Suspects in a kidnapping. Charges can be upgraded later.
But to be clear, cops can't just go to a judge and say "we suspect them in a kidnapping and we want to search their house." They need specific evidence to convince a judge to issue the warrant and the warrant must be fairly specific regarding what they are looking for. Evidence collected outside the scope of the warrant can't be used at trial.

A consentual warrant is far more dangerous because they can seize anything they find even it was not something they were looking for. I personally would never consent to a search for any reason no matter how innocent I were.

I honestly wish that guy would STFU - He should not be mentioning anything contained in ransom demands full stop. I mean, I guess we can't be surprised, given who he is that he making a meal out of it!

I wish FBI/LE had gagged him regarding ransom... although imo that angle is done so, if that is the case, it won't matter.
He's not the only one. A reporter from KGUN9 Tuscon, which also received the same note was the one who spilled the $6M ransom by 5pm today or NG will be killed.

Many including LE experts believe it was the person/s intentions to play this out in the media, perhaps to inflict further distress. Those experts also point out this is very atypical and counterproductive for usual ransoms involving professional criminals (who quietly just want the money without heat on them).

Holy monkey, fbi offices around the country are deploying , wow, is this normal?
Maybe this is the result of Trump saying all agencies would be at their disposal?

That was exactly my thought too. I believe it started when she and MK were discussing the case right?
I think it started when she said TC was a probable perp, then from there it went on. But , I'm guessing her and SG had some words. On with MK she was noy taking any of it back. It could be her so called "secret" source has been subpoenaed and asked why he would reveal such a thing, or if he even did. I would stay out of this thing completely and let LE / FBI run the investigation. I've noticed a lot of media people have have really toned down ,one I think of is BE. You could see when he wsas on the AB segment and she was running her mouth , he was a little perplexed. So , yea, I think they all need to take chill pills, they're not helping.

If they didn't have a search warrant than anything they found would likely be barred from evidence at trial.
Not if the family signed a “consent to search”. A warrant if generally only needed if they do not have consent, in emergency cases, or if there is a need to search in privacy. If the families signed a consent, LE has the ability to search and anything found in the search can be used as evidence in a court of law. But the homeowners can revoke consent at any time and limit areas of search, which then LE would be required to get a warrant for those areas. If they have not placed any limitation, LE has the right to search given the consent is signed as defined by areas in the consent (home, cars, personal property, electronics, outer lying property).

uhmmm the FBI talked about the Watch and floodlight in the last press conference on Thursday. He only talked about it AFTER they did IIRC

Yep, deception during interrogation - not public statements, right?
Police can lie. They do it a lot. They lie to suspects and at times to the public. That's one reason people are advised against speaking to police without counsel.

Although you probably can't read anything into the fact that the deadline passed without the ransom being paid, and that the tone of SG's latest (and solo) video almost had an undercurrent of anger to it, if I WERE to read anything into it, it would be that SG may think she knows who kidnapped her mother.

Obviously I could be way wrong..

I have an older brother and a younger sister, and I can't say enough good things about either one. We grew up very close and remain close to this day (we are in our mid-late 60's). We know each other very well.

Not long after this thread began I started wondering: if the three of us were in the same room together over and over - in the same tense circumstances that SG, AG, TC, and CG have been in this week - would I be able to tell if one of them (and/or their spouse) had perhaps kidnapped our mother?

I'm sure it's different for each family and for different siblings with different age spacing, and we typically don't know in-laws as well as we do our siblings, but my answer has always been, yes.

What do you guys think?

No doubt about that in my mind. I think the author of these ransom notes very purposefully sent the letter to TMZ knowing it would turn into an all out circus. Just focusing on local media in Tucson wasn't enough.

Yes, the sealing of the warrant keeps it hidden from public and the person(s) listed in the warrant.
If consent refused, LE would inform they have a warrant. The difference is an unsealed warrant will show you the details. The sealed warrant just says they can search.

Usually consent is best way to go in sealed warrant situations as they are sealed for a reason.
So can the scenario still be true that they already DID have a sealed warrant to search, and then asked consent, and they said yes, so then technically the search was due to an informal consent by AG/SIL, not a warrant?

I think there is @tricia , I was on it earlier and accidently posted on it thinking I was here

Exactly. SO many commentators, including those with hostage experience, have stated they do not believe ransom demand is linked to situation with Ms Guthrie.

That's the consensus and I agree and also think the family believe it now too (following Savannah's latest vid)

Folks, it's Tucson not Tuscon!

This. 100%. They only come off like vultures when they drop bombs such as this. I mean, my dudes, there is someone's life on the line here. Have some damn respect, if not for yourselves at least the family!

BE is my GO To media source. AB is one level above NG, nails on a chalkboard.

Oh, I like BE , but, I could tell when AB was giving her scoop on TC and the car being towed , he was like WT?? and he was right there at 1 of the properties. He said, oh I haven't heard that, both about the car and suspect. There's so very few you can count on anymore !

On my phone, if I scroll all the way down to the bottom of the page, there’s a link there to the media thread.
Actually, not all the way down just underneath the text box where you would be writing a post.

Adding: the part about the flood light in the backyard being damaged. All this speaks to the authenticity IMO.
Interesting another camera was found and removed (from guest house facing her driveway). It was missed on the other 6 or so searches?

When I drove by on the Monday after the alert went out, there was a white car beside the guesthouse and nothing else there. No police, no sheriff, no security... It was strange really. She is part of our CFHA (Catalina Foothills Homeowner's Association) and also in our Nextdoor area and she posted in November 2025 asking for camera recommendations.

It's surreal I have been here for 5+ years and suddenly, less than a mile from my home we are talking about this bizarre case. Like many of you have repeated over the hundreds of pages, it seems odd and burdensome to kidnap an 84 y/o with mobility issues.

Michael Ruiz has done some very strong investigative journalism and unearthed a Special Durable POA from last year as well as, a camera that was on the guest house on February 6th, yet as of yesterday is gone. How does this happen with all of the media camped out in front of the house?

Micael Ruiz from Fox News posted this on X. For some reason the link will not work when I embed it in the text.

If this has been posted, I did not see it in the media timeline.
ETA for clean up

I meant his running commentary on whether ransom had been paid and details ONLY contained in demands.

Speaking out about monitoring the account specified for coin and whether $$ had been deposited or not is just wrong!

If it were a genuine kidnap for ransom case, giving out certain information could be disastrous.
