Sorry to hear. Hope you feel better. I suffer from chronic pain from a failed lumbar fusion and have days I should not reply so soon after waking up.

Thank you so much Roselvr I really understand what you are going through. Sorry if I have told you before I had two botched L4/5 discectomy ops that left me disabled 9 years ago aged 22. I've had 7 ops since due the damage he caused. It's a nightmare having so much pain your brain can't function. I send my very best wishes to you I'm here if you ever need a chat. Best wishes.

Hopefully they can identify the part successfully.

I sure hope this is part of that plane and that somehow they can figure out where the rest of it is so the families of the missing can have some closure.

Don't know if there are any fans of Blindspot here, but this week's episode dealt with the discovery of an airplane in a hangar on a deserted island that was missing, presumed crashed into the ocean. All passengers were assumed to be deceased, including the team of scientists/engineers. Wonder where they came up with that idea?? ;)

If this is true does it mean the plane has started to break up? I feel the only way it will be found is if there starts being a stream of parts washing up as it disintegrates further and they can track it back somehow.

But perhaps these bits snapped off on impact? (not sure if that's viable as have forgotten what the first piece was).

Still no bloody mangosteens though eh...

I have a feeling that the parts may have snapped off upon impact or closer to the surface. Seems as though that is a heck of a deep ocean, with immense pressure at ocean-floor level, for pieces to pop up later.

This subscriber only article says that the authorities have thought for a long time that any pieces of the plane that were not on the ocean floor would follow ocean currents and eventually end up in East Africa. I think the circular current was expected to take debris toward Indonesia then toward East Africa.

I wonder if they will fly that route and see if they can spot anything else that may identify the debris with absolute certainty.

MH370: debris from same type of plane as missing Malaysia Airlines flight

This update also includes the finding of the debris.

The part is believed to measure 35 inches by 22 inches. The wreckage is a piece of horizontal stabilizer skin, the U.S. official said.

The horizontal stabilizer is the part of the aircraft's tail that is horizontal as the plane flies.

The debris includes a fastener. An official at the fastener company, LISI Aerospace, said the part in question is a pretty standard part.

"I would expect to see this on many varieties of Boeing aircraft, not particular to a 777," said Jared Young, vice president of research and development.

An aviation source said there was no record of any Boeing 777 missing other than Malaysia Airlines Flight 370, which disappeared on March 8, 2014, with 239 people on board.

Trying again. I don't know why the original link pulled in the video instead of the article so this time I took off the www. from the front of the link.

Thank you CoverMeCagney you are very kind.

I sure hope this is part of that plane and that somehow they can figure out where the rest of it is so the families of the missing can have some closure.

Unfortunately without recovering any remains many families won't get any closure many of the Chinese passengers families still believe their relatives have been kidnapped and will return. It won't matter how many broken pieces of the plane turn up they don't believe it crashed.

It is absolutely tragic that 239 families have loved ones dead in the ocean somewhere and will never get to hold a funeral or find out why they died.

Prayers Greg. I just got out today.

Hope you recover well at home Tulessa best wishes to you.

The debris will be tested by officials in Australia, with help from Malaysian authorities and representatives of manufacturer Boeing Co.

I'm glad this debris is being properly tested by the right authorities.

I really can't see the search for the plane going on much longer the governments are going to end up stopping the funding and resources.

Oh how I hope this is from MH370!
This piece is near where that other piece was found, so that gives me hope!
Anyone have a water current map that would show which direction the currents would flow to reach this area?

I can sympathize as well. I just had complications from a steroid shot in my spine yesterday. L4 L5 and L5 S1 as well for me. Awaiting spinal fusion after Bariatric surgery to lose weight.

There is a short video in this article that shows the drift pattern. They have been working on it for some time - using buoys, currents and winds to plot the pattern. This video was published in July 2015. The little white arrows all over the map are the currents.

"A UFO hunter claims to have found the missing MH370 plane in an eight-month-old Google satellite image.

Scott Waring believes an outline of a Boeing 777 can be seen beneath the water off the coast of Cape Town in South Africa.

He makes the claim almost two years since Malaysian Airlines flight MH370 disappeared killing 239 people on board."

Wow!
I would not have seen it without the circle around it.
My first thought was sure, yeah, a UFO hunter, what next?

Looking at the map in the link though, I agree that the supposed flight path seems to fall more in line with witness sightings, especially with the plane flying low.
Could a plane that size and weight actually land on the ocean and be buoyant enough to float just below the surface along with the current?

'The Cape of Good Hope is going to have powerful currents moving around it with deep crevices, and since the photo on Google is eight months old, it could have moved 30-60km away if its semi-floating only 4-9 feet under the water,' he added.
