Let’s parse the latest from Pima SD:

No briefings planned unless there’s a “significant development.”

“The sheriff is not granting additional one-on-one interviews. The sheriff remains the sole spokesperson for the Pima County Sheriff’s Department regarding this investigation.”

“This remains an active and ongoing investigation. Detectives and agents continue to conduct follow-up at multiple locations. Details of that follow-up are not being released at this time.”

Still no suspects, persons of interest or vehicles identified.

Hey folks,

There was a bit of a glitch and a few posts got deleted that should not have been. They will be reinstated but things are moving fast and we're doing our best to get to everything.

Still seems insensitive to me. And I have no idea if they were both cooking or grilling and too busy to assist her by picking her up. It wouldn't take them that long to manage picking her up. JMOO
This. They only live reportedly 10 minutes away. I could not believe, I don't care whatever people argue about how independent someone is, etc., who can't drive 10 minutes to pick up an 84-year-old on a cane? And I also think that, if this goes the way it looks like it's going, it really does speak volumes. I have thought that for days now.

I have had to go to mom's this past week early in the morning (to give her dang cat his insulin lol) I have been parking out front and have had to ask her to unlock the front door for me because... I have NEVER used it and don't even have a key for it. We usually use the backdoor and it has a keypad. I was thinking I should probably have a key for that door lol

I don't think it would be odd at all if the family also used the garage to enter the home. I think it is quite normal for everyone to have their preferred entrance into their home and family follows suit.
I use my garage to enter my home most of the time. It is attached to the house and I can pull in and then go right into my kitchen

Abducting someone’s mother to stop them reporting at the Olympic is insane, I’m not buying into that theory at all

I am undecided/not convinced that AG and/or her husband has anything to do with NG's disappearance. If they do, I hope they are prosecuted to the fullest extent. If they don't, I can't imagine the pain that they and the rest of the family is and will go through for the rest of their lives.

I am the local daughter that has the responsibility of caring for my mom who has some dementia. It can be both a blessing and a curse and can be a source of some very difficult family dynamics - even in the best of families. I can imagine that there may be a certain amount of resentment from AG towards SG & CG - not that she doesn't love them and can even be proud of/happy for them and their success. But it can be very hard to be the one that is faced with the day-to-day care of an aging parent. Even if NG wasn't in need of full-time "care", there is still the sense that you (AG in this case) are the one to make sure she is OK, that she gets to appointments, social things, has/takes her medicine, runs errands, makes sure household and financial things are done, etc. And you do this day in, day out while your siblings live far away and may seem blissfully unaware of the day-to-day care you provide. It often feels like you are the sole person responsible for your mom's health, safety, etc.

So when this tragedy happened, even if AG had nothing to do with it, I can easily see how she could feel responsible/guilty and/or even feel like the rest of the family is blaming her. Add to this that this is a very public case and there is so much speculation that AG and/or her husband are involved and that many in the media/social media are openly saying they are guilty. Imagine how difficult it must be to deal with your mom being missing under this circumstances and then having to cope with the public blame and worry if your own siblings may believe you are responsible. And even if they aren't "responsible" in the sense that they harmed NG, the pain of feeling responsible because you were the last one to see her and that you didn't keep her safe and wondering if your own siblings are questioning your involvement must be unbearable.

One of the things I love about Websleuths is that it is victim-friendly so I am kind of surprised that there has been so much posted here openly accusing AG and/or TC of being involved. I understand and respect that Websleuths is where we share our thoughts, theories, etc but I always thought that we weren't supposed to speculate about someone's involvement unless/until they were named a person of interest by LE. I really hope that AG (and TC) had nothing to do with this and that somehow the family will be able to heal at some point.
I was thinking the same, but it’s been more than a heartbeat since I’ve done more than peek at threads so have things changed? This one did pull me back in to commenting. Anyway, I’m taking a guess that since there was a statement made about TC being a suspect by an approved journalist? that provides the link needed. Though again, I thought it had to come from LE. MOO.

NG was probably used to taking Uber for appointments, shopping etc. if she didn't want to drive. She probably has an upgraded account and gets priority rides

If the family is involved and the ranson is just tailgated, this really complicates things for the family. Do we suppose the ransom is all coming from SG?
Why is everyone so hung up on money and financial worth of the family? It really sounds mercenary. IMO, it's been a week and only last night did they say "we will pay". They know no more now than theu did when she disappeared and no money has changed hands and 530 tomorrow is a deadline. Playing games as to if the ransom demand is real or not, is risky business. They waited too long. IMO, this woman will not be recovered alive. Too much BS..red herrings like the AB story about TC, and wayyyy too much time wasted. Why would you barter for your mother's life? JMO.. I am getting disgusted with the obsession as to who is worth what and who pays. You can always make more money but you cant make more time. MOO

Maybe she didn't want to drive home in the dark as many seniors try to avoid that. But I find it odd that her daughter or son in law didn't drive that short distance and pick her up to begin with. JMOO
Maybe she felt like she IS a bother to them and didn't want to burden them with picking her up. I wonder what their relationship was like the past few years. I wonder if the daughter gets short with her and if the SIL does tons of smart remarks and eye rolls at her. We cannot rule out elder abuse no matter how sweet other family members seem. Maybe they have been abusing her and threatening if she tells SG something worse will happen. I hate to even be saying this scenario but we don't know. I hope I am wrong, she is still alive, the kidnappers have a change of heart blah blah blah but this is where I am at currently. Elder abuse that maybe went further than usual. Maybe only the SIL is abusive to her but that still makes AG guilty of not helping her and reporting it, even if AG is afraid of him herself.

