I happen to think that NG was targeted because of her famous daughter. If you have not see this Today episode it is quite interesting in light of the events.

SG has done other shows with her children featured. I don't know how she will move on after this. This will make celebrities take a serious look at exposing their families to any media.

Or a clever and savvy criminal who wants to use untraceable generic and secondhand gear to avoid identification if he is caught on camera. It's a lot harder to trace buyers of a walmart backpack and a cheap nylon holster than buyers of expensive pro-rated gear.

I don't see him going anywhere. It's just not a good look, at all. We also don't know the full story here, as this is completely one sided.

Looking into this lab though, they are really good.

DNA Labs International (DLI), located in Deerfield Beach, Florida.

They have advanced techniques when it comes to touch DNA, and also do IGG analysis.

So maybe the FBI are the ones with the ego...

I’m of the opinion that FBI and Pima Co. have been working different investigations from the start. IMO, Pima Co. and Sheriff Nanos were focused on the family while FBI was focused on an outside entity (past worker, potential ransom writer, etc.)

StM, how do you think this situation will impact the investigation, the return of NG or her body, the identification of the kidnappers or killers, and a possible trial down the road?

I really don't know but I can tell you that agencies get very political and territorial. An elected Sheriff is a political position first and foremost and now we hear he'd had beef w/ the FBI and is holding a possible grudge? That friction and nonsense doesn't help a case that seems cold or has a lot of dead end leads. People say how can this guy be an amateur and not be caught? Well, sometimes it's better to be lucky that good. There's a lot of unique factors in this case that make it harder (dark, secluded neighborhood w/o the amount of surveillance we're used to these days). Basically I think as time goes by and they really don't have anything concrete the blame game comes to play and this stuff boils over, especially with the media scrutiny in national case like this.

Bottom line: I think if push comes to shove the FBI will assert themselves sooner than later and it will help steady the rudder and get the investigation back on track w/o these distractions and that would benefit the investigation/family.

Ill try to dig up the ex-Pima County homicide Det. of 20 years interview (or someone post it) that basically hates his guts and says the reason so many left was him and the avg. homicide Det. left has 2 years experience. Nanos also had an investigation in his last election for putting the guy running against him (another cop) on administrative duty.

I saw this first hand with a lot of buddies during Mayor DeBlasio in NYC. Everyone was retiring to the point the dept.. had to put an actual retirement freeze. And DeBlasio then cut $1B to the NYPD budget and eliminated 2 academy classes. So many guys left. From all I read Tucson seems to have a mini version of that with Nanos.

I don't see this ending well for Nanos, btw, the Feds are going to take over the case now that it has gotten so big and even has many higher ups attention (along w/ the President).

what the FBI is highlighting / questioning in the pics of backpack is 'frontal chest straps' to secure the pack. I had two of these backpacks, when my backpack was too heavy I'd use frontal straps to distribute the weight correctly.

EDIT TO ADD: just realized the longer strap that is highlighted still has the rubber band thats on it when you purchase it... maybe he didn't realize what this was for?

I think you are absolutely right about that being a chest strap that still has the original rubber band on it (IMO). If it's what we are both thinking, the official term for those are "sternum straps". And what do you know, the Walmart listing for the Ozark backpack (which FBI identified as the backpack from the video) has "adjustable sternum strap" listed under the Key Item Features

If NGs phone was at the house, wouldn't Google maps show the timeline of the phone going to AGs then returning? My phone does that.

I was thiking the same. If they are doing phone ping/tracking,and NG took her phone with her wouldn't they know how long she stayed (unless someone else took phone away from her and moved it)

As much as Nanos is getting flack, this discovery doesn't look too good for the FBI either. To miss such an important piece of evidence speaks to incompetence across the board.

Right! If they just found the glove yesterday, it could have been left by any of the investigators who collected evidence before…

It seems pretty sloppy for a criminal to wear a mask, full covered suit, gloves, and then to leave a glove behind. It’s also, certainly possible, though.

Time will tell.

the glove was found early on and sent to a lab and apparently they are now saying it should have gone to FBI.

Following crime for years I've seen plenty of police departments not wanting FBI assisting. The Roden case is one. The sherrif said when asked if he wanted FBI to assist, he said "hell no!" I did a search for "is quantico lab faster than private labs". Here's my answer via google.

That could be why the sherrif's department sent them to FL. Besides FBI sending evidence to the FL lab too. Plus Pima Co. Sheriff's office has a contract with the lab that ends in March of 2026.

Glad to see this- I think everyone is inflating this. Obviously we can't see what's happening on the inside and as a public we feel this entitlement to know everything. Our frustration is pointed at LE as naturally people want to find the hold up. If anyone's been in enlisted in the military it's very easy to understand the thinking of an everyday agent to think leadership is slow or redundant. But reality is not every soldier (agent in this case) may know how it's working at the top of the chain.
