I feel kind of dumb about this, but how do you tell when land is public land? In my state, there is alot of empty, unmarked land that is actually owned by someone. Thanks!
A lot of area there is BLM land, so look on their website:

Not if LE still has the auto.
Good point. I guess it depends on whether this ends in an arrest or the return of the vehicle and the clearing of names.

So many theories out there, all with merit, leave me more stumped than I was in the beginning! I feel, short of a confession, that the only way we can learn what happened is if NG's remains are found reasonably soon. DNA?, cause of death?.....but even then, the whole story is elusive. Very sad for the family, who at the very least, need to have her remains. JMO

I encourage you and anyone else thinking another lab would be better than where the dna is to please listen to CeCe Moore, the pioneer of IGG explain why the choice of the lab, DNA labs International, in Deerfield Florida is a great one. She has even used them to extract samples. Listen at 21:15 for the below.

I’ll quote her, (BBM) “I don’t want to advocate for Parabon, but I would say Parabon’s bioinformatic scientists are specialists in mixture deconvolution. It’s something that they are especially good at. A lot of my successful cases have been. But, again even for them, it’s going to come down to the proportions and the number. So, I don’t know, I haven’t worked with DNA International labs deconvolution because we have such good bioinformatics at Parabon. So, I don’t wanna say they are better than theirs, I don’t know. But, I believe very strongly in this lab. I’ve worked with them. They’re great at extracting DNA. Parabon doesn’t do extractions so we’ve had them extract the DNA from the evidence on a lot of our successful cases that I’ve been able to go on and help law-enforcement solve. And, so I know how good they are on really difficult samples. I’ve been saying all week I have full confidence in them, and I actually think the sheriff made a great choice because they’re kind of a one stop shop. They can do the extraction, they can create the STR profile, which is the one uploaded to CODIS, and they can create the SNIP profile that’s used for genetic genealogy. all of those in parallel. …….So, he saved time.”

She goes on to say, FBI DOESN’T HAVE THE ABILITY TO CREATE A SNIP PROFILE. THEY ALWAYS SEND THAT OUT. IT’S ALWAYS A 3rd party lab.

Just in case you didn't listen to this podcast. Cece Moore w/ Parabon is Ashleigh's guest and really explains the blood evidence and states that Nanos made a great choice in the lab because the lab can do all types of analysis, unlike the FBI's lab. Really important listen. She states the first person to make a statement against his choice owned a competing lab.

Also, Ashleigh states that a source told her the blood pattern outside was the same inside.

Re the DNA from the house mixed sample, since this is our best hope RN, IMO. I hope the FL lab can separate. Maybe since there is extra DNA, send to FBI lab, or Othram in TX.

I ANSWERED IT! SHE WAS A TROPHY IN MANY DIFFERENT ASPECTS FOR MY DELUSIONAL, UNHINGED LOVESICK STALKER. He gets SG's attention. That primary for someone who fashions himself as a suitable love interest for SG if only she would take a look. He probably has an SG altar in his home. A little area dedicated to SG. Photos, news clips etc. He invites SG in every day via the Today show. He has admired her from afar, perhaps shyly and tentatively.

Ever read your daily horoscope? Ever think, WOW! That was sure accurate and aimed at the day I had today? Ok, well, he watches SG daily. Slowly, he thinks she is communicating with him, covertly. He's unstable but secure that they have a mutual connection. MOO

He methodically plans yo kidnap NG. While there, he takes a couple of souvenirs. Probably nothing they would notice missing. A pair of panties or lingerie from SG's bedroom she left in a drawer in the bedroom as a young adult, for example. he may have taken a random SG photo or smashed a photo. I have always maintained that video SG put out that was from her youth and was of a very young NG with very young SG and AG was beyond odd. NO one has said much about it. That was not just about grieving. That was a message to the perp. Here ya go. A window into my /our youth. JMO MOO
If this was the case wouldn't he be reaching out to SG? Capturing her mom is one thing but his desire and obsession with SG is so strong. SG being quiet and private in this matter. She hasn't been on the today show in weeks. So he can't invite SG into is daily life. Maybe he rewatches her instagram videos. This would only fuel his obsession for so long- he'd need more. So maybe he sends letters. But going silent after kidnapping her mom wouldn't match this MO.

