This is really difficult for me to tell, but the implications are so insane if true...

Could the weeds he is holding in his hand be the same weeds left lying on the ground and not collected as evidence??
Yes absolutely. When i first saw the picture i wondered what they were doing there

Agreed. Very off. This site is very empathetic towards the family, but based on what I've read on other platforms, the goodwill towards them is waning. It just seems like in other cases, the families fight hard for their missing loved one, and quite frankly, I don't see that here. MOO.
There is a major search being organized for tomorrow Feb. 22 leaving from Hobby Lobby. Would be great for some from family to join it?

This may be by advisement via the FBI. We have no clue what is going on behind the scenes.

Also did they even take the doormat. I also wondered if there was a hidden key in or under a flower pot or something.

I do wonder if the FBI may think publicity and/or access to the family/SG is a motive. Maybe hoping limiting that access will cause perp to keep contacting media and slip up?

Like all the discussion we’re having about LE, this case is so strange and so public with so much attention, but so little information/results at this time, people need something to dissect.

It seems strange to view media attention on a missing persons case as a negative, but I do think it may be time for some media to move on.

I don’t think the 24/7 news cycle is helping at this point.

I do think a press conference, even to reshow the videos/pics they have and ask for tips, would be helpful to refocus this. (And maybe a few pics of Nancy since she seems to continuously be lost in all this)

Investigation IMO has been problematic.

Cessna aircraft is outfitted with high-resolution thermal imaging cameras capable of detecting heat signatures in rugged terrain. After argument, sheriff had re-assigned pilot to ground duty. No one else could fly plane. Valuable time lost.
NG home area searched, then left. Neighbor alerted missed roof cameras.
Home area not off limits yet revisited by investigators.
Pizza delivery guy walked right into investigation.
Rio Rico man detained because of Door Dash/door broken down. Nothing.
Nearby mother/son home searched. Why? Nothing.
Man/home searched wth no evidence except he was previously in prison.
Found glove revealed no results.
Backpack currently no evidence.
APS left card left in door.
No requests for "people" organized searches for NG.
No ground searches of desert near Tucson.
Reward has not yet worked.
NG not found. Criminal(s) not found. Bitcoin continual demanders not found.
What has a search with no results cost so far?
Ya know, the FBI handled the Butler shooting of DJT. We found out virtually nothing. There were congressional hearings, encrypted whatever on perps cell phone etc etc. Now they have basically said the perp acted alone...FBI, was definitely flummoxed in the months following the assassination attempt.

Cost of NG search..Huge, I am sure but these guys get paid daily regardless of the crime committed. Planes, raids etc..that's probably an outside expense. IMO, they did what they could with possibly some mistakes. Perp was pretty damn savvy. he is probably off living his life and the sheriff and FBI are left licking their wounds. Ya win some, ya lose some. They rarely take their loses personally. Like MD's and nurses, you can't get heavily emotionally involved or you burn out really fast. Not being callous..being realistic. There was a possible exit ramp. Pay the RANSOM. NOT DONE. THE FRENZY WILL SUBSIDE. Unless a DNA suspect is identified and arrested and is convicted, this case is in the freezer. JMO

Although not tresspasing, someone left an APS card in the front door. No one stopped or saw this. Who is to say there weren't tresspassers if this can happen?

The front door might have been processed first for all we know.
LE may have placed the card on the door for the investigator.
Someone mentioned that LE let a delivery guy through the tape to deliver a package. People were not free to recklessly roam all over that crime scene. The house was taped off.

It may well be, but it may also be time to change tack. Time is not on their side. There's been other cases where the family went against law enforcement advice and it ended up being the right decision, for example in the Elizabeth Smart kidnapping.

They almost certainly are and I wish they would have been collected. Even though they may have not contained any evidence as the perp had gloves on, and i doubt saliva/sweat etc would be very viable to extract from organic material.

With that said you have to remember the significance of them likely wasn’t known until video footage was recieved.

I think that's it in a nutshell.
Still, everything ought to have been collected.

I read here somewhere that is it LD? I get confused by all the initials, but he was not in the state at the time or he was on some job? Hopefully someone comes along about this "alibi" he keeps telling reporters he has.

Edited to add LD has evidently clammed up? He now put up no trespassing signs all over his property. Interesting.
Thanks for clarifying. I have been intrigued with LD as a potential suspect and if he truly has the alibi that he claims (and likely is true because it can easily be checked), I'm disappointed that he can prove that he wasn't in the area. If he, indeed, can absolutely prove with a strong alibi that he wasn't in the area that night.

I have known of a case where the perp could prove they were 200 miles away and in another state the night of a murder. But, it turned out that he checked into a hotel that was 200+ miles away from their home, then immediately went back to murder his wife, and then returned to the hotel by early morning hours. This was years ago and the perp didn't take into account cell phone pings, so that was problematic for him. And, the hotel had footage of him leaving and returning in a side door of the hotel and digital evidence of him leaving and returning to his hotel room with his key being recorded at the times of entry and exit.

FBI had enough evidence linking him to NG's disappearance that a federal judge approved a federal warrant to search his house. A federal warrant has a fairly high bar so while he may not be the actual perp, I'm still curious about his possible involvement. Maybe there will be evidence in his Road Runner that the FBI took in for testing.

Agree. Absolutely everything should be collected. regardless of whether it's relevance to the crime is known. JMO

My apologies if this has already been asked/answered as it's impossible to keep up with this fast-paced discussion.

Has the Guthrie family hired their own private investigator/s? After nearly three weeks with seemingly little or no progress in the case, I would want to get a second opinion, so to speak, and engage my own team of investigators.

Arizona couple may have uncovered a key clue in the search for Nancy Guthrie, finding a pair of blood-stained gloves and a rock with dried blood roughly a mile from her Tucson home, days after she was reported missing.

The couple, who requested anonymity, discovered the gloves on Feb. 11, lying about 10 feet apart near Campbell Avenue in the Catalina Foothills.

The goodwill toward the family was interrupted on like day 3 when AB announced to her over 300,000 subscribers (at that time) what her source leaked to her.

This is going around social media at the moment and people are tying it to the report date on the Pima County Sheriff Evidence Submission Portal. If you go to the portal it says report filed 1/31/2026 6:00 PM
I'm thinking that it was a mistake for the last seen date. ??

I don't think there's anything to this other than someone inputting the wrong date/time. The ex-FBI agent linked in the post you quoted can lose sight of reality quickly with one random piece of information. Sometimes she is very insightful, especially when talking about general FBI procedures... other times I feel she has lost her mind (example: Delphi case).

I don’t think it’s “could it be”, without a doubt in my opinion those are the same weeds. This case was botched from the beginning. Even before the porch video came out (on Feb 10) it was obvious that those weeds were out of place, the doormat and Nest camera mount should have been taken in to be examined for evidence, and the house should have remained a crime scene and not released nearly immediately.

I hope if I ever go missing (since I live near Nancy) that sheriff Nanos is no longer employed here. How embarrassed he should feel at his handling of this case, IMO.

*I recall the case you are referring to.

*I also recall another, where the suspect seemingly had an airtight alibi: Until the person whose house he was at far away admitted to lying for him.
