MI - Wayne State Uni officer Collin Rose, 29, fatally shot, Detroit, 22 Nov 2016

Also, I believe when Collins called for backup, he told somebody he had or was stopping a person on a bike. May have given more info beyond that, IDK.

^ Couple of things without rereading all media reports. Bicycle belonging to suspect was found at the scene (identified as his by other people at the homeless shelter where he was staying). The suspect has had numerous run-ins with campus and local police (Detroit) in the past. Was seen in the area of the shooting.

Not exactly sure, but I think I recall some info about the "homeless" shelter not being related to shooting.

Good news. Hope it sticks.
If so, he won't be able to murder another policeman or anyone else whilst out roaming around.

Not sure what you mean by this  The suspect in custody had been staying at a homeless shelter near the Wayne State University campus. That doesn't mean that the 'homeless shelter' itself is related - or not - to the shooting.

The only thing that might be significant about the homeless shelter is that the suspect was not living with his mother who claimed her son could not have committed this crime. Suspect has allegedly been living in homeless shelter(s) and not with his mother. I doubt she really knew much about her 31-year-old son's activities. :moo:

St. Joan of Arc prepares for second officer funeral

Stephanie Steinberg , The Detroit News 12:04 a.m. EST December 1, 2016

The service for Wayne State police officer Collin Rose will take place at the St. Clair Shores church Thursday

St. Clair Shores — Monsignor Michael Bugarin of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church is sadly familiar with the funeral protocol for fallen police officers.

His church in St. Clair Shores officiated the funeral for Detroit police Sgt. Kenneth Steil, who was killed in the line of duty in September, and will be doing so again for Wayne State University Officer Collin Rose, who was shot in the head Nov. 22 during a traffic stop near Lincoln and Brainard. Rose died a day later at Detroit Receiving Hospital.

Rose, 29, wasn’t a member of St. Joan of Arc, but he and his fiancee were Catholic and lived on the outskirts of the parish. Bugarin was the pastor who responded to comfort Rose’s family after his surgery that Tuesday night before Thanksgiving...

Sources: Charges to be dropped in WSU cop killing

George Hunter , The Detroit News 10:08 p.m. EST December 6, 2016

Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy is expected Wednesday to announce her office will drop charges against the man accused of killing Wayne State Police Officer Collin Rose, according to police sources.

DeAngelo Davis, 31, was charged last month with first-degree murder in connection with the Nov. 22 fatal shooting, but sources with knowledge of the investigation told The Detroit News there isn’t enough evidence to pursue the case against him.

Police are now looking at evidence suggesting another man was possibly the real killer, the sources told The News on Tuesday night...

This really stinks! From previous articles, I thought they had plenty of evidence to hold him on murder charges!

well, if it wasn't him, they will work on finding who it was now. Or looking at facts and building a case. Don't want someone who is innocent to be persecuted and defamed.

New pictures released in WSU cop killing; reward raised

Oralandar Brand-Williams , The Detroit News 8:51 p.m. EST December 9, 2016

A picture of a pair of black gloves, a yellow flashlight and the blue bicycle allegedly belonging to the killer of a Wayne State University police officer were released Friday and the reward more than doubled in hopes of generating tips leading to an arrest.

The reward fund in the killing of Collin Rose grew to $32,500. The fund had $15,000 in it before the donations Friday. DTE’s Chief Security Officer Michael Lynch announced the utility company was matching the original $15,000 reward. And, Crime Stoppers of Michigan was adding $2,500.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms had given $10,000 and the Detroit Dog Rescue, where Rose’s fiance is a staff member, had given $5,000...

Thank you for posting this: I live in the metro Detroit area and have been heartbroken since this wonderful officer was murdered.

I just read the article and this shooter does not appear to be related to shooting officer Collins.

Nope, Link updated to correct that this guy DID NOT confess to Sgt. Rose's murder. But they are testing the gun. He may be the guy but just wanted to let you know the link was updated after your post, as so often happens.

Thanks for posting the update.
