Good Morning Sleuthers-I spoke with one of the reporters covering the case. MC's attorney requested a continuance so they will be appearing 4/23/15 at 9AM in New Bedford Juvenile Court.

Thank you, believe09! I was so surprised after such media coverage that no one had covered her court date.

Interesting that the defense is hyper focused on the DA rather than motion to dismiss.

Ridiculousness follows this girl wherever she goes. They want this man to give up his career AFTER he properly recused himself because he knows someone in the case. No indications no evidence but the possibility he may be influencing his staff behind the scenes through some misdirected loyalty.

Imagine, no she's not being charged because she did a horrible thing - it's simply because the DA was a relative of the person who's suicide she "worked so hard" to prevent.

Once again that narcissistic personality shines through.

It's the distraction factor. Appointing a Special Prosecutor is another hoop, another series of delays and hearings...will Michelle graduate, then the question is can she go off to college...kwim?

From some of the media:

“She’s a great kid,” her attorney said. “She’s a very down-to-earth person who’s just very upset by this tragedy. She tried to seek help for this young man.”

Down to earth? That isnt how her friends describe her. They describe her as the boy who cries wolf, needy, requiring constant reassurance. In her texts, again, she states to a friend that she knows she will be going to jail and the Roy family will hate her for her participation in this crime.

I, personally, want to see some remorse. Some discussion regarding the help she needs being given to her. Psychiatric help. Conrad Roy's vulnerabilities have been splashed all over the www-please tell me Michelle's family is getting her the help that she undeniably needs.

The request for a Special Prosecutor confirms to me how strong the state's case is, fwiw. If that is the best Cataldo has to focus on right now, then I would say the state has the goods on Michelle Carter just as it appeared initially. jmvho.

PLUS that isn't even how she described herself! She specifically said if they search his phone and see my messages I'm done for - I could g to jail. In fact it was so premeditated and executed that she was running other scams at the same time, telling people he may already be dead, and then asking him why not.

They won't be trying to get her help- they will continue to deny she did anything wrong or needs help as long as she is going to trial. They might start crying poor Michelle during the penalty phase.

This reminded me, someone brought up the term "grief 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬" in another thread. I think it was the Noah Thomas case, relating to the way the Find Noah FB page was being run and all the focus on a particular admin who seemingly plunked herself into the child's memorial, gravesite and page, getting to word out about how she was suffering his loss..
A grief 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬, also called a grief leech, tragedy 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 or grief vulture is someone who latches onto someone else's loss to garner sympathy for themselves. Our dear Michelle was doing just that by telling someone he was likely dead already while trying to speed him up toward death so she could get that attention.

I could be wrong but I don't see it as a mental illness. I see it as selfishly motivated bad behavior with no regard for others. Lying even, all the while knowing her actions were wrong as evidenced by her admission that if LE sees her texts to CR she could go to jail.

Thanks B9. You did good with that. I too periodically check for updates. This case still baffles me.

I am just glad that the D.A isn't bias. I think the same charges would have been on Conner as well; If the situation was reversed.

But something is wrong with this girl. Jmo

I sympathize with the boy's family, and believe that there should be justice in this case, however the process is lengthy and at 18 isn't likely to self-isolate. So, why is the boy's family monitoring her social media? That's just self-inflicted torture.

"his family was shocked to see her carrying on with her life on social media"
