AZ Nancy Guthrie, 84, (mother of TODAY Show host Savannah Guthrie) missing - last seen in the Catalina foothills area on Jan 31, 2026

I’m always wary of judging peoples looks whilst they are only a suspect. This comes from closely following the Joanna Yates case.
Christopher Jeffries in the Joanna Yates’ - he was basically tried and found guilty by the media for looking ‘scary’ and eccentric - turns out he had absolutely nothing to do with her murder and the media had to pay all sorts of compensation to him.
Yes, I agree, and this is not directed at you or at anyone in particular, but I also dislike judging the looks of the confirmed perpetrator. For one thing, it's mean, and it feeds a certain mindset that people in general should please us with their looks.

For another thing, what about the person who looks similar to - or loves someone who looks similar to - the perp, who is having their appearance torn to shreds by strangers? How would it feel to know that so many people think your (or your loved one's) appearance is evil, disgusting, revolting, nauseating, etc.?

I do understand forming initial conclusions based on mannerisms, facial expressions, manner of dress, and so on. But I don't understand judging people on their weight, wrinkles, bags under their eyes, color of their eyes, or cut of their hair.

And to be clear, I feel the same way about a perp or victim categorized as beautiful, etc. One way to see this with new eyes is to imagine the news anchor announcing that "Up next, police are investigating the murder of an ugly teenage girl..."

I think these crimes and disappearances carry enough weight on their own, that we don't need attractiveness qualifiers to tell us how to feel.

As Bertrand Russell said, 'In all affairs it's a healthy thing now and then to hang a question mark on the things you have long taken for granted."

Now, let's find Nancy! What is everyone thinking with regard to whether she is still alive? I am hopeful and have all my fingers crossed.

All MOO

Interesting, I wonder why? House too big for one person? Maybe move closer to Savannah?
Looks like she tried to sell it in 07 also.

I thought i read the backdoor was broken like in forced entry? Not sure but if they didn't go through the front door but through the back door then surely they would have noticed such a thing?
It was TMZ that said that the front door was kicked in, but the pictures posted didn’t show any damage to me. Maybe it was the back door? I don’t know if I came to my mom’s house and found the door kicked in, if I would go in? I’d want to, but would be afraid. I’d be call 911 immediately. I would think there’s cameras working in the area at 11am Sunday morning and would verify the time of arrival/departure etc.

I don't live alone, but when someone knocks on the door when I am alone, I shout, "TOM! Someone is at the door!" to give the impression a man is in the house. I also have done that outdoors when I felt like a creep was creeping me - I shouted and waved to nobody in the distance, "TOM! I'm here - I'll be right there!" or something like that - use a big voice even it you feel like a fool.

Disclosure: Tom is my cat's name.

Can i ask, is pagesix considered a sketchy source or a legitimate one?
They are mostly a celebrity gossip/entertainment column, and they are big on clickbait sensational headlines. I would take anything they report on with a boulder of salt.

Hey Everyone.
We need to shut this thread down for just a bit. I have to look into something about the Ashleigh Banfield report regarding Nancy Guthrie's son-in-law as a suspect. Then I will come back and tell you what I found.
IT WON'T BE LONG. I PROMISE.

Realtor.com shows home was on the market October 2024 and taken off the market. Last month, electrical work was done on the home that required permits (https://www.realtor.com/realestateandhomes-detail/M2579120168)

I looked up the building permit info on Pima County's permit gateway. Permit was pulled September 2025 and passed inspection last month. (Public Record - Search Link: Records Search)
Project description:

Electrical Equipment; Upgrade under 400amps; MPU or MSA

That being said, it is safe to assume, workers have been on/in that property in 2025 and as recently as this year.

JMO Just seems to me that if AB is such a great friend to SG why on earth would she implicate SG's sister by suggesting that her husband is a potential suspect. Glad that I have dear friends who would never do something like that to me. JMO

Nanos today Wednesday:
Despite reports circulating Wednesday morning that Nancy Guthrie’s son-in-law had been identified as a possible suspect, Nanos quickly shot that down on Wednesday as well.

“At this point, investigators have not identified a suspect or person of interest in this case,” Nanos said in a statement posted to the Pima County Sheriff’s Department’s Facebook page. “Detectives continue to speak with anyone who may have had contact with Mrs. Guthrie. Detectives are working closely with the Guthrie family. While we appreciate the public’s concern, the sharing of unverified accusations or false information is irresponsible and does not assist the investigation. No suspect or person of interest has been identified at this time.”

Would you need a screwdriver or some sort of tool to remove it?
There is a special tool that comes from Nest to remove it but you can easily just use a screwdriver to pop it off.

...And one of the only motives that made sense to me was a possible family member wanting an inheritance.

Sister's car was just towed by LE? That is major.
Or, didn't have the money to pay back a loan, perhaps, for the house. I believe that I read that AG and husband moved 10 minutes from NG about a year ago. Their house either cost $650k or is worth that. Did they have to borrow money from a family member with the promise to repay? Just throwing this out there. It is mere speculation.

JMO.

Well, Banfield had broken her story claiming SIL "may be" a suspect according to an inside LE source, so I can understand why they are covering their faces from the DM cameras, especially if social media is running rampant with speculation and accusations and I can't see why it wouldn't be. They will probably end up with stalkers and threats despite LE formally countering these claims today. Jmo
What time did AB’s report come out? Was it her regular daily program and if so what time does it usually come on?

The AZ public records show they put a down payment of $295k for the current home after selling their previous home. The loan is in their names only - nobody else. There doesn't appear to be any type of financial distress with the property.

It was about 11pm mountain time I believe, and it was her “ drop dead serious” channel”

This is a Christmas Photo photo of the family from Nancy's Facebook page (source).

Nancy's son in law, Tommaso is on the right. I'm just not seeing this man having anything to do with Nancy's disappearance and I'm kind of appalled at Ashleigh Banfield's report which implicates him when there is no confirmation from Law Enforcement.

I can't imagine the damage an accusation like this has done to the family.
I'm so hoping that Nancy is okay, wherever she is.

Edit - I have chosen to blur the faces of the children as they're minors.