Look at a map. Not to be flippant. public lands are state parks, US parks, city parks and some BLM lands. (Not all parks are publicly owned though. Some are private.) There is very little public land in comparison to privately owned. You can also look at county tax assessor maps which show who owns all the parcels. All that desert out there? Privately owned.
Thank you. No flippancy taken. :) That's kind of what I expected. So, in this case, any place that private volunteer searchers could legally search are outside the distance bodies are statistically moved after a crime. MOO

I’m really disgusted by how badly the police have messed up this investigation.

I also think that the sheriff probably sent those samples before the FBI was officially involved.

MOO, While unlikely and total speculation on my part, There’s a flip side to this stalker angle. Could it be that NG is actually the object of his delusion? Maybe he thinks NG is HIS mother. Maybe a revenge fantasy directed towards her children because he believes they’ve kept him separated from her, in his mind, HIS mother, and they got what he never had and always wanted?...

Yes. Someone asked if sexual assault would leave DNA off body. Well it likely would. But his backpack appears to contain tarps.
One goes under the victim.

This was so preventable. For example, she was just one loved German shepherd away from safety…
Ummmm, this was so preventable if the perp had never done it in the first place! Your logic as stated above is just another way of saying it's an individual's responsibility to protect oneself instead of society putting the blame where it belongs -- on the perpetrator of crime! That is a very callous comment and blames the victim unfortunately.

I think your theory of a sidekick is interesting. I remember reading an article saying that there would be a lot more success in apprehending serial killers/rapists if there was more research and time spent on what makes a good sidekick.

What makes a good sidekick in this case?

interesting theory- i find this one unlikely because both raids we saw targeted a 30 year old (ish) man living with a mother/woman. So i think it's more likely that if it was a stalker- he is incapable of natural romance and still lives with his mom.

To piggy back on this, and not to be flippant or overly critical either, think about a crime like Delphi. Family and authorities knew the girls were most likely in a specific location, and could commence evidence-based searches from there. In this instance, the victim was removed from the initial crime scene and could literally be anywhere from Mexico to Maine. Searches may make some people feel as if they are helping, but they may ultimately be putting themselves in danger which could then take LE resources to address. And to what reasonable end—to make guesses about where one person might be on literally hundreds of thousands of square miles of land? Help can be a hindrance when guided only by good intentions. None of this is meant to discourage engagement but more to make a cautionary point. There may be other cases where searches would be more useful. Of course, people are certainly free to make their own choices, but one might reasonably ask if their choices are governed by their own needs rather than the public good. All in my opinion and with respect.

Sadly, I've been thinking about this for the past week. After seeing SG's public statement a week ago, I could no longer hold onto hope that NG might still be alive. I have no way of knowing how SG and/or her siblings feel at this juncture, but I saw great pain and sadness in SG's eyes and heard it in her voice. Perhaps the siblings have reached a point where they no longer believe that they will ever see their mother alive again. In that case, they would want her remains so that NG can be laid to rest and the family can have some degree of peace and closure. I hope and pray that citizen searches will be helpful in locating Mrs. Guthrie.

What makes your say the backpack appears to contain tarps?
Agreed...it could have contained anything. We don't know the motive for this 'event' so anything is conjecture at this point

Her point about where this bad press originated should be the lens we look through when evaluating any information and this case has made that very evident.

Just about everything is conjecture at this point. We don't even know if every "report" is factual.

One possibility, based on speculation, and what has been seen in other cases is that the backpack was his "kit". Usually someone who is going to conduct a planned abduction has what is called a "kit" an assembly of tools for that purpose. It may and in many cases in the past has included items such as; duct tape, zip ties, plastic sheathing, tarp, rope, chloroform, etc. etc.

If he was a burglar it could have included tools. It could be a change of clothing. It could be a number of things. We do not definitely know the motive of the Masked Latanas guy and what he actually did.

Has anybody provided a reasonable explanation for why porch guy would exit the house or not enter then open the front door from inside if he had already gained access or any accomplice had when removing the camera?
