Men and teenage boys are able to control themselves if they want to do so. They are not animals unable to control their urges. Kids will sneak out and hang out. It doesn't mean they are asking to be raped. Nor do they deserve to be. There is an age for consent but no one who is drunk can legally consent.There is something wrong with someone who wants to rape an unconscious person. Because it really is rape. Exactly. Even if she was an adult, being drunk would have meant she couldn't consent. Nothing ever warrants rape and it's just not that difficult to respect others and not rape them.

IMO, the question of reporting under whatever circumstances can only be answered by the victim.

If I walk down the street in a mini skirt, I AM innocent. If I walk down the street naked, I'm guilty of indecent exposure, for which the penalty is a prison sentence not a rape. And I don't think there's anything particularly feminist about thinking rape is never excusable regardless of what the woman is wearing. If it were, why do we never hear of rape in nudist colonies or on nude beaches?

Why is it only ever rape that produces this blame the victim reaction anyway? If I carelessly leave my purse lying around and it gets robbed, would anybody feel the need to make excuses for the thief? I doubt it somehow.

Have you even read the facts of this case? When her friend and another boy went into the bedroom she was babbling like a baby and had to be carried out to the car. This other boy, btw, confessed.

No one, no matter what they do, deserve to be raped, ever!

Good grief people! We just had to remove scores of posts for a number of TOS infractions. Please be careful what you post.

1. No personal attacks.

3. Websleuths is a victim friendly site. This young girl is a victim and the young boy is an 'alleged' perp.
4. It doesn't matter what she wore, when she wore it, who's house or room the alleged incident happened, she's still considered a victim.

It's not really 'alleged' that there was sexual activity as even the young man said it DID HAPPEN. He just says it was consentual, she said it wasn't. She had a .13 alcohol level at the hospital, several hours later. So it's safe to say she was legally drunk, albeit underage as well. Someone mentioned if the sexual activity was while she was drunk or passed out, she was beyond 'giving permission,' therefore it's rape.

5. She was 14, he was 17.
6. The second victim was raped by another perp, that case has already been settled in juvenile court. case closed.

It would not matter what behavior this girl had or exhibited. Or that she drank alcohol. These things don't "just happen". Some one decides to take advantage of someone under aged who is not legally able to make an informed decision based on the fact that she was drunk. The guys are responsible for their behavior. They did the crime. She didn't drink after the rape. She was left in front of her mother's house in the cold to die. She was unconscious. I'm surprised she didn't die from alcohol poisoning or hypothermia. NO ONE HAS THE RIGHT TO FORCE SEXUAL BEHAVIOR. A woman (if able to consent legally) can say no anytime. No wonder so many won't call LE for rape. JMO
