IMO the CW didn't present a lot of evidence of premeditation. It doesn't appear he PLANNED to murder her.... but it does appear that changed. Seeing her natural affection with another man probably chafed him, then the photo gift for WF probably enraged him.

I think her necklace broken when he strangled her (MOO). He DID NOT want the children to wake up (or he may have gone full ChrisWatts) and Ana would NOT have wanted to leave her previous children alone with this sudden mad man. IMO he did intend to kill her -- silence her fatally -- he just didn't mean to create a crime scene.

I just know if I was the juror tasked with filling that out, I'd be terrified of messing it up somehow. It's like whenever I go to vote, I'm always scared I'll somehow accidentally put the X in the wrong box

This tells me the jury is being deliberate with their deliberations.

BW's claim is SUDS. He was no required to give ANY defense. But he did.

So his claim is that she died naturally, suddenly and without explanation. He did not mention, "well, there were blood clots but I thought I'd be blamed for them"...

AND he tried to clean those blood clots up, presumably even before he began dismembering her.

Pretty sure dead bodies don't clot. So the clotting event occurred ahead of the dismembering.

Reasonable to presume she was injured and clotting in real time on that rug before he decided to dismember her.

No reason for blood clots on a rug he replaced if she died naturally without explanation.

Ah ye savage person you, obviously Ana had her period and was braced against him in pain whilst naked so the clots just fell on his slippers. Obviously, said no one ever.

I do sometimes wonder if there are ever cases where the jury just goes, "So we all agree they're guilty, right? Okay, let's just sit for a bit so it seems like we're taking our time. Shall we ask a question so it looks like we're thinking about it?"

Served on a criminal trial (not murder) and that’s what happened. We were a conscientious group w/no illogical outliers & a great foreman, so we did go back over key pieces of evidence, confirmed the timeline, vented (mostly cried) for a while, then re-voted.

The jurors are in my heart now. I hope they deliver a just verdict. The message will be especially powerful if they deliver it today, IMO. There are factors we can’t be privy to, obviously.

Maybe he used that knife to cut off that GUCCI necklace that WF maybe gave her and got part of her neck during this, then finished it off by strangling her.

IANAL …. so likely a quite dumb question. Nevertheless…… so IIUC that form, jurors could in one scenario it seems check more than one box? Was there instruction on that? (And yes, likely showing I am not up to speed nor following closely ….)

and premeditation can happen in the matter of seconds. A decision to kill, followed by actions to make it so. But yes, he didn't seem to have had a long period in which he planned this murder or he'd have had a better idea of how he wanted to dispose of the body.

I do think you are right in that he didn't want a bloody death, I think he wanted to smother her or whack her in the head and try to kill her in a way that might be passed off as natural or accidental death.

Officers, I woke up and my beloved wife was dead. Hold on, let me just call my insurance company.

Here's what's interesting. To me. Two charges.

There may be 100% consensus that he murdered her but are divided over premeditation.

I think the sentence will be the same either way (I hope) but I can see a lively, reasoned debate over premeditation. There's a lot there to massage.

Just what is premeditation. Did he premeditate? For days? Minutes?

For me, the greatest evidence that he did her great bodily harm is that his very next thought is dismemberment. He couldn't risk her body EVER being found.

He also couldn't risk LE being alerted before he had baking soda'd his house, to the poundage of 24. That is an incomprehensible amount of baking soda.

So he just carried on, counting on the holiday to cover for Ana's dead digital life.

I think he hadn't yet decided how he was going to play it.

Here's the ugly O'Henry ending -- the first of those holidays -- the first she is there with him -- he murders her.

What time was his first search?

He didn't wait long.

He didn't even bother with a wordy or meaningful NY message.

IMO Ana was already dead (in his mind), he was just waiting for Cem to leave.

Let's hope the jury includes thoughtful people like we have here. Many of you have brought up points about premeditation that didn’t occur to me. I have no doubt, but it's important to be able to address doubts jurors may rightfully have.

Same. TBH I was thinking it wasn’t premeditated…. until that statement, and I’m glad they brought that up again today to make that point.

Also… why? Why did he say he misplaced his phone? A guess, if CM (or anyone) was looking for Ana, who wasn’t answering, they would not be surprised if he didn’t answer?
