Man charged with assaulting missing Rehoboth woman​

REHOBOTH, MASS. (WHDH) - A Rehoboth man was arrested in connection to a missing pregnant 18-year-old, according to officials.

The Bristol County District Attorney’s Office says Gregory Groom, 22, is charged with aggravated assault and batter on a pregnant person, domestic assault, and battery and intimidation of a witness against Kylee Monteiro, who went missing two weeks ago.

Officials say Groom is being held without bail and will be arraigned Wednesday morning at Taunton District Court.

Family members confirm with 7NEWS that an ongoing police search in the area of County Street in Rehoboth is in connection to Monteiro’s disappearance.

How? LE has to have proof of this, real evidence. It makes me think they have found DNA/blood that matches Kylee's. No body but evidence of her harm. There's that red shed in the photo as well along with LE. (may be in link above from other commenter). So horribly sad. Hate this, but if need be, her friends and family have their answer. They must have strong evidence not hearsay or even texts between them.. IMO

John DePetro ran a live on YouTube ("Breaking News on Missing Kylee") where he linked in some "reporters" at the scene as an army of police, K9s, and the excavator was at the boyfriend's property. A tent is visible. He reports that he has a source who says the boyfriend has confessed.

How? LE has to have proof of this, real evidence. It makes me think they have found DNA/blood that matches Kylee's. No body but evidence of her harm. And now LE can put him behind bars and keep working the case with him safely away from hurting others/self or fleeing, and also put the pressure on him to give info where she is.

I suspect we will have more charges eventually.

Aggravated assault. I would so hope she is there, alive, for this charge, or it is just finding lots of harmed evidence but 'no body' means they cannot charge him with murder at this point. Either or this is. IMO. They can work on him now, they have him for these charges, he won't get out. He had to have help as well. IMO

From all the things I'm hearing and reading right now, it sounds like the boyfriend reported to the police station for an interview today. I'm hearing that he "confessed" while there---my assumption is that he confessed to assaulting her (and maybe some other things), and they charged him with the assault to keep him in jail, but won't charge him with murder until they retrieve her body. But the fact that there's "an army of K9s and police" at his property, an excavator, a tent erected & evidence bags, it's highly likely they have very good reason to believe she's there.

He has no prior arrests in Atterboro District Court (I haven't checked elsewhere as it looks like his lived there some years). He's a produce clerk at a grocery store according to his LinkedIn page. https://www.linkedin.com/in/gregory-groom-326798316?trk=people-guest_people_search-card

This isn't sounding good, the tent being out means they have some serious forensic teamwork going on, and you usually don't see that when someone is just "missing".

Grim. I am so sorry. When a pregnant woman is missing, I always post the above article, that Homicide is the number one cause of death for pregnant women in the United States.

Ever since the Laci/Scott Peterson case, I have been intrigued by this statistic, and I tend to follow cases of missing pregnant women. Sadly, so many of them turn out to be homicides.

When I read that she'd gone to her on/off boyfriend's house to retrieve her belongings, I smelled trouble. We can't save every woman, but we can try to ensure that they don't go over to their ex's house without an escort or three.
