if one is shooting at someone they generally face the person right befre they pull the trigger generally speajing moo

Why would someone exit their vehicle with a gun and refuse to drop it when instructed to do so by the police? What do you think he was planning on doing with it?

Police have not said how much of Scott's criminal history they knew before the shooting, but Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Chief Kerr Putney said in a news conference Saturday that officers knew it was unlawful for Scott to possess a gun.

Officers knew before the shooting that he was in illegal possession of a gun.

Thank you K_Z for your well written post above and addressing the real issue here, the police were lied to by Keith Scott's wife!

We need to be able to address the real issue here. In many of these cases involving the police, lies are told by the family of the person who was shot. We can all see it and hear it just as the gun was claimed to be a book. Yet a book was not found, however, a gun was found with Keith Scott's fingerprints on it.

Due to the lies that were told, look what Charlotte has suffered. When will people learn to stop lying? The truth in most cases will be discovered, so why start off by telling a lie?

<modsnip>

I ask the same question of law enforcement. They tell us lies and later we see the tapes or read the reports and learn the truth. Look how many times we've caught them lying to us about shooting civilians. If they want us to trust them they need to gain our trust and the quickest and easiest way they could do that right now is to start off with the truth immediately, and STOP LYING. They work for US. Turn on your bodycams, stop shooting innocent people, and own up to it when you do.

I think having a gun in ones hand is legal. If there were any video of him raising his arm to fire different story . If you freeze the frame right before the murdered him both his arms are totaaly down and by his side. Just freeze the video

It was illegal for him to possess the weapon. That's how they will get away with this shooting, imo. He had it and he wasn't allowed to have it so they were allowed to kill him.

Why would someone exit their vehicle with a gun and refuse to drop it when instructed to do so by the police? What do you think he was planning on doing with it?

And remember, in the pictures, the gun was loaded, the safety was off, and the hammer was cocked. Ready for immediate use.

 • #67
He had no business being in possession of a gun in the first place. For him it was not legal. And anyone who has a gun in their hand better drop it if the police tell them to or they would be extremely lucky if they DIDN'T get shot.

if the indiv has the capacity to process the command.. His impaiment seriuos so we dont knoe if 4 people moving all over all yelling cussing shouting his wife yelling might impede his ability to respnd to all the chaos the cops were generating

I have not seen any media reports about a hosptial visit after this stabbing, and degree of injuries . Did these result in arrests? What were the charges? In most instances when people are stab other people there is an arrest -

AMy media followup regarding how soon dept of children and families opened up a file , and began requiring classes for parents, children see therapists via court orders .When parents are bopping children across there heads, a lot of stuff begins?

ANy info regarding these alledged "allegations"?

????

Alleged accusations? Are you implying his wife was not being truthful?

And? Are the cops supposed to assume that he does not plan to shoot them?

Maybe the impairment would cause him to act irrationally and violently...what then?

Personally, I'm not sure how anyone believes he had time to even react to the demands of officers. It was a matter of a couple seconds from the time he exited to when he was down. 2-3 maybe. How fast can anyone react if they're confused, possibly have slow reaction time due to TBI, and being screamed at from multiple directions?

The way I took the article was as an updated news article giving the latest information on KS.

Did anyone notice it says he is the son of the late Detective Robert Scott Sr.? http://abcnews4.com/news/local/keith-lamont-scott-will-have-a-charleston-area-funeral . I take that to be he was in LE. Have we heard anything from his mother and I missed it?

The interview with the mom is at the link. She says he called her at 2:22 on the day he was killed. They played the voicemail and it sounds like he said his name.

http://www.waff.com/story/33164118/mother-says-keith-lamont-scott-called-her-on-day-of-shooting

I feel bad for the mom.

Experts believe that he may have become confused with police demands

eith Scott’s 'Traumatic Brain Injury' could have meant he did not understand the commands police were giving him moments before they shot him dead.
Experts told DailyMail.com that Scott’s impairment meant he may have been unable to process what was happening as police surrounded his car with their guns drawn.
The father-of-seven could have decided to ‘act out’ because he did not know how to cope with the situation.

IMO none of that has to do with anything ...........the only thing that matters here, IMO, is what transpired in the last 22 seconds of him being alive...

