MI - Bianca Jones, 2, Detroit, 2 Dec 2011 - #4 - *D. Lane guilty*

Evidently, there have never been any CPS visits to wherever D'Andre Lane "stayed" with any of his children. His attorney made this very clear at the beginning of the case shortly after his client was arrested and charged with Bianca's murder. No CPS reports = no problems with D'Andre and his offspring  The girlfriend with whom Lane was living when he was looking after Bianca should have called the police and/or CPS immediately when she knew that he was abusing the little girl, but no one wants to mess with D'Andre. :moo:

Here is what is bothering me about this incident we heard about today. From what I gather, AL, the 8 yr old, did not initially tell her mom what happened with the underwear/mouth thing. She was living with her daddy at the time, and she told her godmother who worked at the school she attends. She told her godmother, who is actually the cousin of Shalay, that her mouth hurt. They saw the cut under her tongue, and then she told her godmother, at the school, what had happened. She told them her daddy asked if she had wet herself, she said she did not know, and he shoved her wet panties into her mouth.

What did the godmother do? She called Shalay, the girls mother, and as far as I can tell, that was it.

When I worked at a school, we had a LAW saying that we had to, legally were REQUIRED to, report to the authorities any abuse we became aware of.

You do not just call the parent and tell them. You call LE orCPS and file a report.

But since the school did nothing but call Shalay, it ended right there. Shalay
was told the story on the phone by her 8 yr old daughter, calling from school, telling her about the cut mouth from the urine stained panties stuffed into her mouth by her daddy. But Shalay did nothing about it. She called daddy, listened to his lame explanation, and left it at that. {" I just made her smell them, ..I don't now how she hurt her mouth though..."]

This happened in August and she left her daughter in his care. And she took her back in Dec the day Bianca was 'kidnapped' but she still stuck by 'her man.'

How does this little girl feel knowing her mom had no problem with her dad stuffing wet panties down her throat?

See,. this is where I think the 'no prior CPS' is questionable, because there are mandatory reporters involved here who clearly did not report.

The drug and weapons? Drugs for sure that I recall, and I seem to recall an incident were there was drugs, weapons and cash. This is the kind of stuff that is dangerous around kids and leads to charges such as reckless endangerment.

Where most of us see red flags, DL has this harem of females that apparently all play one big happy family.

We've seen the teenage nephew with the shaved eyebrow. I don't think any of us are unaware of what that shaved eyebrow signifies. Now we have a little 8 yr old who is clearly being taught by those around her what happened to her and her baby sister Bianca does not matter. :furious: Smile and cover for a man who abuses..... At best these children are going to need years of counseling. This is not healthy behavior.

Rant off.....

I guess the one good thing that happened in court today was that the jury clearly heard the story about the urine soaked panties. Wouldn't they think that any 'father' that could stuff urine soaked panties into his child's mouth, so far in that her tongue rips a bit underneath.... Don't they have to see how cruel and sick and twisted that is?

and the cycle will probably continue into the next generation (s), where women remain submissive to the men. :(

I hope not. I hope these children grow up with the determination the buck stops with them, no more passing this on from one generation to the next. DL is being charged with a 3rd or 4th (I don't recall which) habitual offender classification. Habitual offender. This is not new behavior something he kept well hidden. At some point the attitude should become a bad parent is not better than no parent. Anyone can paint a rosy picture or draw you a dream. Best to look and see past that dream if one has the skills, tools and knowledge to make them happen, or if they are making efforts for those achievements, not just making excuse after excuse regarding the 'obstacles' in their lives.

Rant off for real this time.

The Tigers clinched the AL Central Division tonight! I've been following but said nothing because team who shall not be named fans waiting more thana century tend to jinx when we root for a team. So I'm not really rooting, just following and am glad they did it, imo, for Bianca this year!

I'm just happy tonight and hoping the prosecution can clinch this October too with a guilty verdict for Bianca's presumed murder! :please:

I'm hoping it's a good thing...If the jury gets the idea that the family members testimony has been manipulated and tampered with they might be more wary of all the people the defense will no doubt bring in to say how swell DL is.

