Some info on perspective jurors.

Of the 15 people questioned in the jury box Tuesday, six had guns in their homes, though one of those individuals was excused by the prosecution at the end of the day. He was a father of eight who said he was not sure he would want someone of his mindset sitting on a jury judging him or a loved one accused of a crime.

The pool of 15 also includes a mother who doesn’t own a TV and says she knows nothing about this case; a man whose cousin was murdered by her mentally ill son; and a 29-year-old man who once served as a juror in a homicide case and acquitted the defendant, concluding the killing was in self-defense.

That is shocking to me.

I don’t know, just wondering. 60 years is maximum. She might get less because she didn’t legally own the gun. I don’t think the judge will give her the maximum.
Why do you think that? I did wonder why when she said it was James' responsibility that people all seemed to assume that was a fact.

James Crumbley’s trial is already starting tomorrow! Wow. I think his lawyer is better so we won’t have the histrionics from Jennifer’s trial.

Jennifer said that guns were "her husband's thing", but I don't recall having seen any video or photos of James and Ethan at the gun range. If guns "weren't her thing", why is there video of Jennifer with Ethan practice shooting with the newly gifted gun? If guns were James' thing, why didn't Dad take his son to the shooting range to practice with the new weapon? IIRC, in her open letter to former President Trump, Jennifer mentions carrying a weapon with her when she was showing homes as a realtor (link below). Jennifer tried to throw James under the bus with claims that James was responsible for the guns in the household and that guns weren't her thing, but the jury didn't buy it, and neither do I. JMO

Pontiac — A jury of nine women and six men will decide James Crumbley's fate after attorneys spent two days whittling down the panel and despite his attorney's doubts that they'd easily find an impartial jury in Oakland County.

The 15-person jury, which includes three alternates, was finalized Wednesday afternoon in Oakland Circuit Court after attorneys questioned potential jurors for hours on everything from gun ownership and mental illness to parental responsibility and impartiality. The jurors, who appear to be all White, work in a range of jobs, including IT, graphic design, a nurse practitioner, a music teacher and a foster care mom.

Opening statements will begin Thursday morning for Crumbley, 47, who is being tried on four counts of involuntary manslaughter in connection with four students his son fatally shot in November of 2021 at Oxford High School — Hana St. Juliana, 14; Madisyn Baldwin, 17; Tate Myre, 16; and Justin Shilling, 17...

James Crumbley seems to be holding up better physically than his wife. His demeanor is also less defeated/poor me. I think if he takes the stand he will be a more sympathetic witness. 90% sure he will take the stand. I may eat my words on all of this as the trial progresses. But I think just having a better lawyer will do wonders for his image in comparison to Jennifer. JMO

I agree. But in your opinion should both be found guilty?

I wish I could answer that question, but at this juncture, I'm just not sure. Aside from making the purchase of the gun with Ethan in tow, I'm not sure what other interaction there was between father and son and the gun once it was in the Crumbley home. There is video of Jennifer and Ethan at the gun range, after which she put the gun in her car, making her the last person known to have the weapon. At least, this was the determination of the jury in Jennifer's trial. At some point, the gun made its way into the Crumbley home and into Ethan's hands. It remains to be seen whether James brought the gun into the house making him the last person to have the gun prior to Ethan putting it his backpack and taking it to school. Or, perhaps, Ethan knew that his mother had left the gun in her car, and it was he who took the gun from the car into the house. When or if I learn more about what actually happened to the gun after Jennifer and Ethan went to the gun range, and she (allegedly) left the gun in her car, I can decide if I think that James is equally responsible and should be found guilty. And yet, at that family conference, had either parent mentioned buying him a gun, admin could've reacted differently....

Had he taken the time to make sure the gun was secured....

He does seem passive... but the results, no less deadly.

Of course they didn't know he already had the gun .... but once they saw that drawing, both parents should have gone on full alert.

@ABC

Before opening arguments got underway in the manslaughter trial of James Crumbley, the father of Michigan school shooter Ethan Crumbley, the judge made a ruling to exclude from evidence texts between the shooter and his mother, Jennifer Crumbley.

I have trouble reconciling being a passive guy and having the string of relationships he's had with partners and kids. I can't see this being passive. It doesn't magically just happen to you.
However, he might want to make it seem like he's a passive kind of guy.

March 7 (Reuters) - A month after a Michigan woman was convicted of manslaughter in a school shooting carried out by her son, the boy's father faced trial for the same unusual charge.

The shooting was "a nightmare that was preventable and it was foreseeable," prosecutor Marc Keast told jurors in his opening statement on Thursday in the trial of James Crumbley, 47.
