NC vs. Raven Abaroa ~ the Trial

Hi gracielee. Is the McNeill trial being broadcast also? Just curious. I'm trying to keep my head buried in the sand about that case. It's unbearable to think about for me.

No, unfortunately no cameras in the McNeill courtroom. Only tweets at breaks. It's easier for me to follow if I can listen, like this one. I don't *do* tweets. I want justice for Shaniya so badly. It is unbearable, but I want McNeill and *momma* to pay. :banghead:

Is it possible Janet would testify against Raven on the embezzlement charge? Could that have been *part* of his motive? Or had that guilt already been established at the time of her murder?

hi gracie.....haven't posted much since jason young. sure hope raven joins him soon!!

I haven't done much background research on this case, so please excuse the questions. Is the state's theory that Raven killed Janet before or after his soccer game?

Before would leave their son alone that entire time....

Me too, llvr. What is it with this area anyway? Is there something in the water? Pretty soon all the wife-killers will have enough members for some sort of prison team. :jail: I believe the Young case was my last too. Busy in real life, and now so many upcoming and current trials ongoing. Going to have to figure out a way to fit everything in. I've also been trying to find some info about Teghan Skiba, the little girl murdered on the guys grandparents property here in Johnston, Co.

I do not know my friend. Hopefully someone will enlighten us both :)

I think it's *before*, but I may be wrong on that.

What a prince he is! With all the supposed robberies, break-ins, in the neighborhood, he went off a left his wife & baby, alone, at night, without locking the doors.

Durham has got a higher-than-average crime rate in comparison to the overall rates for NC. Like so many cities, however, certain neighborhoods are safer than others. Ferrand Drive statistically is in a safe area: Spring Valley/Huckleberry Spring.

I don't know. I haven't followed this case (nor do I recall it occurring in 2005).

But I found it odd that the prosecutor did not present a theory during his opening. He only told the jury what its duty was. What was up with that? Did he just get the case and didn't have time to prep?

I hate being critical, especially so early in the trial. But I was very surprised by his short and content-less opening statement

Thank the Gods for this. I deem it unnecessary.

I want to see what the jury sees. I've seen some bad ones (the Tate/LaBianca pics of the scenes at the house & the autopsy photos, and the Jeffrey MacDonald scene pics & autopsy photos (this was a federal case). I think they should be shown with a BIG warning that graphic photos are to be shown next, for example, but I think the taxpayers should be able to see them (we're paying for them, after all).

If you want to see autopsy photos for NC cases (not Federal cases in NC), the only way you can do that is to make an appt. with the NC Chief ME and go to the Chief ME's office in Chapel Hill, NC, and view the pics with a ME office asst -- no pics of the pics may be taken or copied, etc.

Anyone can request a copy of ME's autopsy report, but it will NOT include the photos. The ME's drawings, yes, but no pics. That is a NC Statute of Law.

That's why the media has to be so very careful in the courtroom -- it's the law.

I *did* like the part he did tell them. That they need to be alert to "pieces of the puzzle" - warning them, in essence, to keep track of the small, but important bits of testimony. But like you, I was disappointed he gave them no where to hang their hat. No theory of the case whatsoever.
There must be a good reason for that we just aren't aware of. (I'm looking at the half *full* glass - lol)

Who has custody of Kaiden? Anyone know?? TIA.
Was there a gag order of some kind in this case? There are very few news articles that have any actual information. They simply repeat the few sentences over and over

Even taking into account the amount of time that has passed since the murder, the trial is on NOW, and I would expect more information in the public view.
Is there a site we are able to read the court minutes, and the legal history of this case as we are in the Arias case?

They were tight-lipped and released little info from the get-go. Interesting.

I guess they are still at lunch? No live feed at the moment.

I just got some live audio....they must be getting ready to get going again from their lunch break.
