marriage?

Brian's no doubt a psychopath who killed the mother of his children. I'm just glad that 2nd degree murder is on the verdict form because I think the MSP failed the prosecution. We didn't even hear Ana's text messages because the commonwealth didn't want to call them as witnesses. And these messages were admitted as evidence!

@sunfumplr there is a media thread that will help you with the timeline. Media threads are not chat threads. At the bottom of this page you will find it.

Lots of information in this article from 2023. Not sure if it has been posted on here before but it is worth the read.
