I don’t know why the media is so surprised the family is continuing to maintain the grounds. I would do the same thing, remaining hopeful, that my mom does return home, and her home will be just the way she left it.
NG likely has a landscaper scheduled to come weekly or every other week to maintain her yard. JMO

Walmart has extensive surveillance in their stores, above their cash registers and in their parking lots. Much of Walmart is now self-checkout so I wouldn't anticipate somebody remembering this person.

But, LE could get a warrant for a Walmart to pull up all of their Walmart specific backpack purchases (the one used by the perp), get a date of the purchase, credit card information with their name if they used a credit card and then go through the video from that date of purchase and capture what they look like and get the make and license number of the car they drive.

JMO

Wallmart is already co-operating pulling months of purchases -in store and online- specifically for Ozark trail backpacks, including beyond Tuscon.

Walmart has provided records of all Ozark Trail Hiker online and in-store purchases over the past several months, including sales beyond the Tucson area, to investigators, Nanos told CBS News.

Personally, I don't think an obession with Savannah is the perp's motive because nothing was mentioned in the ransom letter that Nancy was targeted (other than the amount of money demanded) because of Savannah.

I think the burglary turned into a kidnapping theory makes sense due to panic when he realized that this lady was the mother of a well known Today Show host.
Agreed.
And, adding to that; perhaps the perp -- or perps -- already knew this when they broke into Nancy's home ?
I say 'broke into' as I'm not seeing a scenario where she would've opened the door willingly; at least for now ?
Imo.

I just hope all of this information doesn't increase the flight risk.

Same and/or potential harm to Nancy.
Or, if God forbid she is deceased, make it impossible for her body to be recovered if the perp makes sure that it won't be now.

The problem with the Wal-Mart video is you have to have narrowed it down to a time frame OR an electronic receipt in the system where all of this was bought on one ticket.

THEN you can go find the video that corresponds

Good to hear there is a “neighborhood action team” working with their neighbors to try and find useful footage to help.

“A neighborhood action team has also been busy cross-referencing their footage with other neighbors, searching for patterns or useful information to send to the FBI and the Pima County Sheriff's Department. Teamwork between neighbors and the Tucson community is essential in this case.”

Indeed !
Sometimes it seems like this case could break -- based on volunteer/neighbor's assistance ?
No disrespect to sheriff Nanos or any other LE working on Nancy's case, of course.
Omo.

I hope this doesn't drag on for another 20 years with Nancy still missing and Harvey Levin reporting that he just received the 2,126 th note from the people who claim they know the kidnapper and they will tell us but only if we send them money.
Thank you for this moment of levity during such a stressful case.

Scammers Target Families Who Post Missing Persons on Social Media

Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3) | Scammers Target Families Who Post Missing Persons on Social Media

This scenario is not the same as NG but still proves a point about these opportunistic scams. IMO

Criminals Using Altered Proof-of-Life Media to Extort Victims in Virtual Kidnapping for Ransom Scams

This happened when my friend went missing. Thankfully, it was just before the consumer AI boom, so the proof-of-life photos they sent were obviously fake.

But man, the scammers didn't wait more than a few days to pounce.

NOTHING WAS MENTIONED THAT WE WERE TOLD. The entire contents of the ransom notes has never been revealed. jmo
LE doesn't want the public to know what is in the ransom letters, and we really only know what they want us to know. Basically, we know very little and we don't know if what we've been told is calculated to frighten the perp and not necessarily true or if what we've been told is factual information. I suspect it's a little of both. JMO

The family is in no position to bargain. This isn't a flea market. This is their mother's life. They want "proof of life". People in hell want ice water. JMO
Agreed. At this point they're not going to get it. Either Nancy has already passed or whoever has her fears a photo will be able to be tracked. And if God forbid Nancy is dead, don't they still want to know where her remains are and bring the perpetrators to justice? Pay the money. They don't have to make a big show of it or announce it. Do it discreetly and see what happens. Threaten charges on Blabby Levin if he makes it public. If the FBI doesn't get a hit on that DNA they're back to square one. The only way this case will be solved is if someone with knowledge comes forward, and LE is going to have to make that worth their while.

Curious. I realize lots of people go thru their garage vs front door when they come home, but looking at where the driveway is to the front door vs to the garage (having to back out), wouldn't it be more practical (for SIL and her) to have gone thru the front when dropped off? Must have been a normal routine. On the other hand, the opener conveniently made a record of when she was dropped off. Again, there could be a great explaination, but I do question it.

Why are LE still letting people traipse all over a crime scene? Forensics is likely to be the key to solving this case, and another set of foot prints and DNA is just going to muddy the water, surely?

Yeah, unfortunate considering that even Nanos said in an interview that he regrets opening the scene early and should have worked with the family about requesting to keep police tape up longer, etc.

But that scene has been cooked now. It jumped the shark with the oblivious pizza delivery guy walking right up to the front door , past investigators, trying to deliver a podcasters order.

All good points and possibilities. I agree with the dynamic you describe south of the border. I also agree with your conclusions stemming from that.

My main contention with the footage that was published is why did the masked man on the Nest cam go to the front door with such purpose? He didn't seem to be aware of the camera so it wasn't to just disable it and the front door was in a mostly enclosed, secluded brick vestibule. Many other first story entry options including a side door to the garage with an easily breakable pane window on it. No need to go to the front door there unless he wanted to go to the door itself. It had a welded security door with a deadbolt and he went for that hard access point displaying what appears to be a firearm, which I believe was for intimidation and coercion (I was confused by his holster and carry choice, why not conceal carry and use the sidearm when necessary?).

As far as we know the security door was not breached or damaged and the decorative windows on either side were not broken (common vulnerability to reach in to open single cylinder deadbolt, takes a few seconds to gain entrance to most homes, in NG's set back secluded home the sound of the glass breaking would be negligible). Either the front door was unlocked, he had a key, lock pick, or he used coercion to enter the home;

....banged on the door with a ruse --cam was disabled at that point--a startled elderly lady finally checks and opens the door - not my PERSEC but it happens- and he brandishes the gun and she complies, maybe a struggle ensues out of the door or he hits her to show her he means business and underestimates the blow to a medically compromised 84 year old - criminals aren't smart....

The latest I've read in reports is that investigators have not confirmed any signs of forced entry (if someone can link something to the contrary I would be grateful).
IMO, the front door was made ready for a speedy escape. It’s the only exit that has the fastest direct route to the road. IMO entrance was not made by the front door (either NG opening it or otherwise).

That is very astute. Not even the brother has posted anything since then. I wonder if they are just too distraught, or if that suggests something else is happening.
I think it might be a simple explanation in that SG has professional expertise in communication and is comfortable being in the public eye, and the other two sibs are deferring to SG's expertise and comfort being in the public. The other two sibs may prefer to be more private.

It also could be likely that the FBI experts in hostage negotiation and kidnapping are recommending that only one of the siblings is the face and communicator with the perp. And, I think they might recommend that SG be the communicator because of her professional expertise.

At some point crime scenes are released back to the owner. They don't hold the scene until the crime is solved. They likely have pictures of the entire area(s) and feel they have exhaustively physically searched what is available to search there. IMO

Exactly what I think. They only used the front door as a speedy escape and they needed the nest cam totally disabled so the perps wouldn't be seen, NG's condition wouldn't be known and their vehicle wouldn't be seen. JMO
