Maybe NG and the friend spoke recently (or the previous Sunday) and acknowledged that they'd see each other at church? It's normal to miss church unannounced, not normal to miss a standing meeting with a friend without saying something. She might have tried to reach Nancy first before the daughter.

She had a recent birthday too. She was to attend the church service in person - or not. But maybe she had made plans to meet with church friend(s) after the service. Maybe brunch/lunch for a belated birthday celebration? This would be unexpected if she didn't share the info w/family, or someone remembered it on Sunday. Like, oh crap, she was meeting someone after church service, or they're picking her up. What should we do now? Should we call her friend? Go to the house? Whatever they told LE didn't check out because it was removed from the original timeline. Red Flag.

I just don't get the sense teenagers could be responsible for this. Their brains are not fully formed and there is so much scope for them to trip up quickly. We are seven days into an investigation with no clear view as to where this is heading. It also seems utterly bizarre the way the case is being handled and the information being disclosed on the very light end of the spectrum. I am still 50:50 professional kidnap versus someone known personally to NG.

Could be both. A young person known to NG (a hired help, for example) and professional kidnappers getting the information via him/her.

But specifically because it is so illogical, I think it all may merely be the product of another generation. An example: a famed profiler retired from FBI in 2009. A kid born at that time may be 16 or 17 now. I won’t understand these kids either. So just my theory: if something about the case makes no sense and yet “it is a case”, it might be just a product of another generation.

As to computers, I think teenagers can bypass cybersecurity much easier specifically because their brains are not fully developed.

The text message from the fake "ransom" person was sent to AG and TC and said "Did you get the bitcoin?" (and then something about them not seeing the transaction yet) but did not mention NG - so the detectives on youtube thought that this prompted LE to go back to AG's home to look for further evidence (potentially other contact with this individual .... it should also be noted this guy was in a band in SoCal).

I wonder if you can even see attendees in the livestream (even just a name). Some streams hide this information for privacy reasons, meaning it's possible even the theory that someone in a live stream noticed she wasn't attending does not stack up.

The Sheriff started to answer, "that's the family." But the reporter was still asking the question right when he answered that... so the reporter was asking, "have you talked to the people who reported her missing, the church people?" And then the Sheriff caught that part, so his answer was, "Oh, from the church as well. We're doing all kinds of interviews. Yes, I'm sure we have."

But... if you read it back, he's actually not specifically saying the sheriff's office DID in fact speak with anyone at the church. He said, "Yes, I'm sure we have" but in a way like well of course we would. But, it's possible there is some miscommunication here or why wouldn't he be have memory of this conversation.

THIS! THIS is what I remembered but didn't know where I had seen it. I remembered the quote "Yes, I'm sure we have" and that comment paired with that "call" being removed from the official timeline makes me think that there was no church person to identify and interview.

Not really. “Kidnapping” was a common prank when I was a teen, (well orchestrated with parents in advance), to make a birthday teen go to breakfast in their pajamas. Silly, and all in good fun.

I don’t mean this in the wrong way, but who was looking for Nancy being on a livestream church service. I understand that friends might look for each other in person, maybe to sit together or go to coffee after. Is it the same for virtual church?

And I wonder why Nancy wasn’t going to church in person. The fellowship and the feeling of togethership (especially during hymns) is something that many people especially enjoy. Did she miss it?

It doesn't necessarily have to mean she was avoiding someone or afraid of someone. A lot of older people lost critical muscle mass, etc., during Covid lockdowns. My sisters MIL actually had to go to rehab for it, and ended up in assisted living because she couldn't get back enough to live on her own again. She may have had the same thing happen to her. And after Covid, she just wasn't able to get back out for church services. Or, with her heart issues, maybe she was just concerned about getting sick.
