If your perspective were correct, wouldn’t the most rational move be for Ross to simply get out of the way?
Of course, IMO. However, when I view the videos it seems to me that his standing still would have been perfectly safe, too.

He was never the one in danger. The victim was in more danger than she knew or could reasonably have known until the shooting began.

The most irrational move would be to incapacitate the driver so the vehicle is completely out of control.

<modsnip> She was murdered, Im sorry but that’s just a fact. You can think it was justified but she was still shot to death by officer Ross. Sure, if Renee Good didn’t decide to go protest that day, she would still be alive. But it is her right to protest as an American citizen. MOO
Yes! I agree!

I completely agree with you. I’m just trying to understand the “logic” of those insisting Good was in the wrong.

Yes. This has been discussed at length with links up thread to ICE policy on this matter.

This administration and it’s non experienced in anything pertaining to the real America has zero thoughts beyond how to be ‘powerful bullies’ and believe they are praised and admired by all,
You’re absolutely right.

IDK. My only thought is they haven't really watched videos or listened to witnesses. People who didn't know any of the facts exonerated the shooter prematurely, IMO, and I think some people trust the exonerating people so much they feel they don't even have to look at the videos.

Sorry if my reply was confusing. Without reactions, it is confusing because you have to reply to support.

The only kind of logic in play is fuzzy logic for those people.

The irony is not lost on me.

As our government, or this administration, expresses full support of Iranian protesters who are actively engaging in violence and destroying government buildings they are calling a US citizen a radicalized professional agitator whose murder is justified by masked federal immigration agents for having the unmitigated gall to block a portion of the street and attempt being unlawfully yanked from her vehicle.

There is no logic that is supported by the evidence. It comes down to a belief that ice (ie the government) is justified in suppressing dissent. There was no other reason for agents who had already driven past her to stop and go back to confront her other than suppressing dissent.

I would...unless I had prior inclination and/or intent to kill someone...because I was blinded by anger. JMO

This 100%. That’s why we are just talking in circles at this point. There are people who believe ICE and the government have the right to detain people for exercising their right to protest, which is protected under the constitition (AKA don’t tread on me). Unfortunately I don’t think they will ever change their minds so this is why we are at an impasse. IMO.

The agent is standing in front of the vehicle when he unholsters his firearm, but only after the driver shifts into drive and initiates forward movement. The entire sequence occurs within a split second. imo

When you watch the video the agent filmed you can see he is standing still and not "walking in front of her vehicle" when she turns the wheel and points the car directly at him before he tries to step over to get out of the way and she accelerates and hits him In a split second indeed while her wife shouts "drive baby drive".

Is this a new video? That scenario didn't occur in anything I've so far seen.

The video the agent shot with his phone. Watch his position and the position of the car. The car is moving. He is not. He is standing toward the passengers side. When the car turns to point at him he takes a couple steps to the driver's side to get out of the way and she accelerates.

The video does not show her hitting him.

🎯 Thanks for highlighting this point. The day after Renee's murder, the exact same line "weaponized vehicle, self defense" was used by ICE agents who shot two people, and left them there to die, took off did not render aid or call for help. I'm under the same impression, that these are instructions and/or policies given to them. Can't be a coincidence.

Very scripted: “When agents identified themselves to the vehicle occupants, the driver weaponized his vehicle and attempted to run over the law enforcement agents,” DHS wrote in a statement on X. “Fearing for his life and safety, an agent fired a defensive shot. The driver drove off with the passenger, fleeing the scene.”

JMO Portland mayor calls for ICE to ‘halt all operations’ after two people shot & injured
That’s a story people - even the Portland Police chief - picked up and ran with, and now they’re having to walk it back. imo

I thought there was a thread for that… Hmph! imo

Police Chief Bob Day said the two suspects wounded in a U.S. Customs and Border Protection encounter had a “nexus” to the gang, backing up a Department of Homeland Security statement released earlier in the day.

I wonder which part made him cry. imo

they were trying to!!! Did you see the wife outside the vehicle taunting them?
An officer who reacts to taunting by shooting the spouse of the person who taunted them is an unhinged man who should not be in active service.

No. Please stop telling me that this is in the video. It is not.

It simply is not. I have watched it. There is no reason to think the shooter was in danger from the victims car.

In addition, as has already been discussed ad nauseam, if it were true it would mean that he should get out of the path and should not shoot the driver. A dead driver does not change course.
