AZ Nancy Guthrie, 84, (mother of TODAY Show host Savannah Guthrie) missing - last seen in the Catalina foothills area on Jan 31, 2026

I doubt that it's the same guy, partly because of my understanding of the distance between the two locations and the time that the Nest camera was removed and the time that the guy with the two backpacks was videotaped. (Of course, my understanding or the timestamps could be wrong.)

That said, apparently NG's Nest camera is infrared and changes the apparent colors of objects. The guy with the two backpacks may have been photographed with a conventional camera, which shows the true (or almost true) colors of objects.

In his video, Levin said the camera was removed at I think 2.12, not 1.48 or thereabouts as previously has been reported.

True, though less likely especially considering the watch was somewhere most people would not keep one. MOO
I meant that (in addition to the other categories of people mentioned in an earlier post) someone who worked inside the house might have noticed the (slightly unusual) location of her smartwatch. That wouldn't mean they were responsible for the abduction, but they -- or someone they spoke with -- might have been behind the ransom note. (Assuming the flood lights were also damaged prior to the night of the abduction.)

They’ve also offered a $50k reward. One bitcoin is roughly $67k. They aren’t going to do the right thing over $17k?! Honestly, tell what you know and then get a reward, period. If they start giving money to any random person, who claims they know something about a case, it will set a huge precedent for the future.

Also, I’m somewhat surprised that the family hasn’t added to the reward. It’s only at $50k. You would think they would, but that’s just my two cents.

I fear the family may already have been scammed out of millions. I hope that I am wrong. This is so depressing on every level.

I wonder what lead them there? I haven't seen any activity near that location at all. Google Maps

Almost ALL of the activity is in that area. It's the nearest major intersection and they said a 2-mile radius.

Combined with the map showing the search area yesterday which was mostly along Campbell, I'd say they think the exit route was turning north on Campbell out of the neighborhood then left or right on Skyline. I think turning left is most likely because Skyline turns into Ina and leads straight to I-10.

A thought came to me and I haven’t seen this idea discussed anywhere else.

What if this whole thing did in fact start as a regular old random robbery/break in? Perhaps the guy knew an old lady lived there but nothing more. Then in the process, the bad guy learned about the “rich and famous” daughter and he pivoted to a stupid spur of the moment kidnap/ransom idea.

Say he comes in, finds Nancy, and starts demanding cash but she doesn’t have any to give him. He has a gun and Nancy panics. What if she says hey don’t hurt me, my daughter is on tv and can get you money. We can work this out.

Then the wheels start turning and this fool thinks hey, I could do a kidnap/ransom and get big $$$ 🤑 He’s a bumbling fool though and didn’t think any of it through. He has no idea how to contact the family with his ransom demand so he contacts the news.

I think the FBI isn't publicly confirming because even though the likelihood of AG/SIL being involved is slim, it's not impossible. They don't want to say the family is cleared, because they aren't. It doesn't mean they're guilty, just that until an arrest is made, everything is still on the table. I would assume in any investigation, suspects move up and down the list based on information coming in.
Yes this is the best way to conduct research, formulate theories based on data, then move them up and down the probability list as new facts come in.

I am not finding any NBC article stating that gloves found AT the home are being tested. Source?

• Multiple gloves found: Evidence recovered by investigators looking into Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance included multiple gloves. It’s unclear whether authorities believe they were worn by the person in the doorbell footage.

• Day 12 of investigation: Guthrie’s Tucson neighbors have been asked to submit any footage from doorbell cameras that includes cars and people from about four weeks before the 84-year-old went missing.

Tribute to mom: Savannah Guthrie shared a home video with her mother, saying the family “will never give up on her.

Does the guy in the NG ring cam video have a hood on his jacket? I have tried to find the video again for ages to no avail.

All those weird quotes from "Silence of the Lambs" and other serial killer movies in the Guthries' pleas to the kidnappers make me wonder if this isn't actually some twisted movie copycat crime.

Does not say when they were found in the home however. I’m posting this for the last time, as I don’t want to contribute to the volume in this thread. But here is the link.

If she wore hearing aides and did not have them in at night, perhaps she would not hear the AC shutting off. My mom wears them (not at night) and no way would she hear the AC was not running. I tease her that a marching band could come through and she'd be oblivious.
Likewise, she would not have heard any intruders since she wasn't wearing her hearing aids. The article below confirms that. "Nancy Guthrie’s personal belongings, including her cellphone, watch, wallet, hearing aid, medication and car, were left behind, authorities said."

You've got to be kidding me 🤦‍♀️

I hope this is not a repeat of the Brian Kohberger case, where everyone driving a white Hyundai Elantra is considered a suspect!

Here's one of the videos.

The alert was sent out to all users of the Neighbors App within a two-mile radius of Nancy’s home in the Catalina Foothills neighborhood north of Tucson, Arizona.

what does this have to do with what i quoted or asked?

i was asking if 5 miles away considered the same neighborhood (in this area)...

JMO if i drove 5 miles depending on which way I could be in a completely different area, social economic status, etc etc.

I originally thought the man on the Ring camera in the neighborhood DID NOT look like the perp from the video, but to be honest upon taking a closer look and with the renewed timing explanation "from" TMZ, I'm not so sure and I think it doesn't have to be the SAME person. MOO

The backpack that the man lifts up is hard to see, but to me there's nothing that explicitly shows that it's NOT the Ozark Trails backpack in the NG Nest video. Unless you can see otherwise?
I also think there's a possibility that this man isn't the one on NG's Nest video but perhaps was an accomplice in with 1+ others (as the FBI has said they are looking into multiple people being involved).
Maybe he gave or took the backpack to/from the person we see in the NG Nest video (who in one of them DOES NOT have the backpack on - it's unclear to me whether that's before or after the other footage and I don't think specific timing of each was released, but let me know if I'm wrong).

Sorry I'm working as well so haven't screenshotted everything but if someone wants to I think that would be helpful to determine either way, or I can look later!
For those curious about route/timing, if you look back two posts of mine I have a screenshot of the route from the Ring camera footage to NG's (and the TMZ article).
IMO it would be a huge coincidence (and very disconcerting!) if two different people with backpacks, etc were out and about in the middle of the night around the same time and fairly close distance. I’m leaning towards both being involved. One approached the door, one was a lookout, driver, etc.
