Well my reason would be the bad publicity of having someone leave my
establishment and disappear and have someone I know helping in the bar may be responsible.
I guess people feel differently about it but I can tell you I would never
enter that bar; ever!!!!!
I get your point, but I just can't believe that a person not involved in Kelli's disappearance would deliberately mislead or cover for the sake of the bar's reputation, rather than help with the investigation of a missing young woman, KWIM?
Besides, that would involve getting all bar patrons to agree on the same story, wouldn't it? If one guy says, "I think I saw Nick back about 10 minutes later," and 5 other patrons say, "I didn't see him then," - well, that would be a big issue right there, wouldn't it?
Even though we read news and posts about awful people, I still believe in the basic decency and goodness of most people. I'll guess that most of the people associated with Froggy's are much more concerned about Kelli's welfare than they are about the reputation of the local watering hole.
Respectfully, I think you're adding a layer of possible complexity that doesn't likely exist. More likely that people have been very honest and shared everything they recall about that night - except Nick Holbert.
