I hope for her sake and her kids that she died at the house and has not suffered for a week. This is so very sick.

If the body is on the property, the dogs would be able find it. Are they even using the dogs?
Plus the odor. After all this time neighbors would be overwhelmed with bad smells.
I hesitate before posting this, but it's something I can't really shake from my mind and your post reminded me of it again.

The first day the photos were shown to the public I went to the Daily Mail online website and scrolled through some of the comments, taking most with a huge grain of salt; however, one of the comments stood out. It was about the blood by the front door. Someone (who may have not know what the heck they were talking about) said with some degree of confidence (again, stranger on the internet so consider the source): the blood appears to have been blood that was aspirated.

My apologies to any and all if this is inappropriate speculation.
Or a bloody nose or cut on your hand.

If the kidnappers gave that information away, they are utter idiots. The smart thing to do would have been to keep quiet on the death and just insist on payment for Nancy's return, then just disappear with the ransom and leave the Guthries with nothing.

Respectfully, we were not in the house. I would not be surprised if these were just robbers or such who witnessed a natural event at night and essentially, staged the abduction of a live body. Maybe there were some signs left in the house. We really don't know how it all looked.

Someone here remembered Kelsey Berreth's case. I remember what her mom said at the beginning and how she presented herself. From what I understand, the house looked very different after Kelsey's "dissappearance" than what the mother had said.

SG net worth is estimated at over $40 million. Should have paid immediately IMO.
Net worth and actual available cash / banked wealth are often quite different things. It probably doesn't mean she has $40m sitting in her account.

Millions? How do you know? What if it was a demand for $200,000?
Instead by not paying she has likely caused the death of her mother.
Because the outlets who received them said it was "millions of dollars."

Again, you do not pay someone who will not give you proof of life. That's a key requirement in any negotiation.

He has a life and a right to chill considering what he's involved in. In my Georgia town the mayor, police chief, etc. go to the sports games. It's a way to show support the community.
I saw our sheriff at the library today!

BTK was the president of his church congregation. If somebody had been sick and couldn't bring a dish to the potluck dinner, he'd offer to bring an additional dish for them. He did tortured and did other horrifically evil things to people and yet he was the "nice neighbor" and leader in his church.
That is absolutely wild to think about. You know what is weird? I can remeber that case in the news and I remember an fbi profiler saying we are looking for an average guy who probably drives a very average, boring type car. This is a guy flying very under the radar basically.

This is an interesting perspective. I don’t know if I would necessarily think his presence was meant to calm or assure the community, I’d probably side eye and be judgmental of why he was there (just being honest)

moo

Ex-LE speaking on various channels have said it's a bad look, just passing on opinion...

She is wealthy. It’s very simple.

IMO (Outcome Percentages)

Recovered alive: 35%
Best case, and still plausible if the message is real and the offender is seeking leverage, not concealment. The family’s “we will pay” video reads like an attempt to keep a live recovery path open.

Recovered deceased (or evidence leading to that conclusion): 55%
Sadly, the combination of scene indicators and the lack of publicly confirmed proof-of-life by this point pushes the base rate toward this outcome, especially if ransom comms are not authenticated

Not recovered / unresolved in near term: 10%
Less likely if the communications produce traceable leads, more likely if all communications prove fake and the physical evidence yields no identity links.

I think having the body still means a lot. It allows loved ones to truly grieve, find a sense of closure, and honor and celebrate a life by laying someone they love to rest in a meaningful way.
And it also allows the mind to settle in relation to coming up with worst case scenarios about what happened. It helps to ground reality. IMO that's why when someone is missing and never found, their loved ones live with the ongoing trauma of what may have happened. And unfortunately worst case scenarios can plague them. I truly hope that alive or passed, Nancy is returned home

There has been much discussion regarding 'celebrate with her', as a reference to celebration of life. I googled SG and found this regarding her religious upbringing and beliefs.

[...]
Savannah Guthrie, who grew up Baptist in Phoenix, Arizona, is a practicing Christian who regularly attends Trinity Grace Church in Manhattan and considers faith to be an essential part of her life. She is also raising her kids in an interfaith home with her Jewish husband, Michael Feldman. As she recently told the The New York Times, they celebrate both Christmas and Hanukkah.

“I’m always so fundamentally aware of not being the center of the universe,” she told the Times. “Faith really helps you know your place in the world. And I really value that. And I find it endlessly fascinating. Believing in God, loving God, believing in a compassionate God… [it] just absolutely spreads through everything I feel and the way I look at the world.”
[...]

I hope her faith is helping her now.

JMO
Well she didn’t grow up in Phoenix, she grew up in Tucson.

But "celebrate with us"? Idk, i'm not American so i'm not familiar with using celebration in combination with a deceased family member. Is this something common in US?
In Australia too, definitely very common

Proof of kidnapping isn't enough? Isn't that a risk someone would have to absorb at that point?
