Good thing I copied many of JTF and gojo's posts before they went 'poof".
If MF immediately stated the drawers were missing as Kim says, JY took them to make it look like a theft. LE knew better than to advance the guise of a burglary / murder. Poor Meredith apparently fell for his trick early on, to the delight of JTF and Jake.

"When LE questions friends they ask for jewelry descriptions and about MY's jewelry. Several family members and friends have been to the home and from all reports I have heard, there is no valuable jewelry left in the house. MF talked about jewelry box drawers missing from day one. So, given LE asking about jewelry and none seemingly found in the house, I guess we're all assuming it was all stolen. If LE had it and was holding it, I don't think they'd be asking for descriptions."....JTF

I recognize that quote. Interesting timing on the poofing of those posts. They were there on Friday, April 13. I linked that one then.

Since we are down to playing with the red herrings, I thought I would bring back this list. Perhaps we can then refocus on the murder of this beautiful young woman and her baby:

1. Husband leaves night before murder for a business trip.
2. Husband is last person to speak with wife at 11 pm, supposedly.
3. Last person(s) known to see victim was a friend - female.
4. Wife is 4 months pregnant, therefore statistically at risk.
5. Husband phones SIL the next day asking to retrieve a document from his home.
6. SIL finds her murdered sister on the floor of the bedroom.
7. 2.5 year old child left alive and unharmed.
8. Dog in house.
9. Neighbors unaware of anything unusual except outside lights being on
a couple of days prior to the murder.
10. Husband on way to parents home when body is found.
11. Reported child in the neighborhood with supposed behavioral issues.
12. Wife previously lost a baby shortly after an auto accident.
13. Wife works flex time and may or may not have been expected at work.
14. Husband's vehicle is immediately impounded upon return to SILs house.
15. Husband retains lawyer at some point - refers LE to lawyer the evening he returns to Raleigh - less than 12 hours after his wife is found bludgeoned to death.
16. Sheriff's spokeswoman indicates the crime is not random.
17. LE indicates no "forced entry" at the crime scene.
18. Sheriff reports neighborhood is quiet with very few problems.
19. Police asked for information about events between 12 and 6 am.
20. Police investigate previous auto accident involving couple - May 2006.
21. Police have made no further appeals to the public for assistance.
22. Sheriff indicates in interview with Greta, no warrants obtained for collection of fingerprints of several people.
23. Husband complies with Non-testimonial order and gives samples requested in presence of his lawyer.
24. No external tip line established (police tip line exists).
25. No reward for information posted by sheriff or families.
26. Husband is reported to have been having a relationship with wife's sorority sister located in Florida.
27. Michelle's therapist is interviewed in camera by a Superior Court judge and required to turn over her notes about the therapy sessions to the DA as the information is deemed to be relevant to the investigation.

Of course the list is much longer...now

Quite a thoughtful list you have compiled. I notice you didn't mention the California trip with A and B sources. Police officers probably have a similar list, which is why originally they have concentrated so much attention on Jason.

I saw no red herrings in your list.

Looking at your list, I think the only item that ties all these seemingly innocuous events together is Michelle's murder. If not for the murder, Jason's actions that night and the next day would not raise eyebrows.

He was a salesman who traveled. I think he did not arrange those events to cover the killing of his wife. It just seems that way after the fact.

What? Did I spell it wrong? Sorry if I did.
Or are you saying that's not the type of jewelry that is supposedly missing? That's how some has described it.

Naw, I am just curious how it came to be called "heirloom" jewelry. I just used your spelling....I hope we got it right.

i think that he might have made some new friends while he was there or hooked up with some old friends.

maybe he wanted to bring more of his posse with him but the flight was overbooked.

imo

Maybe next time he'll leave his mother and sister at home. What a dork! Taking his mother and sister along on a wild trip to California.

That's it? That's all there is to this jewelry mystery?
They saw drawers missing, say 'Hey Jason, did she have jewelry in 2 drawers..." and he says, "yes." If that's all there is to this story, then if it were my family, I'd drop it for now.

Actually, they have. The family is making no claims.

how do we know that?

hold your horses, jake.
i said "animosity" in terms of coming from the young family (especially stepdad) toward LE.

i did not use that term when speaking of jay's lawyer.

imo

I understand. In my clumsy way I was trying to point out that animosity from the family didn't matter. It was the lawyer who told Jason to keep quiet, not his family.

Gojo told us about the college bud and his wife on the way in Friday evening for the big game. A cookout was planned. Even If Michelle was not murdered, this last minute trip to see his mother Friday night would would have raised eyebrows....It would NOT happen
===================================================

" That's almost exactly the plan Jason had. He had two college friends in town for the State game. A cookout was planned.

Jason and Michelle took State football seriously. In fact, you can check and see that his church wedding was on a Friday....because State was playing football on Saturday! I remember fussing about it some because it was inconvenient for out-out-town guests."...gojo

then give it a rest, jake. stop talking about the "stolen" or "missing" jewelry.

jake, jake.
what do you think you've just been doing for the last 3 pages?

that jewelry is not missing. it's not stolen. LE knows where it is currently located.

imo

That's news to me. I'll tell the Youngs.

from my understanding of your posts, you think it is rude to even ask jay if he killed michelle. is jay talking to his family?

i was under impression that he wasn't and that's why everyone is about crack to up.

the silence is deafening and must be eating away at their insides.

You are correct there are no red herrings in that list, nor is there a report of missing jewelry. The vacation, I know, is a sore spot for you because you believe LE should have written a full novel about that vacation in the SW. But you never did answer me about your statement of that trip having been long planned and planned around 4 people's schedules - how come that planning did not compensate for Michelle's schedule if it had indeed been planned for a long time? Common sense indicates it should have been.

Jake, do you know why jtf's posts were removed over yonder? Interesting timing.

No, I don't. I thought they disappeared when jtf was banned in January. Although I did see some once when I somehow went through a back door while researching something else.

No, they were still there last Friday. I wonder if my discussion here of their deletion will result in my banning over there.

Interesting!

Maybe, maybe not.

Jason's step-father May very well have played the odds. To keep Jason alive.

Question is, did he factor in your running commentary?

Don't get your back up, it's just a question. Why can't Jason say anything, yet you can't stop talking?

Serious question.

Obviously I have an interest in this case. I have trouble lurking without posting. The police aren't interested in me. Jason's lawyer hasn't told me to keep quiet....yet.

Maybe because there was quite a bit of talk about the jewelry on the ctv board about that time? I don't know either. Interesting.

Has he told you to check out the message boards to see what everyone is saying? Are you reporting back to Jason and his lawyer?