People do bad things.............the issue here are we talking about another incident of LE murdering folks cause they have a badge.............

The skin color of the officer is IMO another thing that media has dragged into this ...........irrelvant as well IMO

The issues here are

Why has media ignored why was LE messing with a human being sitting in a car , with a joint, big deal, he had medical issues and society has proved it has medcial values - but that too is irreleavant

Why did LE confuse who they were there for , cause they were looking for a black man ?

6.2 million folks that are not supposed to have guns do.....................

His criminal history has nothing to do with the big picture problem we have with LE and minorties - that is a huge social issue.........

..the media throwing all this other stuff into the narrative...derails the conversation that needs to be addressed .......................

Why is he dead -----------that is the question............the only one............. moo

" the only thing that matters here, IMO, is what transpired in the last 22 seconds of him being alive..."

Sorry, but respectfully I have to totally disagree with that ^^ statement. It is not all about that 22 seconds. Not at all...

It is all about the previous years and previous bad choices.

If he was not a convicted felon, then it would not be such an urgent, desperate situation that he was in when the cops tried to detain him. If it weren't for some previous issues, then having a joint would not be a big deal at all. Nor would having a gun in his parked car. It would be dealt with, plead out in smaller charges or dropped all together...

But because of many previous poor choices, he was now faced with a desperate situation. He was looking at doing some prison time because of an illegal stolen weapon and drug possession and it amped up the situation to a heightened degree.

It was not just about the previous 22 seconds. If it was, then he could have just laid down the weapon from the start of the whole thing.

You ask 'why is he dead?' I say it is because of years of making poor decisions--- Going up right to that very day. When he decides to meet his 9 yr old son after school, he decided to smoke a blunt in the car at the school bus stop. Very poor decision, on many levels. Then decides to put on his ankle holster and take a loaded stolen weapon along with him. Another very poor decision.
I could go on, but you get the idea. These choices were not made in that brief 22 second span. They built up to that perfect storm. But you cannot detach his previous life choices from his final moments because it all fits together in a tragic ending.

So the question, 'why is he dead', has several layers . But mostly it is because he made some very dangerous decisions which set up a desperate and volatile situation.

We cant even understand what is going on in the videos!!

Our skulls have not been mauled from slamming down on an expressway! Some outlets had to put the words up on the screen for people that were not actually stadning there in the heatm with a bunch of cops cussing and yelling and pointing their guns at the poor guy --- changes the pic a bit no?

The footage of Scott’s death from a police car dash cam shows him walking backwards with his hands by his side when he was shot dead.

problems following commands, he could have problems with judgement, with sequencing and planning.

he might have wanted to get out the car and may not have been able to figure out that he has to open the door first.

‘She says that he has a Traumatic Brain injury and they choose to escalate the situation rather than listening to her and getting her to intervene. In my opinion Mr Scott did not need to be killed. That situation did not have to end that way’.

allowed Scott to talk her husband down and defuse the situation rather than opening fire.

It does not matter if he was able to process the info or not. He had a loaded, cocked weapon. That is all the cops needed to know. It is very sad if he died because he did not understand the meaning of the words " Drop the freakin GUN!' But given that he was in a car, with a weapon, at a school bus stop, the police had to intervene.

Since he was picking up an 8 yr old, I assume he had some mental proficiency in order to be a caretaker.

This isn't minority report, we don't execute based on what someone might do.

Actually, we do. If someone poses a deadly threat, and refuses to comply, they can be shot because of the threat they pose.

Thank you. The difference is so much easier with a visual. Guy with a gun who isn't a threat vs. Guy with a gun who wants to shoot you.

His brain functioning is not like ours. Its like asking an ambutee to go get a gold medal!!

He complied, to the best of his ability. He got out of the car - it took him time to process- two different demands were being screamed at him by 4 different officers and voices from 4 locations

When we had to do take downs a cardinal rule was only one person talks - it confuses them, it is to much stimuli -- this is way different than that but the notions of overstimuli and confusion are the same concerns

The autistic (again different enties) but can give on an idea of how the brain, when not working well is serious stuff. The child continued to play around with his truck - confused by everything

This is more organic stuff my notion here is the brain is not processing like most
