AZ Nancy Guthrie, 84, (mother of TODAY Show host Savannah Guthrie) missing - last seen in the Catalina foothills area on Jan 31, 2026

How long would that take realistically?
If the person has ever been arrested and is in the system, not that long. But if they have to use genealogy DNA, that could take a while to come up with possible relatives.

It's the highest priority. It is touch DNA though, so they wouldn't be able to use Rapid DNA technology on it. From what I can gather, it would take 1-3 days, with my guess being the lower end of that.
if the perp's in codis they could then find him within hours. but if they have to resort to FGG, that takes months in the best cases.

They actually can assist LE to some extent. Maybe they can look for a body etc. See that it's night, they may have heat sensing equipment etc.

They showed up in Uvalde and it was a BP agent who finally shot the Robb Elementary school shooter.

It looks like they're going where others haven't been able to go. I don't think this is immigration enforcement.

There is a Border Patrol station in Uvalde area. There was call for all LEOs to the school so they came—thankfully.
Heat seeking cameras wont find NG at this stage IMO

Can someone clarify why the Amazon package is still sitting there unopened? I would think it would be important to confirm whether it contains anything relevant to the case. With all the letters and ransom notes they are reporting showing up after the night NG went missing, please help a gal understand why they wouldn’t look in it? And take it away?
I raised the same issue yesterday. Even if it's something symbolic that could have been sent by the kidnapper.

Or is that a photo of him captured after committing the crime..? Walking back to the house after using the gun
SBMFF

I do not think he ever used the gun at Nancy’s (unless he pistol whipped her in the face to cause nose bleed or something).

If she had been shot, there would have been far more blood, and doorstep/front walk would have looked much different.

My opinion and conjecture only.

I agree, but if it was a kidnapping, why didn't the kidnappers send proof of life so they'd get their money and NG could come home? All I can think is that something happened very early with NG, and proof of life was impossible. I also agree that the media circus around this has been insane.
It is either something happened to her unexpectedly or the kidnappers are afraid they will be busted if they try to send proof of life. Digital forensics is very sophisticated these days especially when FBI is involved.

I had presumed (maybe wrongly) that this was earlier video footage that they had cut short and now were showing in full...

Trust me it's there . The 27 second one . Walks up, puts hand to camera , walks back to porch entrance , takes a step to the right, picks up rope. Starts walking back to door
Nope. It’s flowers. Lantana to be specific

That is still strange since the guy was already cleared before midnight yesterday I think?? Or was it today?
Nah, they were just trying to get in front of any DD driver bashing...à la Uber driver (not related to this case) scandal.

In some states, DNA is not taken until conviction, not at arrest.

So the article says that Carlos stated he was detained because a relative of his called in a tip that said that Carlos' eyes looked like the guy in the video released by the FBI at NG's front door.
That's going to make family holidays very very interesting in the future. I admit, I don't see that much resemblance to the picture.

Usualy a search is called off after a reasonable time. It could resume with new evidence/ideas, of course. It won't go on forever. How long before it is called off?

No crime except for the gun on the camera.
But my point is if no body can’t prove a gun used in crime. Just a possible thought as to why victim would not be left at house. Moo

I just had an interesting thought. Hoax or not, I would very much like to imagine the perp freaking out all day, wondering who on earth was going to turn him in for 1 bitcoin.😂
Let's say they determine this new letter to be legit (however one comes to that conclusion)....if the family had any seriousness about paying the original ransom (I have no clue how close they were or weren't), and if the bitcoin wallets are traceable, why not pay this new one? You either get valuable info or you don't but then you know who the person is that lied just to get money.

I'd like to know about that package? It wasn't there when the pics of this guy was at the door that I saw. IMO
It wasn't there at the night of the kidnapping but why it wasn't collected is beyond me. It could be a regular order or it could have something from the kidnapper.

I believe that's the video where he walks back to the walkway to pull out some lantana (flowering plant) branches and returns to try to obscure the camera with them.
