Well obviously it was of no real concern to the parties involved at the time. No complaints were filed. That to me SCREAMS it's a steaming load.

Yes, incidents about which complaints were filed prior to the shooting are complaints that I would pay attention to. Complaints that people have ginned up after the shooting are ..... well .... less than credible.

My parents taught me to stay in the car, have my hands on the steering wheel when the officer approached and be prepared to hand them my license, proof of ins and registration.

It would never occur to me to get out of my car unless requested by an officer.

My parents taught me to roll down my window just enough to hand my license and insurance to the officer and kindly inform him I have nothing else to tell him. Sometimes that doesn't go over too smooth.

Haha...doesn't seem like great advice.

My dad was a defense attorney, and he didn't trust cops that much. Although he had a few good friends who were LE. He always told us to keep our hands on the steering wheel, and to NEVER say he was our dad. LOL

eta: and they did ask sometimes cuz we had a unusual last name. My dad made mincemeat out of many of them during cross, so he said act like you don't know me. lol

Why was his shoulder in front of the mirror of the SUV, in the middle of the road? It is illegal to block traffic, disturb the peace, etc.

Besides ^issue^ of ped's obstructing traffic, another point.
Not sure how tall Mustafa is or how high the mirror is.
Would man standing in path of car's mirror be struck in arm at point where his bruise is?
IOW, is bruise suspiciously high on his arm?

I don't believe I missed the point -- it's an opinion that I do not subscribe to. Until "countless others" or MB supporters or whatever one calls those who make this tragedy a "race thing" stop making things about race, we will always be a divided society.

I believe I fully realize the dynamics at play with this incident as I have lived in this area on & off for many yrs (went to Grad School here); it's been made into yet another "racist" thing (and political). However, to me it's more about RESPECT for oneself & authority (or lack there of). I will never change my mind.

Want to talk racism -- try being a Native American :) as we have discussed ad nauseam, it's an individual choice how to perceive things even if raised in a family/community that ingrained cr@p into you. Life is 10% what happens to you & 90% how you react to it.

I respect LEOs, fightighters, EMTs & anyone who is paid diddly-squat to help keep up safe & protected. I support ODWs right to Due Process which is ensured by the Constitution. But I respect everyone's opinion :) some opinions I just cannot understand, but I sure do respect them.

Amen. And the Cards are kicking the Cubs azz.

Nope, just saying that making an irate father who got out of his car, go sit in the patrol car, is not 'a bad act.' It is common sense and probably police protocol.

Officers aren't the only ones who'd behave better if body cams were worn by all of them.

I attended one of tonight's #ferguson #townhall meetings as a resident. I came away feeling it was constructive, but still long way to go.

DOJ facilitator asked for media to identify themselves. I did so, explained I was Ferguson resident employed at @stltoday, not a reporter.

One ground rule was no recording. One man insisted on recording. Facilitator threatened to walk out. Crowd shouted at man, and he left.

Beyond that, no yelling or screaming except occasional "Louder!" or "We can't hear you." Very different from last city council meeting.

Residents shared stories of problems with tickets, warrants, police; some said #michaelbrown shooting had opened their eyes to injustices.

Some said they welcomed protests that were peaceful and respectful, but felt recent actions at farmers market, etc had crossed line.

Many asked what #ferguson police would do to protect residents and businesses from civil unrest or protests that get out of hand.

One speaker said that civil unrest was the voice of the unheard.

Many #ferguson residents talked of love for community and desire to unite, move forward. Tired of way media has portrayed the community.

One thing that stuck with me: resident said she believed #Ferguson had been chosen for "just such a time as this." (ref. to Esther 4:14)

Council member picked up on this idea later, "There's going to be a new normal. I don't know what it will look like ...." (1/2)

".... but I believe there was a reason Ferguson was chosen."

Another councilman said of court reforms, that people would see other communities follow, because #ferguson would do it right.

#Ferguson town hall meeting seen thru doorway as DOJ bars media, calling it mediation.

Okay folks we probably need to get back on topic for tonight and give it a rest.

May I please request that all of us in future quietly come and go as we please without dramatic exits, especially very temporary ones?

Right here, I'm turned off - he was not JAYWALKING! Jaywalking... crossing the road to the other side. Belligerently walking down the center of a road and for awhile with traffic is not jaywalking.

Good lord.

I can't see it, but as I said yesterday, the camera movements clearly looked to me like he intentionally moved it down and towards the car, just *before* he started going all "Really? REALLY??" ZOMG attempted vehicular homicide! "

I am convinced that he framed that poor driver.

One councilman said he was defense attorney, and knows what residents mean when they describe racial profiling. (1/2)

Josh Renaud ‏@Kirkman 3m
Says he supports all proposed court reforms on the agenda for tomorrow night's #ferguson city council meeting. (2/2)

Near end, one resident urged council to keep conversation going, and thanked them for their work in thankless jobs.

As a resident, I liked tenor of meeting, glad people felt free to speak honestly, openly. As journalist, wish reporters had been allowed in.

You haven't heard anything that CMac has said that might explain why no report is EVER filed?

Nice. #Ferguson RT @search4swag: Oh s**t. Black on black crime is now the floor. Subsided housing and extortion came up. Are you kidding.

Police: Woman ran strip club, brothel in Ferguson home
http://www.ksdk.com/story/news/loca...immons-ferguson-prostitution-brothel/9091827/

The charge stems from an investigation between May 2011 and April 2014, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office for Eastern District of Missouri.

In March, St. Louis County Police Department received a tip that a home in the 400 block of Warfield Drive in Ferguson hosted nightly parties featuring the sale of alcohol and drugs, nude women dancing and private access for oral sex, private dances as well as sex, according to the documents.

this was from this Spring (happened near an elementary school); there is a reason property values have plummeted in Ferguson & white cops shooting/killing black men is not it. I'm glad the residents of Ferguson had a forum to speak without having those with other interests screaming into a mike

I'm with you. It's one of the reasons I posted it. What position would one be in for that to occur? Plus, please don't whine if you block traffic then get hit by a car. Although they do give awards for those kinda things - Darwin awards!

I'm no investigator and didn't say I have proof. If there are allegations, though, it's on them to look into it though right? You have no idea if there is proof of bad acts if you never look. Or are you suggesting they shouldn't even look? It may very well turn out there is nothing to it. I have no idea. But it does seem somewhat disturbing to suggest that LE shouldn't follow up on them.

It was broadcast on a show. I imagine it has been looked into by now.

  • #238
The fact remains. There are ZERO documented bad acts. ZERO!

I'm assuming you mean in the form of complaints filed against OW? And I don't even know...are those accessible to the public?

Of course LE should follow up IF there are complaints of police harassment filed by a citizen. But OW didn't have any complaints.

That's funny. But you're dad should have been hosting Christmas parties or something for them. After all, if they didn't arrest anyone, he wouldn't have had a job. Or at least a job doing criminal defense work. lol