I hope that the jury will also remember that the Judge did not take the urine-soaked panties incident lightly and even admonished the mother for not being more concerned about it. Hopefully, seeing the Judge play an active role in the questioning of the witness will convince the jury that DL is not the great guy that his attorney or his bevy of women make him out to be: The habitual offender is, indeed, cruel, sick, and twisted :moo:

Lane was arrested in December shortly after Bianca’s disappearance for violating conditions of a personal protection order. Oakland County Circuit Court Judge Cheryl Matthews ordered Lane to take an anger management course after he violated the PPO that prohibited him from contacting his ex-wife, Rakiba Mitchell. He was later released.
When Matthews learned Monday that he had failed to attend the course, she ordered him jailed again. He is currently serving 14 days in the Oakland County jail. Lane is scheduled for release on March 23, Oakland County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Wesley Beltz said.

Bumping for a reminder. I'm going to assume the above info is too prejudicial and the jury won't learn about this.

Good morning everyone -- yesterday's testimony was indeed heart breaking. I hope BDEyes is right and the active questioning by the judge makes this a-hole's real character 'shine' through. Getting a black screen.

OT: Cubby, thank you for acknowledging the Detroit Tigers on their Division championship. I hope they go all the way this season: A World Series win might be just the thing to lift the spirits in of Motown. I will be bummed if there's no NHL season :( Now that it's kind of chilly in the morning, I've been donning my Red Wings jacket to lift my spirits :D

Bianca Jones case resumes today with forensic canine experts expected to testify

By Christine Ferretti
The Detroit News

Detroit — Testimony continues Wednesday in the felony murder trial of a Detroit father accused in the December disappearance of his toddler daughter.

D'Andre Lane is on trial in Wayne County Circuit Court on allegations he fatally abused Bianca Jones over a bed-wetting incident on Dec. 2, disposed of her body and fabricated a carjacking. The child's body has not been recovered.

Defense contends prosecution has no evidence that proves Lane abused or murdered the child.

So the feeds are not daily? How strange

WDIV (www.clickondetroit.com) is my go-to media source, and they tend to livestream high-profile cases or other breaking news on any given day and sometimes more than one story on the same day. The station also livestreams most of their daily newscasts at noon, 4:00, 5:00, 6:00 and 11:00. Today they showed the arraignment of a man who was charged with assaulting a pregnant woman. I hadn't even heard about the incident but received an email alert about the hearing.

With everything that's going on in and around Motown these days, I don't think that the D'Andre Lane case is a priority. :moo:

Too short of an article for snippets.

Did anyone see the testimony? I don't know if they mean the clothes DL was wearing two days after the alleged car jacking or police had the clothes he claims to have worn the day of the alleged car jacking.

I wouldn't expect DL's clothes to be carrying decomp scent two days later. He would have showered and laundered his clothes.....

I don't know happened in court recently. I wish I did.

But I have to expect that the defense is going to have an impossible time trying to sell that carjacking/kidnapping baloney. It is impossible to believe and it makes no sense with the timeline.

Defense targets cadaver dog evidence in missing child case

By Christine Ferretti
The Detroit News

Detroit — Defense attorneys attempted Wednesday to minimize key evidence from a cadaver-detecting dog in the circumstantial murder trial of a Detroit man accused in the death of his missing toddler.

D'Andre Lane is charged with felony murder and child abuse on allegations he fatally beat 2-year-old Bianca Jones because she wet herself, disposed of her body and fabricated a carjacking to cover up the crime. The child's body has not been found.

Lane is facing mandatory life if convicted in the case that relies on circumstantial evidence, including a cadaver dog named Morse, who is handled by forensic canine expert Martin Grime.

Defense attorney Terry L. Johnson pointed out during testimony Wednesday in Wayne Circuit Court that the dog's positive detection of human decomposition in this case — signified with repeated barking — is unsubstantiated because it hasn't been linked to a corpse...
