AZ Nancy Guthrie, 84, (mother of TODAY Show host Savannah Guthrie) missing - last seen in the Catalina foothills area on Jan 31, 2026

I'm not sure about that guy they arrested either..there is more to the story about him in terms of being turned in by his mother or whatever it was and his background and the delivery situation. Hopefully they got DNA from him someway, during the interview.

it just seems like the are doing everything in reverse and it's really weird. mOO

I also think it’s strange they had enough for warrants, sending SWAT, etc and released him after a couple hours? Even if he had an airtight alibi, you think they’d want to check it. I imagine that would take a bit of time.

I saw someone else suggest maybe they let him go to see if he would lead them to more evidence? Maybe. Or maybe his role was smaller than others and he quickly agreed to be a CI? Seems far fetched but I really can’t figure out why they would release him so quickly.

While everyone is entitled to their opinion. It's not necessary or helpful to respond to every comment re-stating the same thing. This thread is already fast moving.
Thanks I'm new at this

Maybe they are setting up a replica camera in the same spot and filming someone with known measurements to try to hone in on better height estimate for the mask guy. Like establishing a baseline.

Great thinking. They now have the video of the suspect at NG home. At that front door. This is a treasure trove of information they just got this week. I also suspect (like many) that what the FBI has from the extracted video was not all released to the public. IMO

This person has clearly never walked along the side of the road, or anywhere, lol. I walk past shoes, pants, jackets, underwear, shirts, socks, gloves, hats, and everything you can think of on my walk home from work. I always have questions, but I never get answers from the universe.
When the kids were little and we spotted items (all the time!) on walks, we made up stories about how the things were lost. It was an ongoing story for years on end.

Finding one single shoe is always a curiosity.

Hmm could that be from the other date LE is asking about
Possibly. Didn’t even think about that. The shoes definitely look a bit different to me.

Swabbing the floor for DNA in the exact sample places where the perpetrator was seen walking on in the video!
Perfect, environmental DNA from every rando who has walked on to that porch will either be found or the eDNA left by the perpetrator 11 days ago has now quite possibly has fully degraded only lasting days to possibly weeks. That won't taint a prosecution. IMO

Wondering if AB's source's opinion has changed now. 🤔

How irresponsible for one to leak possible POI / Prime suspects BEFORE authorities decide to do so publicly.

What ever happened to the police looking into NG son in law??
apparently they haven't really cleared him per se but who knows at this point if that is just poor communication at this point. Now it is seeming less and less likely to be him given the information even publicly known

Can anyone tell me where to find the WS list of approved sources? Or a list of those that aren’t approved or some guidance on what is allowed besides main stream media? I keep seeing people in this thread post a caution to them that their source is not allowed and the only thing I’ve found is places that say only MSM are approved sources but then I see posts using other true crime sources that I wouldn’t consider MSM that don’t seem to get that caution. I know Tricia is friend with and often has other true crime hosts on the live broadcasts so I’m guessing those would be allowed as sources but just wondering if there is an actual list that we can review when we’re unsure if it is approved. TIA

Going to make a guess here based on those tiles being 12"x12". He's 5'10"- 6'1". Closer to 5'10" IMO.

Going off of:
Door slab width: approximately 36 inches
Door height: approximately 80 inches (6’8”)
Full door opening including sidelights: approximately 60–66 inches (5–5.5 feet)
Arch peak height: approximately 84–90 inches (7–7.5 feet)
Porch tile size: approximately 12” × 12
Porch depth (front to back): approximately 26–30 inches (about 2–2.5 feet)
Concrete sidewalk width: approximately 3.5–4 feet
Estimated individual height: approximately 5’10” to 6’1”

If a burgarly gone wrong, what's with the smashed lights in the backyard? That seems like overkill (and potentially noisy).

Every idea that is reasonable still doesn't fit.

At this point I'm considering it was done for the thrill of it and the motive won't be more than that. I think the ransom was a hoax by an opportunist. I'm NOT committed to this theory and remain firmly on the fence, but "no reason" for the crime might be the reason.

Imo I'm going with lights at that back blue door might be more visible to the neighbors looking say if their dogs barked..

Can a person tell if they're being recorded on a Nest? Maybe the surprise wasn't the camera itself but that it was working, when the guy had reason to believe it had been disabled. That's what the hand-to-the-lens made me think; a test to see if anything activated. When it did, the perp had to come up with a Plan B. Is that something you can tell by viewing the camera from the outside? (I know this is very "conspiracy theory-ish" as it would imply pre-planning with an inside source.)
yeah, one of my theories about putting the fist in front was that he was testing something. sort of a vibe I get. not sure what he'd be testing though. sensitivity? ...and why?

if he didn't have someone watching the feed (hacked or already inside the house) and talking to him, he might have gotten feedback from seeing what made the recording indicator light turn on. (assuming it has one?) the weird fist pose might have been a way to block the lens while seeing the light.

wondering now if they recovered audio with the video and if so what might be on it.

Very specific date. January 11. Was this the date a neighbor reported someone in his yard or could the tower dump have shown a cell phone being in the area on those 2 dates? I don’t have a link to the neighbors remark so I could be wrong on that. JMHO
Jan 11 was a Sunday.Would she normally be at her friends watching a church service during those times? I can’t picture a landscaper or pool guy coming on a Sunday. A delivery driver maybe.

I've been wanting them to put up tents when they work. I think they read my comments about it.

j/k

Or least before the video was released to the public. imo
Or even yesterday?? Why now? Have they got the DNA off the gloves? Has the maintenance workers etc DNA samples come back?

Has anyone here compared the single photo of suspect without the backpack and holster to the videos and still of them wearing both? The shoes look a bit different. It almost seems like there’s a black strip on the shoes of the suspect without the backpack that I don’t seem to notice on the suspect that actually walks up to the door.
I noticed this too. In the pic with the backpack/gun, they look like light colored athletic shoes with black on the tread and toes. In the other pic, the shoes look light with a black collar. Looks like same guy, 2 different nights IMO

To be fair, it’s not common for data to be recovered from the cloud for cloud-only cameras without subscriptions.

If he knew that NG didn’t pay the subscription for cloud storage, he’d have assumed that, by the following day, the footage would be gone. Same thing if he assumed that the camera was recording to internal storage – taking the camera would make the footage inaccessible.

He turned out to be wrong, obviously, but I think the recovery of the cloud data surprised more than a few people.
I think the FBI arranged to get the camera images, because of the giant media coverage of this case. Not normally available, to a “regular” victims family.
