Nancy Grace has twins early

I love Lucy's name! I pray they all do well.

I hate to say it, but I would hate to have her as a mom with all the crimes she's covered and creeps she's prosecuted! They will never be let out of her sight. Which is a good thing until you are about 16...17...18...

:D

She'll do fine, I'm sure.

I am going to disagree.... I am not famous beyond my island BUT its all in what you teach. The boundaries you set.

Congratulations to Nancy!!! I sure hope the babies do well. Does anyone know exactly when she was due?? I know they said 'three months early' but I'm neurotic and like to know the exact number of weeks/days. I will pray for these babies and I so hope they do well!!

Which part are you disagreeing with?! :waitasec: "She'll do fine" or "I'd hate to have her as my mom" ? (Or the name "lucy") :D

Congratulations to Nancy and her husband! Its a huge discrepancy in their weights, that is a big boy for coming three months early! Hopefully she had the lung maturity shots before their birth.

I'm thinking it was mid January, but that first pic we saw of her PG looked farther along than 3 months, even for twins.

They probably will be FINE, it was a real blessing, a stroke of luck, that the boy is big, they have a harder time with prematurity, he's getting the strong start he needs. The little girl will catch up quick. Congrats to Nancy and hubby.

OMG I just read that Nancy is 48. Isn't that to old to even get pregnant? I am 46 and have a 19 month old and 3 month old granddaughter. I am in pretty good shape and babysit them a few days a week and they wear me out! I do enjoy taking care of them and could never let them go to daycare. Luckily, I work at home and am able to care for them.
Nancy will be able to hire plenty of help -- nurses, nannies, whatever she needs. I wish her and the babies well, but people like Nancy do not have the issues to deal with that us "regular" people do - they can afford the BEST of everything for those babies including full-time, live-in help to cook, clean, change nappies and do all those less than"glam" things that mothering preemie twins requires.

With donor eggs and hormone treatments anyone can become a mother at almost any age these days. 48 is not "old" in the world of IVF - although, as Nancy proved, older mothers do have much more risk to their OWN health - and that of the babies. I hope the babies are healthy and hearty and grow fast and strong. I would assume at 48 they were MUCH wanted and are going to be her ONLY kids. They will be much loved by both parents.

I hope the twins do well! Congratulations to the family :)

My oldest was born at 24 weeks, weighing 1 lb 8 oz in 1995, and she's doing fine. There have been so many improvements since then in neonatology, ao there's a lot of hope Nancy's littles will do great!

My neice is doing great now but was born weighing in at a grand total of 13 ozs...at 23 weeks. Nancy's little girl is a big girl by comparison.. and no doubt will have much love and the care she needs. She will be fine and catch up quickly..unfortunately multiple births always have a greater risk of maternal and fetal issues resulting in the early delivery of the babies.. fortunately many are just fine.. some will have some challanges but each and every one is special. It sounds like Nancy may have had more than just the edema but perhaps twin to twin transfusion reuslting in the significant discrepancy between the birth weights.. that could be further reason Nancys health was comprimised and the haste in the delivery of the babies. The baby girl was likely at risk.. just a thought.

Congratulations to Nancy and her husband on their 2 little angels..

Nancy deserves any happiness that comes her way. Being adroit as a prosecutor especially for a woman brings about bad naysayers. Even my own child doesn't hold Nancy in the same view as I. I say walk a mile in her shoes and then judge but of course that is not likely to happen. Just glad mom and babies are holding their own. Just remember folks, she doesn't need cable TV, so she just might be able to keep on even when she is obnoxious to bring a little truth to the table. It is the people who don't need the attention who are most likely to get it.

In Nancy Grace's case any crime being reported and subject to scrutiny is worth it. Let the chips fall and let the perps be arrested. Or not if their alibi is firm. Or not being manipulated.

that baby is HUGE for being three months early
wow!
congrats to Nancy and her hubby. I hope BOTH babies do well and that both babies do great!!!

Congratulations to Nancy and David and welcome to the world, Lucy Elizabeth and John David!! Prayers for them to thrive and grow and be healthy. Nancy wanted those babies for so long and will be a great, devoted mom to them, 48 or not. She is very, very blessed indeed.

I wish her all the best! I don't think 48 is old to have a baby these days. I think you actually get better care because you are considered "high risk"
I do have a question though...why would there be such a big difference in the babies weight? Would anyone in the medical field or that has had twins no the answer? I guess I thought, naively that they would both be very close to the same weight???

David spoke tonight on NG's show and said that Lucy came out crying loudly and is going to give NG a run for her money! John is happy and content.

At 5 lbs, will he be going home sooner? No matter what the weight is, do both babies still have the same lung issues?

Opme,

I believe twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome only occurs in identical twins. Maybe their son takes after his father and their daughter takes after Nancy (size wise). David is quite a bit taller than Nancy.

Prayers for the twins to continue to grow and thrive. I am sure they are much loved.

I saw the NG show tonight and they had a segment where Nancy shows the nursery. I think it is neat that she is using every one of the gifts her fans have sent her.

It could be intrauterine growth retardation (IUGR) but its hard to say the standard weight of the little girl since it doesn't list how many weeks Nancy delivered at. The boy is big since at growth of a 1/2 lb a week at the end would put him at being a 10 lb baby at the beginning of January but not super abnormal. It would depend on her due date.

Taxi- Many factors from what I know influence the babies coming home, Including eating and breathing. How large they are doesnt determine their lung maturity since my daughter was big also and her lungs were not mature at 38 weeks and I didnt have gestational diabetes.

Thanks Autumn for the info. Much appreciated;)

I saw Nancy's show last night when it was announced that she had the twins early. I bet she was scared on Sunday but thank God, everything turned out well. Nancy deserves happiness. It was a long time coming. She is going to be a great Mom. They showed a clip of the nursery with Nancy narrating. Godspeed to the twins and Nancy!

Gestation wise their lungs are the same age.
Her Dr's probably anticipated an early delivery and gave her steroid shots (OUCH They HURT!) to help develop the babies lungs.
My son a month premature was 7.1 lbs because of those shots.
