Why did Stroupe not steal one of the accomplice's vehicles, or at the very least make the accomplices follow him in the Ridge Runner? That truck stuck out like a sore thumb. Nothing that guy did makes any sense.

Well one of his charges was Meth. Perhaps he was using while on the run?

(I also couldn't stop thinking why didn't he take one of their cars-- he could have abandoned the truck anywhere along the road or pushed it down a ravine or something. Then I got to thinking about what kind of evidence there might be in Mr Bryson's truck that made Stroupe want to destroy it. :furious:)

District Attorney Greg Newman said Monday he offered no deal to spare Phillip Michael Stroupe II's life if he led investigators to 68-year-old Thomas Bryson's body because he didn't deserve the offer.

I am ECSTATIC to see this news!!!

Bryson's body was found by a relative who is a firefighter and knew details of the search. The relative found the body in a different area than where officials had been looking, and believes he was led to the site by "divine intervention," McDonald said.

HENDERSON COUNTY, N.C. (WLOS) — The Henderson County Sheriff's Office released new photos of the stolen truck they say Phillip Stroupe II was driving at the time of his arrest.
The photos confirm new information from Buncombe County warrants that the bottom half of Thomas Bryson's silver 2007 Honda Ridgeline truck "had been recently spray painted black" when Stroupe was arrested while in possession of the truck on Thursday, July 27.
Warrants also said while conducting a follow-up investigation in Barnardsville at the home of Jennifer Hawkins, detectives found black spray paint "consistent in appearance with the black colored paint discovered on Bryson's vehicle at the time of Stroupe's arrest".
A representative of the Henderson County Sheriff's Office issued a news release Wednesday asking anyone in eastern Tennessee or western North Carolina who may have seen the Ridgeline in its altered state to contact the Henderson County Sheriff’s Office at 828-697-4911.

The release stated Bryson's truck had "a West Henderson Falcons tag on the front and a West Henderson magnet on the back of the vehicle."

"Businesses in Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge, Sevierville, and Dandridge, TN as well as Western NC" are being urged by the Henderson County Sheriff's Office "to check their security cameras for information."

[h=1]Hundreds turn out to remember the life of Tommy Bryson[/h]
HENDERSON COUNTY, N.C. (WLOS) — South Mills River Road was lined with hundreds of people holding candles and flashlights Wednesday night while yellow balloons swayed in the air along with signs reading "Shine Your Light for The Brysons."

Several fire trucks with extended ladders added their flashing lights while the crowd gathered to honor Tommy Bryson and his family. Chinese lanterns were also sent into the night sky.

"I knew him real well," said Amy Pierce. "To a lot of us, he was like a father figure, and he was like a grandpa to a lot of us."

[h=1]News 13 Exclusive: Bryson's wife, sons discuss forgiveness in wake of murder[/h]
MILLS RIVER, N.C. (WLOS) — Tommy Bryson's family members still have many questions in the wake of his death, but they aren't wavering in their faith.

"I have never, since the very beginning, felt hate for Mr. Stroupe," Lynn Bryson, Tommy's wife, told News 13.

A family that relied on strong Christian faith during the search for Tommy is now demonstrating it. That's especially true when referring to accused killer, Phillip Michael Stroupe II.

"We definitely pray for Mr. Stroupe, that God can touch his soul," son Joey Bryson said.
"I don't want to keep hate in my heart because that leads to bad things," son Rick Bryson added.

Guess who's house burned down ("was fully engulfed") last night while they were all in jail? The three accomplices' house!

http://wlos.com/news/local/fire-at-home-of-suspects-charged-in-stroupe-case
The Buncombe County Sheriff's Office spokesperson confirms the flames broke out at 4 Rocky Lane in Barnardsville, the home of Frederick Badgero Jr., Jennifer Hawkins, and Larry Hawkins III.

Few details are known about the fire. We know it was dispatched out at 11:28 P.M. Thursday night and was fully engulfed. The Buncombe County Sheriff's office, Barndarsville Fire Department, Reems Creek Fire Department and Weaverville Fire Department were all on scene.

Authorities say the Asheville-Buncombe Arson task force is investigating the fire.

 Hope the Arson Task Force can figure out who set it!

Are we thinking evidence destruction or are we thinking retribution?

Drug dealers... hmmm... Maybe this was a meth lab that went up?

I was thinking the exact thing! That would make a lot of sense as to WHY Stroupe would have went to their home. JMO! :)

Makes perfect sense to me. Arson investigators should be able to tell if there was Meth there even after a fire, I think.

Fairly certain they can tell even if everything has been demolished. I only say that because I've seen too many news stories where Meth Labs blew up & cause of fire was always determined even with so little evidence remaining!!
