I think we are going to find out there was evidence of violence in the home and other strong evidence Josh did her in.

I also think we will find out about some big mistakes made and how WVPD put a lot of other people in serious danger.

Let's sue Josh Powell's estate, the Judge who allowed the visitation to continue even though he was not following through with moving out and going to therapy and for not allowing the Coxes' attorney to view the photos from Utah; West Valley police for not warning the State of Washington about what they found on Josh's computer in a timely manner; Washington State CPS for not thoroughly investigating Josh's new home where they would have discovered he was not truly living there, and for allowing Josh to visit the boys in that fake house, and not telling the Coxes they were doing so; the psychologist who, even with overwhelming evidence of Josh's dangerous tenancies, still recommended the boys have regular visitations.

That is a good start. I'm sure I will think of more later.

On an unrelated note, I saw on the local news a couple days ago that Ann Rule had been preparing to write a book about this case, but has stopped work on it now that the boys have been murdered. It seems she won't write books that involved children dying anymore. It is too upsetting for her. I am majorly bummed because she is my favorite true crime author. I sure wish she would reconsider because I think she is the best person for the job.

All of the above, including the judge. I'm still having trouble grasping the reality that the judge had all this evidence, yet ordered a pscho-sexual evaluation and LDT to be done by JULY. She should have ordered all visitation stopped immediately and locked him up until he took the blasted tests. How this guy was allowed to be around his children was INSANE. There should be rules in place to PROTECT children from their evil parents. How JP had more rights than the innocent children is beyond all comprehension.

The Cox family should sue, and if they need cash, I'll chip in. I'd be willing to sit behind them in court everyday, handing them tissues, fanning them, and applying cold compresses. :maddening:

The amount of injustice done in this case is shocking, appalling, disgusting, and it must stop!

In the evaluation docs (listing the docs the Dr. used to review) it stated the probable cause for the search at SP's was after UT found the pics on JP's computer. It's on page 3 dated 9/22/11. I'd copy it off the PDF, but I don't know how. I need to learn to how to do screen shots!!

Having not followed this case closely I want to know why it took so long after Susan's disappearance for JP's computers (15 of them!! that's a lot!!) to be seized by LE. Was there a probable cause issue securing the search warrant?

ETA: Let me start again and then I'm signing off because of cluttered brain!!! The 15 computers were in SP's home in WA that JP was staying in, after his move to WA for UT. SP's arrest was from that search....(the warrant was pertaining to the ongoing investigation into Susan's disappearce) It stated WVCPD's involvment and I was thinking when they found images on JP's computer in UT. Sorry for all the confusion folks. I don't know why they waited so long to look at SP's computer...maybe waiting for more evidence or just wanting the family to get comfy and habor more evidence. ??

Thanks for the thumbnail twall! The 15 computers were in SP's home, not JP's. I need to take a break as I'm getting my info mixed up. The attachment you provided states he (SP) was arrested in part because of what was found on JP's computer in UT...not the PC for the search warrant. The PC was Susan's disappearance.

ETA: It states JP's home, but it was SP's in WA that had the 15 puters they found in August '11.

ok, thanks for explaining, what threw me was the statement the computers were seized from JP's home when it was SP's home but IIRC JP was living there.

ps...I didn't have to do a screen shot, I saved the image then posted it. I know some PDF's you can't save the image. Bessie is a good teacher on how to do screen captures, she taught me! HTH

This is my idea of what might have been going on with the pictures on the computer found in the search by WVPD in Utah.

Not long after Susan went missing either the WVPD or Josh Powells lawyer went to court and got any evidence of the case locked up and a gag order put on Powell and the WVPD.

These pictures were not illegal and just them and Susan missing was probably not enough to get the kids taken away from Josh in a Utah court and since Josh moved so fast they really did not have much of a chance.

Now when they did the search of Steve Powells home they found enough evidence to take the kids out and do evaluations.

I think Washinton police got a tip from child services that Josh was going to get the kids back soon and Washington Pd contacted the Utah WVPD and they agreed to send the pics to WA for them to use so Josh would not get the kids back right away.

WVPD in Utah had to go to court and get the court to let them release the pictures to Washington and there were strict rules on who could see them because of this gag order in place in Utah.



I think WVPD wanted to hold on to these pictures and not let Josh and his lawyer know exactly what they were because they were going to use them in a murder with no body trial at some point. They were going to say it was possible Susan had found them on the computer and confronted Josh about them.



It is time now the Utah court unseal this case and release all the evidence but I think the WVPD is going to fight tooth and nail not to release it because I have a feeling these pictures are just the tip of the iceberg.

My thoughts keep going to Jennifer this morning. All this stuff being released about the family that she grew up around and eventually escaped from, has got to be extremely difficult for her . *hugs* to Jen.

Next. My first thought when I read about Charlie talking about killing Braden and it just being he and Josh ..... JP knew and/or promoted this thinking, imo.

This gives a whole new meaning to "Charlie, I have a surprise for you". .. And then SW hears Braden cry out.

And a message to Alina. Honey, honestly, this is NOT normal. It's never too late. Please get some help so you can have a happy normal life. You have value .. And it doesn't have to be wrapped up in your dad's sickness. I'm praying for you.

Sorry, but this seems like the very kind of statement that WS has prohibited.

The perps in this case - SP and JP - are ex-Mormons and Mormon haters. The Mormons here, the Coxes, are the ones whose near-entire family have been wiped out by the hate of ex church members. If you want to go there, you have to deal with that fact. And why did SP and JP hate Mormons so? Because the church preaches against and incest. Why did Susan stay so long in this dysfunctional relationship? Because she was a good Mormon girl raised to try to make a go of a relationship, even with someone who treated her as badly as JP did - and she went to her death for it, as did her boys.

We're talking about cops who had this info, and courts who had this info, not church headquarters who had this info. <modsnip>