I hope this isn't the case. I was abused my entire childhood and my grandparents enabled my mother letting her bring me over beaten/bruises and welts (done by my "father") and she would call me off school until the visible things would fade away. Then I would have to go back into that abusive situation until I was 18. Not trying to throw a pity party for myself but just using my childhood and saying the same thing can happen in your golden years but in reverse, the kid or their spouse abusing the parent. Not because the parent ever abused said child, just because the child is a mean sob or their spouse is. People going to lengths to keep you quiet and threatening "if you tell anyone it will be worse next time". So many children and elders being abused 24/7 and it is just not given a thought or care. Why are there not any commercials about poor children and elders being abused and asking for donations to help "those in need" like they do with all the other causes on tv 24/7?

No matter which way this happened and the end result it is disgusting. Even if she is returned alive and well it doesn't change the hell and fear she went through. People make me so sick I can't help picturing her struggling at her age with some abusive creep.

If a search warrant was given for AG property (assuming for last night and today) would they also search their work pcs? Look at chat gpt searches, Google history, Google location of SIL and AG? If a premeditated event, wouldn't you maybe hide under the cover of a work pc to look up maps, routes, tools needed, etc?
It would depend on the scope of the warrant that was granted. If it covers any/all electronic devices inside the residence then yeah, they could search those. It just depends on what probable cause prompted the signed search warrant.

As with everything, there’s always an alternative explanation. Maybe they opened the garage door and then she decided she wanted to go in through the front door, so the garage door was closed. Maybe they sat and chatted in the car and she was ready to launch as soon as the garage door opened.
Also, my MIL opens her garage with a keypad attached to the side of the garage, which she opens as she is ready to walk in. There are many different scenarios which allow for 2 minutes to be a realistic amount of time from open until close.

The search of AG's house really intrigues me. I can imagine a search at the start of the investigation, that makes total sense. But to return late at night a week later, and possibly be using Luminol (given reports about the dim lighting/photography) seems very strange. Could this be done as a matter of routine, just to rule out the local family members?

Was anyone else at the dinner besides TC and AG?

(Hi everyone. I have been a member of WS's various iterations since the very, very early days when the main focus was JonBenet, but haven't been around much in recent years. So grateful for all of your info and observations regarding this case. It's so tragic and yet fascinating.)

Thanks for bringing this forward @CandyKiss , it is the same timeline I have.

Saturday, Jan. 31

  • 5:32 p.m. — Nancy Guthrie takes an Uber to her family's home for dinner
  • 9:48 p.m. — Guthrie is dropped off at her Tucson, Arizona, home by a family member. The garage door opens
  • 9:50 p.m. — The garage door closes

Sunday, Feb. 1

  • 1:47 a.m. — The doorbell camera is disconnected.
  • 2:12 a.m. — The camera's software detects movement, but there is no video available since Guthrie did not have an active subscription with the company, meaning the footage was not saved.
  • 2:28 a.m. — Guthrie's pacemaker app disconnects from her phone.
  • 11:56 a.m. — Guthrie's family checks on her after she did not show up at church.
  • 12:03 p.m. — Guthrie's family calls 911 to report a missing person.
  • 12:15 p.m. — Investigators arrive and launch a search operation, including the use of drones and search dogs.
  • 6:46 p.m. — The Pima County Sheriff's Department posts on social media to announce Guthrie's disappearance.
  • 9 p.m. — Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos speaks to reporters near Guthrie's house and says he hopes it is a search and rescue mission.

I would encourage anyone to make a copy of this timeline---to allow for a memory checks,

Could he be in a federal jail, or is that not how it works?
Would depend on the charge he was detained on and whether it was a federal crime (the bitcoin/ransom/computer stuff is federal)

How do you know its red herrings about TC?

I think her health and mobility wasn’t that bad or else they would have picked her up, I don’t think the Uber thing is particularly suspicious or odd.

  • #12,558
Has there been any sighting of TC since AB reported he was allegedly involved?
none that I know of and I've been checking as often as I can. I've seen 2 pictures, one with a dark beard and one with the same style beard but grey mixed with black hairs.

I don't think LE go around doing luminal testing as a matter of routine. In my experience, it's usually where there are strong grounds to suspect a crime has been committed or even existing evidence the crime was in fact committed there and they need to do further testing for fluids.
