Stay tuned because hopefully the foreperson will sit for an interview.
Everything that has been reported about his demeanor is far from "meek", very far.
imo

Once again, I wish jurors had some sort of agreement that they could not discuss the trial or deliberations. I always worry it would create some sort of reason for overturning a verdict.

That being said, we are fortunate to live in a country where we have jury trials. And people are allowed to speak freely.

Is the death of John O'Keefe now a definite open investigation since KR's been acquitted?

  • #824
Does anyone else think a wrongful death lawsuit to be filed?

This is harsh. Everyone has said that the acoustics inside that courtroom are vastly different than what comes across on television, due to the way the microphones are set up for broadcast. I doubt there was a live mic placed by the jury box. So that's why it was hard to hear to hear the foreman, not that he was meek or whatever.
The way they read the verdict didn't make much sense too... the court guy seemed to read them out of order? or missed something on one of them... I would have to watch it again, but was definitely not 'smooth', no fault of the foreman. IMO

Not guilty! The jury got it right!

As for the statement by the Alberts, McCabe lot - why did they feel the need to comment? Their actions from the very start are extremely questionable

Agree, the court guy also asked in the wrong order and this confused the foreman

ahh yes! I heard the guilty before the Not guilty on #3 I think? Seems kinda fitting for this to end in a messed up way too lol

He'll yes Karen! Amen! I'm going to go dance my butt off at Native American pow wow for you baby! Right now!

I think even the verdict reading was chaotic, but at least it’s inkeeping with the rest of the trial and courtroom shenanigans during this trial.

Chaotic process, correct verdict!
Yes! At this point in time, I would be disappointed if the reading of the verdict was clearly understandable.

I am so happy about the verdict and I hope Karen can get some peace in her life now.

Overturning a verdict does happen but very, very rarely.

What we don't see from jurors and I wish we did when warranted is their complaints against their judge and how that affected them during the trial.

SImple answer from what I have read is No. If the DA thinks he arrested the right person they may just drop it.
It may take an outside force to kick some rocks and then turn it over to MSP
Or his family could approach LE to ask for the investigation to be opened up imo

Last August the O'Keefe family filed a wrongful death lawsuit against KR and the 2 bars.

'Former MA prosecutor says jury's decision' is 'devastating blow' for state

'Jeffrey Abramson, a professor of government and law emeritus at the University of Texas at Austin and former assistant district attorney in Massachusetts, called the jury's decision "a total repudiation of the prosecution's case."

"It shows the jury thought the prosecution had given them nothing. Just absolutely nothing," Abramson said. "After three years, I think it's a devastating blow to the Commonwealth's case."

Abramson said it may have been telling for the jury that Michael Proctor, the former lead Massachusetts State Police investigator on the case, was not called as a witness in the second trial.'

Important to remember that in a civil trial, after an acquittal, Karen will be forced to testify. If you recall, that is what happened with OJ Simpson. He was acquitted and then the family sued him and won. Huge award that was never paid sadly. But OJ was forced to take the stand, as the 5th Amendment no longer applies.
