Found Deceased NC - Heather Marie Williams, 25, limited speech and use of arm & leg, got into a car with an unknown person, Fayetteville, 4 Jan 2025 *Arrest*

Can't help but wonder if the driver who hit her has any idea of the harm they've done....
If it was simply an accident and the driver wasn’t impaired, distracted, reckless, etc and they stayed on scene and rendered aid, etc, then I hope that, if they are aware of the current tragedy, they can find some sort of peace and the belief and understanding that although they may have (or not have, since I don’t know the circumstances of when Heather was hit by a car) had some responsibility to THAT accident they are NOT responsible for Heather’s murder - only the EVIL MONSTER that killed her is responsible for that.

But if the driver in Heather’s original accident was culpable, responsible, did not render aid, etc, then I agree with you and I hope they understand and feel the impact their actions have had.

I am so disheartened to read the update that Heather was found dead. My heart goes out to her loved ones. I have my own ideas about what has happened here but will refrain from speculating until LE gives me reason to do so. I will simply say I hope that justice is swift.

I have to say that this is just about the saddest story I’ve followed here on WS.

When I read that she was found deceased my stomach actually lurched and then sank.

This poor girl. Absolutely devastating.

Can someone explain why the marriage licence is from SC when they are both from NC, and why it seems signed by the same person (for him and her, same handwriting).
I don’t know if anyone replied to this yet but it is very common for people in NC to go down to Dillon, SC to get married because you can go down and get married right away same day. I’m guessing that is likely what happened in this case.

On Saturday, police said detectives on Friday were led to a wooded area near Newark Ave. and State Ave. where Williams was found dead.

led by whom or what? by the individual who picked her up in that car? by GPS obtained from that car? Who was the car's owner? Lots of questions. Sounds like LE is way ahead of us. Looking forward to knowing what they know.

Right? Seems like a big secret.

Woman found murdered after getting into someone's car was considered 'endangered': Police

confirms through sister interview that Heather's car accident was in 2015 and other details of her challenges post accident. Seems the family thought the person who picked her up may be someone she met online. I am curious as to the results of the phone call traced that was made days before her going missing.

general directions from area last seen to area body found

location of body based on some images from MSM? (appears to be wooded area between RR tracks and baseball diamond just south of the Newark Ave. apartments

Williams says her family worried when Heather would meet with people she connected with online. They say they believe that's what she was likely doing in the surveillance footage.

Was is this something that she regularly did? And if so, do we know why?

I thought this case would move much quicker once they found the car and located her body - but still there seems to be no arrest.

I’m guessing the police pretty much know who did it as they haven’t released the cars registration or more detailed pictures of the car as far as I’m aware - I presume they are just struggling to locate him and don’t want to ‘spook’ him by putting his name out there.

It’s just such a sad case - this poor woman and her family have been through so much

I don't know the answer, but something to consider, jmo

Finally there is some national coverage on this case, although it is too late for Heather. Nothing new here. Story say police do not have a person of interest--which is different from other accounts I have seen. From the NY Post:

Mary told WRAL that the family did not know the person driving the vehicle and speculated that Williams — who suffered cognitive impairment and had limited speech and limited use of her right leg and right arm after she was struck by a car in 2015 — may have met the individual online.

Police describe the car as a “light-colored sedan with a sunroof.”4

"She was just so trusting and naive to what the dangers were out there," Williams said.

"She just loved life, you know, was fearless and loved to be with family," Williams said. "And she had a love for God that never wavered."

However, the 25-year-old’s body was found by police officers in a wooded area around 5 p.m. Friday, about 5 miles from where she was last seen alive, the department said in a statement Saturday.

video interview with sister, Mary
https://www.cbs17.com/news/local-ne...eads-for-someone-to-come-forward-in-the-case/

Her heartbroken sister shared that her sister, who was a talented softball player, was a junior in high school when she was hit by a car when she was walking on a road in October 2015 and nearly died.

Despite her sister's cognitive disabilities she said her sister just wanted to be a 'normal 25-year-old.'

'We tried to protect her and keep her safe but at the end of the day she was 25 and wanted to do what 25-year-olds were doing.'
Haunting Ring footage captures final moments of woman found murdered

her family initiated the guardianship action just weeks before Heather went missing. It was their hope to get her admitted to a residential facility where she could continue to rehab and hopefully meet peers who were facing similar struggles.

Per the DM article just above, the family has been told the identity of the individual who picked Heather up that night but the family cannot speak of it as they have no wish to hamper investigation. Mary did divulge that Heather's body was nude when found so the possiblity of sexual assault is high although LE has not confirmed SA to the family one way or another.

I don’t understand how there’s not more traction on this. This is such a horribly sad case and we are at nine pages. I keep coming back here to see what’s going on. I could just cry for her.
I suspect there is plenty going on that isn’t being reported just yet. I hope that police are dotting i’s and crossing t’s for the indictment. “Someone led them to” where she was dumped. That says everything to me. I just want to see the perp walk and hope to be here for justice for her.

Maybe the car was a rental that had GPS that led them to the area where she was found. The person who rented it could be from out of town, especially if she met him online. Perhaps he used a false identity for the rental , or police know who it is, but they are in hiding.
