All I can say is, thank God they did not kill that little girl. It would have been too easy for them to have done so. I just don't understand why they would abduct her and sexually assault her when they knew they were about to kill themselves/be apprehended. Why do such a thing unless you are just pure, unadulterated evil? My mind cannot even comprehend all the sick things these people have done.

I hope the woman who lied to the police about their whereabouts - is charged with additional crimes. If she hadn't lied and had told police they were in her apt. a five year old child would not have been kidnapped and sexually assaulted.

Nationwide Manhunt Ends in Car Crash

Amazing police work by Sheriff's Deputies in Barton County, Mo. foiled the cowardly suicide attempt of the nation's most wanted couple and recovered yet another innocent victim. Richard Davis and Dena Riley were arrested May 25 in Lamar after kidnapping a 5-year-old girl.

</FONT>Police say the fugitives visited one of Davis' relatives in Pittsburg, Kan. on Thursday morning and made plans to get a bite to eat with the relative and her 5-year-old daughter. After arriving at the restaurant, the relative reportedly got out of the vehicle and Davis and Riley sped off with the young girl.

Within hours, the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children issued a wanted flyer through their Locator Program, notifying law enforcement agencies in five surrounding states that the young girl had been kidnapped. Police say that Davis and Riley tried to commit suicide by overdosing on pills. Contrary to earlier reports, police say Davis and Riley did not call the Barton County Sheriff's Department to surrender. They reportedly called the Sheriff's Department to request that the young girl be returned to her parents when she was found. "Davis and Riley planned to be dead when police found the girl," police told AMW. "They did not give their location to Barton sheriff's deputies."

According to police, Davis and Riley wrecked their vehicle either during or after their call with sheriff's deputies. The accident appears to be the result of the pills taken by Davis and Riley during their suicide attempt. "They were in no condition to drive," said an Independence Police sergeant.

It was already stated in the link on post #36 by Sewing Deb that the woman was charged.
Here is what was on that link;
The Missouri State Highway Patrol interviewed a woman at the complex, Susan Summers, about the couple's disappearance on Sunday. Police later learned the couple had been hiding in the back room of Summers' apartment at the Perryville complex and escaped after officers left. Summers has been charged with two counts of hindering prosecution.

I assumed that cbcrime meant that the woman should also be responsible for the crimes that were committed against that child since the couple would have been arrested then and there had she not lied to LE, and therefore would not have had the chance to abduct and assault the child.

Hi JerseyGirl,
How are you? They cannot charge the woman for what happened after the fact of hindering. The charges commited against the child are on the couple.Unless the woman knew about the child. But from what I read, the child was taken after the couple left Summer's house. The child was not in the Summer's home when the couple were hiding out.The child was taken on thursday. The news report stated that the child is the child of a relative and that they went to a restaurant to eat. When they left the relative got out of the car and the child was in the car when they sped off.

I understand the legalitites of it, dark shadows. For me, it's more of a wishful thinking type of thing. That because of the despicable decision of that woman, this child had to suffer, and for that there should be some way of holding her at least partially responsible for the crimes that happened after that time when LE could have arrested the couple at her home. Not that it can happen, just that it should. I'm not explaining myself well but I hope you understand what I'm saying.

BTW, Court TV did a show once on this man that killed a cop (maybe even more than one - it's been a while since I've seen it). When they questioned his girlfriend (wife?), she didn't tell them what she knew about an alias he was using. Because of that, she was charged, tried, and convicted as an accomplice to murder. I wish I could remember more of the details but it's a similar thing in my mind.

Hey JerseyGirl,:)
I do understand what you are saying.Summer's could have prevented many things. What loyalty did she have to the sick couple.Did she partake in activities with this couple? Why else would she feel the need to keep her mouth shut.Any human with a heart would have turned these people in without a thought.I am sure that when things come out,you will find Summer's involved in more than hindering.Maybe she thinks that if she is "loyal and not a rat" Nothing will come out.I say that there is more to this person. For now,all we can do is hope that the hindering charge is upgraded.
We will see soon her motive of protection......

I too agree with Jersey Girl...I think this woman SHOULD be held somewhat responsible for the actions that happened after the fact. If she woulda told the truth this little girl would not have been victimized. But, as with you Jersey, I guess it's just wishful thinkin'.

Well, hopefully dark shadows is right, and that woman is involved on a deeper level because in that case, the charges will eventually be upgraded. Then she'll get what's coming to her for her part in that poor child's victimization.

What an incredibly sick and bizarre situation.

Hey JerseyGirl,
I really appreciate the post and like you,I hope that Summer's get what is coming to her.You are so right when you say that she needs to be held responsible for what happened after the couple left her home.Unfortunatly in the eyes of the law, there are only so many things that she can be charged with.(A defence lawyer will probably get her off the hindering charge if she claims that she "feared for her life" ).

More bad news about them

Sources told FOX News that additional victims of the hunted couple are likely but that the bodies have not been found. Some of the female victims also are believed to have been videotaped. The prosecuting attorney said during a press conference Thursday that additional charges are "likely"

I wonder exactly how many more. Another moster who should have never been let out of prison!!!

He is on parole for spending nearly 18 years in prison on rape and sodomy charges. :banghead: :furious: WHY WAS HE LET OUT?!?!?! When will the parole boards and judges finally figure out that these animals can NOT be rehabilitated??? And because he was let out, there is now one confirmed death, possibly more and a 5 year old child who's had her life ruined. Can someone tell me what good he is to society?!:banghead: :banghead: :furious:

I can't think of one good thing about him. I do wish they would learn to keep them in prison when they have them!

What is it with the name "Richard Davis"? Wasn't the animal who murdered Polly Klaas also named "Richard (Allen) Davis"? He was also a repeat offender who never should have been out of prison. :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

They said he had been out of prison about two years. Now that is a long time when you have a sadistic predator like him on the streets. They need to retrace every place he has been since he got out. I dont think this is the first time they have done this.....just the first time they got caught. I am fearful many other women are dead.

I find it odd too that he just gets out and finds someone that is just as perverted as he is to be his partner in crime.
I wonder how long his has known this 🤬🤬🤬? They said she was just as violent as he was on the snuff tape.

IMO

How did they finance this horrendous crime spree ? The family members of both of these brutal killers should be able to help LE trace the past 2 years .
SICK SICK SICK ! I'm sure , too there are more victims .

With them when they were arrested was a 5-year-old girl who had been taken from a town near Pittsburg, Kan. She was believed to be hospitalized Saturday in Kansas City with serious injuries but a hospital spokesman would not say whether she was there.

Sounds pretty bad for the little girl...
