Oh my goodness...5% think Aliens? :(
Honestly, a black box in hand with those same voices won't convince some people.
Yes, this is beyond precedent...but that is why it is so difficult.
In no way do I believe that any of these countries do not want definitive answers.
Jmo

That could be the same 5% that are out searching for Big Foot....

I cannot wait for this mystery to be solved. It is an incredible story in the world of what ifs. It is truly a who dun it. It seems to me like a story of a person or persons just going on a joy ride. Took over the cockpit and said let's go. And off they went. let's find that plane and put those persons to rest. this is just the saddest thing ever.

I hope the families know how much the world cares and are suffering with them. jmo

How long will they and physically can they keep up this intensity?

If they can't pick up the ping again, they have some big decisions to make. They are probably studying the data of the pings, upside down and inside out, to determine how legit it is. They have to decide how feasible it is to continue dragging their sorry assets through that area of the South Indian Ocean.

Update: This post can be disregarded. I have just been dying to use the phrase "dragging their sorry assets through the water" after last night and all the talk about "getting assets in the water".

“Some … have been actually transmissions from the ship that was actually searching and it got its own transmissions back again,” the Air Chief Marshal said.
“So funny things happen in that environment and you can’t assume things.”
It was not clear if he was referring to Ocean Shield or a Chinese vessel that also reported picking up hopeful traces.

Edit I think he is referring to the Chinese ship.

“As the Ocean Shield moved through the water, signal got stronger, stronger, stronger, then weaker, weaker, weaker,” Marks said. “That’s exactly how you’d expect it if it was the black box.”

Uhm...soooo...if it gets stronger, stronger, stronger, then weaker...STOP!! Turn back to stronger. Why continue to go in the weaker zone? smh Give us the darn thing and Snoods n I will show you how it is done! They obviously have never played "Hot and Cold": "You are getting warmer!!! Warmer!! Cold!" :escape:

Dang straight we would! Pfffft, amateurs! All your fears will soon abate everyone, SeriouslySearching and Snoods are on the job! But.....may I request CARIIS come along too? Ya know, just in case they ask me anything complicated.....

I am starting to feel like the pinger information is like a repeat of the satellite images.

So I guess I am expecting a two week cat and media mouse game.

Yep. Something to get everyone's hopes up, then it's good for more filler for a few weeks.

We have a very nice synchronicity happening ATM...

At the point where everything went haywire and the plane diverted from its route to Beijing, this was at 103degrees East according to the navigation waypoints (IGARI).
Want to guess where the 'Ocean Shield' is right now? She is at 103degrees East - on the same celestial longitude!!!

Click on the 'blue ship' and the co-ordinates are revealed top RH corner.

It’s like playing hot and cold when you’re searching for something and someone’s telling you you’re getting warmer and warmer and warmer,” he said. “When you’re right on top of it you get a good return.”

HA! We'll be expecting credit where credit is due; a shout out or a whut whut from Don Lemmon will be sufficient.

Breaking news: (real actual breaking news).

The pings detected match the "last handshake".

http://news.ninemsn.com.au/world/20...-final-mh370-signal?mch=mobilenh&mchpost=pos5

Black box pings 'linked' to final MH370 signal

Underwater signals recently detected in the Indian Ocean reportedly coincide with the final unexplained signal emitted by missing flight MH370.

Authorities revealed that underwater sounds detected by a ship on Saturday were consistent with aircraft black box pings, but the Telegraph reports that the site is the same point where final contact was estimated two weeks ago.

By crikey MM you're right. Would be maybe more understandable if the plane had turned south and just kept going rather than the crooked route it took.

Don't forget folks we have a Resources Thread for information that would be helpful to understand some of the technical aspects of this case. Feel free to post that information there instead of the main thread so we can easily keep track of it.

Thanks, Lambchop

Yes ... but it was a bit funny when the defence minister just turned around and walked off to end the presser ... and Angus Houston looked at him, looked at the reporters, then followed the defence minister. He was probably thinking 'what? no last question .. or last, last question .. or last, last, last question?!'

:floorlaugh:

:floorlaugh: I am so glad you posted this because I thought I missed something. I turned away for just a second and next thing I know they are walking off the stage. I didnt know what happened. :floorlaugh:

The divers are needed if any debris is ever near the surface that they can help grab it and get it on board the ship if mechanical means are having trouble. As well as to use divers to do any work needed in the actual water. Like hooking up stuff that is in the water.

But since they cannot go down to any great depths I dont think they are actually being used to try to spot the black boxes or anything.

There was a show on Mythbusters where they took an old fashioned diver helmet + diver suit (steel ones with large helmet) and was testing pressure of the water. It was very scary that if the hose broke to the old fashioned ones then the pressure could kill the person inside the old dive suits.
