The problem is with her being gone a year now, if she's alive, she could be anywhere. I think it would be hard to search locally unless they believe she is dead and they are looking for a body.

In my haste, I actually read your post title as "NEW leads..." instead of "NO leads...". Wishful thinking I suppose.

NH is still the key to this case in my view, reading the text from Kelly at 12:46 indicating she was trying to get out ASAP while being driven home by NH seals the deal for me.

Further, the next text coming in at 1:24 indicating to the friend not to call until the next day is odd and seems out of place.

Especially considering the prior text and corresponding company.

Context matters in everything and under analysis, the circumstances, company and isolated situation speak volumes in this case.

The bar was minutes from her apartment, the long time delay in the follow up text and lack of urgency in language as juxtaposed to the initial text, gives one great pause.

Coupled with the troubling past and nature of NH, this is problematic at best.

In addition, it would be foolish to assume all sex offenders constantly offend, they apparently have dormant periods of mental fantasy just like serial killers.

The real question is: how is LE going to solve this crime as time moves forward?

I just pray for Kelli and her family that resolution will indeed be soon!

A psychologist that teaches us says that everything they do, everything they think about is about sex or whatever specific deviance they have. Maybe there are periods they don't get caught or periods where they don't act on their thoughts. But it is always there, always. Maybe a girl alone with him was just too much to restrain.

But like was said, where does LE go from here? Hope that NH or whoever slips up? It's doubtful they are going to get any new information from a witness of any sort if they haven't come forward by now. I suppose if someone finds Kelli some day, there may be some evidence found that can point towards the killer. Beyond finding Kelli or the perp slipping up, I just don't know what else can be done at this point.:banghead:

Been thinking about possibilities, thinking back to before KB went missing, there was a rape in that area, right near the bar. Wondering if that ever was solved? Could it have been NH? This is out there, but it was a soldier who had been raped, any chance it could have been Kelli? Then later on while she is out she realizes it was him? I wonder how thorough the search of his camp site was? Also, from viewing the footage on tv, NH looks very clean, so where does he go to get cleaned up if he is homeless and living in his car/woods?
She could have made it into the house and MB was there in the house? Was her phone passcode protected? NH could have been watching her to get the code or MB could have known the code to send the final text that was believe not to be sent by her. OR he could be waiting on the porch and say let's go for a ride, let's talk?

Except I keep thinking about the photo she sent out to "Justin" before going out Friday night. My understanding is limited but I keep hearing
(on TV) that someone can track your exact location through a photo if you don't have the security settings set right. I'm not sure if that means Twitter or Instagram or what ways of transmitting are involved. We don't know the specifics of that photo. Is it possible others could see it?

Oh and FB too. Friends of friends, who may not be real friends, can see what you do and someone may not know they're paying attention to you specifically. Is this right? I'm brainstorming about calculated efforts here but don't know what is or isn't possible.

Social media avenues could be exposing women to becoming targets.

Clearly you have misread my perspective, offenders always have this compulsion in the interior disposition but they obviously have dormant periods in terms of acting out on said fantasies.

It is contradictory to say that they do not have dormant periods in practice and at the same time hold that they do not act on what they fantasize about.

My point actually was that they indeed never cease to fantasize but they may have dormant periods of acting said fantasies out with frequency.

If offenders were constantly living out their interior fantastical dispositions as presupposed in this reply, they would probably be caught much quicker due to the destructive nature of acting out their compulsions in daily life.

The force of my point is illustrated by indicating that perhaps the circumstances that night allowed for the horrific synergism between fantasy and acting it out.

My crystal ball never works - dang it!
BUT if a young person did whatever they did to Kelli, they will be/should be looking over their shoulder the rest of their own sorry life. Cases are solved sometimes years, even decades, down the road. Someone eventually comes forward with more information or a cold case detective is able to uncover a clue nobody else paid any attention too. I pray the stars line up and I'm still here to see this happen.

Not necessarily - a body can be well hidden. By now whatever remains there are would only be bones. What if someone actually buried Kelli's body? What if she's buried on private property? The person who did this had two full days before Kelli was expected anywhere, knew she was living alone and knew enough to send a text out to someone asking them to catch her later. Apparently the text went to a friend and not to her husband, sister or mother. That's a little strange if you ask me. This fact sticks in my craw.

my thought was because the perp didn't know who was who so he just sent a text to the last person she was texting with figuring that would be the first person to notice something amiss.
