Who benefits from this? At first glance you might think a cash strapped daughter and SIL? I just don’t see it. It’s too messy. No body and suspicious circumstances? Good luck getting an insurance payout or quick estate settlement.

Could be that the neighbor has cameras in the back, or some kind of motion detector, that picked up something. Maybe called it in, so LE needed to check.
The septic tank is located behind the neighbor's wall. May have simply been wildlife, or coyote.

Maybe a tip or just standard investigatory procedure. JMO

This is an exact quote. Any theories on what this person thinks a "Solution" would be?
Obvious to me, that person was talking arrest(s). Of course it's just MO. Do I give it any weight? Well it hasn't come to pass yet and LE are still sticking to the, we have no suspects. Has any reporter asked LE at one of the PCs if they have any POI's? It's also kind of obvious, JMO

Driving and spending time with friends is different than having the ability to walk around and having a medication schedule. She also didn't drive the night she disappeared, to our knowledge
I was responding to your question of “what’s typical or expected for a person of this age with documented mobility issues, a pacemaker, and reliance on daily medications.’

Since I don’t know her personally, I only know what I’ve read about her, and what’s typical for her.

Chief Executive said solution is imminent. Interesting choice of words.

No POI according to this, there was a statement earlier by LE

"Investigators were spotted searching the septic tank at Nancy Guthrie’s house on Sunday, one week after the 84-year-old mother of NBC star Savannah Guthrie was apparently kidnapped from her Tucson, Arizona home.

At the same time, the Pima County Sheriff’s Department shared a discouraging update — “no suspects, persons of interest, or vehicles have been identified.” The local cops said they do not have a press briefing scheduled, either."

Anything is possible, but I just don't see AG or SIL being sophisticated enough to stump LE eight days into the investigation. IMHO, LE is now doing stuff that reeks completely of desperation, like re-securing previously released scenes, searching the septic tank, and sending cameras with no storage capabilities in to be analyzed, etc.

Sorry for presenting this awful thought—
but, I hope all the wheeled trash bins have been accounted for at NG’s home?

I just recalled another case here where a killer attacked and placed the victim in one and wheeled the bin off the property into a van, so that the victim was later reported missing. I believe the perpetrator dumped the bin (with her remains) in some rural area.

I know, horrible.

Was it FBI or Local LE that looked in septic tank?

I'm pretty sure there is no "solution" for this family.
Likely not. But it should be alarming for anyone within a days drive from the border.

I'm very curious about the recent three and a half hour nighttime search by the Sheriff's dept. (very widely reported in this thread and in the media) of an area home that's not the home of NG. (please forgive the vagueness, I'm just trying to be certain I don't break the rules here).

I'm wondering if anyone here familiar with police forensics/luminol tests would happen to know if police normally, even if they see no traces on the luminol tests, would follow up their low light photos (meant to show the luminol) with flashes (meant to show the scene?) Or, if they saw nothing on the luminol, would they skip a lot of the regular flash photos? And, if they found something they wanted to do a DNA test on, what kind of timeframe would be normal for them getting results?

Thanks!

Not sure, but either way it seems damning to the state of the investigation IMO. Maybe they think they can get DNA from someone who used the toilet? That seems highly unlikely.

I thought so too, but Turkey Trot's link ( a few posts back) is Mediaite which says it was FBI.......???? JMO
I just googled ....I see "cops", "investigators", "FBI" in different articles. so ?

I saw the drone footage of that on a local (AZ, though not Tucson) TV news. The officer poking around in the opening with a white pole had "Sherriff' in yellow lettering on the back of his vest.
